Kelvyn, mydanilo and Ryk thank you all for replying!
I've just found why the additional images were not displayed. Image Handler has an error in includes/classes/bmz_image_handler.class.php
Replace this line:
return $parameters . 'style="position:relative" onmouseover="showtrail(' . "'$products_image_zoom','$alt',$width,$height,$zoomwidth,$zoomheight,this," . $this->zoom['startx'].','.$this->zoom['starty'].','.$this->zoom['width'].','.$this->zoom['height'].');" onmouseout="hidetrail();" ';
with this line:
return $parameters . 'style="position:relative" onmouseover="showtrail(' . "\'$products_image_zoom\',\'$alt\',$width,$height,$zoomwidth,$zoomheight,thi s," . $this->zoom['startx'].','.$this->zoom['starty'].','.$this->zoom['width'].','.$this->zoom['height'].');" onmouseout="hidetrail();" ';
Additional images are now displayed. Popup is still somewhat of a problem as IE 7 doesn't like the onmouseover event (Error pageY is null or not an object). Firefox does show the proper popup image.
Now all I need to do is solve the clipping of the large images.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Whatever the mod, there will always be someone who has problems with it because of other mods they have concurrently installed, because of something going awry in the setup or because they installed it on a weekday! :D
The real shame here is that the original IH author vanished out of sight because he was always very helpful and quick to resolve issues...and this has been one of the most outstanding third-party additions to ZenCart.

I'm just not exactly sure what it does, apart from over-write a lot of core files, break the "larger image" popup window and break "zen lightbox".

My worry is that he's gone the same way of, um, certain others who promise a fantastic new version in return for support. Breakmyzencart has raised €1356.18 and that was the last we heard of him!
This has happened now with 3 things I've contributed to - makes me not want to bother in the future!

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
If I recall correctly - which I may not cos I'm getting old...lightbox came on the scene after IH so which breaks which?
The main value of it has really been to prevent those who haven't a clue about image handling to create sites with correctly optimised product images - specifically when clients take over after the cart has been designed and built for them.
In Tim's case, the work was done before he asked for funds, and he put in a LOT of support and effort on these forums before disappearing. OK, things have changed since IH2 so improvements/alterations have been needed, but I don't think you can justifiably say that he promised the earth and ran off with the money. He may well have done a runner - but for all we know, he may well be dead.

Cant seem to find the answer, or its just too much to look at.
Hello,
I have read and read through the posts with no luck whatsoever, that or its just way too much to actually find anything :)
I have a new install of 1.37 and lightbox and a sefu that just works. Everything is running fine. When I install IH2 I get a small problem,
in the listing of products in a category, the thumbnailed image appears fine.
when you click on the that actual item to view more info, this thumbnail is red x'd.
when you click on larger image it works fine.
has anyone else had this issue.
Thanks for any help or pointers to helpful posts.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
uninstalled IH2 a while ago (onv1.3.5), but files still in shop, can I delete bmz_cache? is it used for anything else?
I can't remember if it was there before IH2 or not....
Thanks
-
Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Hiya,
Well I think for some reason IH2 isnt seeing the bmz directory with 1.37 and sefu that just works.
i notice that the listing of a categories products displays all the thumbnails, but when you click on a product, the product image does not display, if you click on larger image it displays as normal..
when viewing the source of each page, I notice that none of the image sources are pointing to the bmz directory as I think they should be, but rather the old images directory.
bmz has the proper permissions, but for some reason ih2 1.35 doesnt seem to be kicking in....
any help would be appreciated.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Is it possible to adjust the size of the zoomed image larger or smaller?
All the images on my site are the exact size I want them to be. I would however like to play around with the zoom size.
Thanks,

Re: Image Handler 2 Support

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
After I installed Image Handler 2 I have been having problems finding my template files via Filezilla. The path of includes/templates only shows the "template_custom" but not the rest.
As you can imagine I would need to access these files, and they do show up in the Developer Toolkit.
Can anyone help me figure this out?

But why did IH2 make all my images disappear when it was turned on?

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
I have tried reading all posts, but didn't find the answer to my little problem.
All installed well, and the images show OK. Even the hover-function works.
Now I have 1 problem :
I upload 1 picture, and got 3 sizes : small, medium, large.
The small image and the medium are the same size and the large images is the large version. The problem is : where can I set the image size for the MEDIUM sized picture......
I can find the settings for the small and the large, but I can't find the settings for the medium size.
Thanx in advance for your reply !

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Hey all,
no, I am not dead. I am just swamped with work. I am still studying but did switch from being a student with part-time job to full-time job with part-time studying. I needed to do this because I simply ran out of money. Now, the problem is, I have to travel a lot on company business and I'm doing about 50 hrs a week (that is without travelling time) and when I'm at the hotel in the evenings I really don't feel like sittting in front of the computer anymore. The same goes for the weekends which I try to spend with my woman and her child. I know I have kind of abandoned this project which a lot of people rely on but some people have stayed on top and provide valuable information and help for those who have questions. I don't know if anyone has taken over this project but everyone is free to contribute and I have ever since been providing possibilities to further develop this project. There is an open wiki at breakmyzencart.com which can be used for information refinement and FAQs, there is a bugtracker which everyone can subscribe to, the wiki can even be used to upload files and provide newer versions of image handler. I just can't participate in the development anymore. I suppose the zen-cart team have made it much easier for IH2 to be integrated and there exist versions that run along well with the current Zen-Cart release. I will be updating the donations page in a few days since a few more have come in but everyone needs to remember, you don't donate in return for support, you donate to say 'thank you' for the product you downloaded for free and noone is required to do that at all. I'd like to thank Ryk especially for being the good soul of this thread and anyone who deserves to be called that, too. I hope you all have a good time even without me taking part in this development.
Cheers,
Tim

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Hi Tim
Must have been a bit of a surprise to find out someone already had you surfing with the Angels.
Thanks for all the work you have done on this contrib - I personally found it a true "can't do without".
On which note I am seeking a bit of help ( not necessarily from u Tim :P )
I used to run Image handler on my 1.2.6 zencart and have just upgraded to 1.3.7 on a test site and the last contrib I am trying to add is IH2 but its giving me some problems.
If i just take the contrib out of the box and upload it I dont get any images in Product description (med or Lrg) but I do get the small in product listings. I then tweaked some of the IH2 pages to try make them compatible with 1.3.7 and I got the product description images to work but my additional images all up came small.
So I assume that there is a need for a bit of a tweak to make IH2 compatible with 1.3.7 but since my knowledge of coding is next to zero I think it is going to need someone more capable to sort this out.
One final question - where are the images stored that are created by IH2 and why is it necessary to scan for olf IH images. (for some reason if I do this all my images go walkabout bigtime.)
Cheers
Brinley

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Couple of questions.. I have a picture on my home (index) page that shows properly in Firefox, viewing the same page with IE6 the image is not there. It shows the alt. text, when I right click on the picture for properties, only dimesions shows 500 x 148, all other attributes say Not available This is the code I used:
<p align="center">
<img border="0" "src="images/HomePage2007Top.jpg" width="500" height="148" alt="Annron Web Store is an Online Division of Annron Sales Ltd." /></p>
(cannot give you url as this is still on my laptop)
Also I would like to know why some MED & LGR pictures would show "delete" under their pictures in Tools/Image Handler 2 and other don't.

Youe sidebox image is 150px wide
which I assume is the width of your small image
Your product list images are smaller
IH2 popups only work if the images its displays are the "small image size"
You can't have a variety of small image sizes!

Hi gilby
I read your post above and I am interested in how I would prevent IH2 from move images from "images/original" to "images" as when I do it, they just get deleted. (Same things as CTCentral is experiencing)
Also can you confirm that IH2 moves all images in the BMZ directory? (I assume thats what the Check for old versions of IH link does in Admin - not sure what the cache option does.)
Cheers

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
I've just started playing the IH2 and, so far, it's pretty impressive! The image quality on the site in my sig needs to be improved and I think IH2 will help in that respect, but I don't seem to be able to get the hover feature working. I'm testing IH2 elsewhere and the watermarks and resizing work perfectly, but I don't get an image when I hover over the small image. I get the product name, so that's got to be a clue. Any ideas? Once I get that sorted, I'll start using it for the live site.
If this has been asked/answered before, I apologize for asking again, but I couldn't find it in the documentation and this thread is over 50 pages! :shocking:

IH2 will not move images from "images/original" to "images" unless you allow it to. Don't do it as It doesn't work right.
I manually use ftp to move them.
From what I can work out IH2 resizes the images in the "images" directory and caches them in the bmz* directories.
It will also resize & cache the medium & large images providing you don't already have medium & large images in the "medium" & "large" directories.
If you have you will have to delete them (I saved them to a different directory, just in case) before IH2 will create & cache them.
This part is logical really as it allows you to use a different image for the med & lge images
Clearing the cache does exactly that, it deletes all the cached images, forcing them to be recreated next time they are accessed. You need to this if you are playing with the image sizes as IH2 creates unique names for each image size and you will end up with lots of different size images that need to be cleaned out.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
I just installed Image Handler, and I have a little problem. I want it to watermark my images, so in Configuration>Images I set it to watermark Small, Medium & large. But it's only watermarking the small ones! How do I make it watermark medium & Large? I tried clearing the image cache, didn't help. Also, where do I set the size for medium & large images? Is there a place to do that?
thanks

WOOT! I found the problem. I discovered I was getting javascript errors in FF and decided to go through the download files again to make sure I didn't forget to upload something. :shocking: I did! I found includes\templates\templated_default\jscript\jscript_imagehover.js hadn't been uploaded. I FTPed it to the site and PRESTO! The hover works!

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Hi,
I just installed a fresh version of zencart 1.3.7.
The I installed the IH2 in the downloads area..
Everything is well, I clicked instal IH in Admin and it installed.
Now whenever I click the I icon or the Tools>Image Handlre I get this Error...
Warning: main(includes/ih_manager.php) [function.main]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/roydahda/public_html/catalog/admin/image_handler.php on line 153
Warning: main(includes/ih_manager.php) [function.main]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/roydahda/public_html/catalog/admin/image_handler.php on line 153

Any one what the problem is??
Also, I installed the Australia Post module...
All seems good but in Shipping Modules>AusPARCEL Post....The Shipping Zones is FLORIDA?
It is not giving the option to choose Australia or Worldzones?
Please Help.

A good hint appears repeatedly within the error message:
"No such file or directory in /home/roydahda/public_html/catalog/admin/image_handler.php"
which indicates Image Handler cannot find the file "image_handler.php" within /home/roydahda/public_html/catalog/admin/
Double check to ensure the file is contained within the /admin directory.
On a related note it appears your shop directory structure is not set-up quite correctly (it will work but will likely cause you difficulty in the future if not corrected). That is, instead of naming the directory which your zen cart is installed as "catalog", better to name the directory with your shopname or something similar.
e.g. /home/youraccountname/public_html/yourshopname/
Then the path to your admin directory will be:
/home/youraccountname/public_html/yourshopname/admin/
And the path to your "catalog" directory will be:
/home/youraccountname/public_html/yourshopname/includes/
With many mods install instructions, you will often observe the word "catalog" is used in context of specifying an EXAMPLE directory path, indicating the includes directory one level down from the shop root directory (e.g. /yourshopname/includes) to differentiate from /admin/includes. But in this regard the word catalog is not to be applied so literally.
Regarding your shipping mod question please do post your issue to the appropriate forum support thread. :)

Egads! Thanks for the correction Merlin. Yes I got that flat *** backwards, copy and pasting the wrong path from rlexyd's error message. Maybe too much coffee already ;-)

Ok, here goes another posty...
Installed ok with no issues. Also using Tabbed lite contrib as well. Issue is that the mouseover zoom for the image inside the tab does not seem to work, in fact it doesn't work.lol
Got the small mouse over working, but is there a way to change the zoom ratio or to select the med image on mouseover?

If you mean the popup no longer works its because this feature only works on "small image size" images.
In your case thats 130px wide
Your featured product are 172px wide
For this feature to work they must be the same size
Change your small image size to 172px wide and it will work. (of course this will alter all your product images as well)

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Can someone please tell me how to uninstall this? I can not find the sql to get it off my site. Please anyone.
-
Re: Image Handler 2 Support
admin>tools>image handler .. Admin
-
Re: Image Handler 2 Support
does that really remove it all from the data base? Seems like its still there b/c when I go to reinstall it, it dosen't make the folders in the bmz_cache...why is that?
-
Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Yes it removes it all from the database, but you have to manually remove the files from the server just like you manually uploaded them.
-
Re: Image Handler 2 Support
thats not what I mean, I remove the files, but after I reinstall, they don't come back up.
-
Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Sorry, but you've got me utterly confused. If you've uninstalled via the admin and removed the files, of course they won't come back up... but I suppose that depends on what you mean by "they".
What exactly are you trying to do?
-
Re: Image Handler 2 Support
I have it all worked out now, but as I was trying to reinstall it, I took it back to the way the files where before it was installed.
So there the file 0 and file 1....so on didn't get made after the reinstall, but I had them from my backup so I just put them back in, it might have been a file permission thing, not sure.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
I'm having some problems with Image Handler 2 and Zen 1.3.6. Some of my large images are not resizing at all (adjusting to the IM2 standard large size).
What could be causing this?

You know you have warnings on your ashby mint page?
-
Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Yeah,
I'm updating to 1.3.7 right now. Hoping that and the new IH2 will solve the problems.
-
Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Well, I succesfully upgraded to 1.3.7, then made sure I had the latest IH2 installed, and it works perfectly. So, apparantly, IH2 and 1.3.6 must not play well together without some modifications. Anyway, problem solved!:D
-
Re: Image Handler 2 Support
For other folks reading this
IH2 and 136 work just fine together
we have a bunch of folks running it
glad you got it sorted out Tom
-
Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Thanks T! Hope no one else is having any problems with that combination as I did. But, even if they aren't, upgrading to 1.3.7 is not only painless, but HIGHLY reccomended! There is just so much that has been fixed in the latest release, and so many issues that have been addressed.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
I'm going to say my piece and leave.
At someone's suggestion, I'm not going to point fingers, I downloaded IH2 and tried to follow the installation instructions.
I kept looking and looking and reading and reading, but the intalltion instructions were nowhere to be found.
I'm sorry Tim, with all due respect, this does not pass for installation instructions, you don't have the right to call this documentation.
I'm not a PHP programmer, but I engineer IBM390 enterprise-wide systems that transact billions of dollars daily, and I couldn't figure out how to install this "contribution" based on this fragment of sentence.
Copy the following directories into your Zen Cart folder.
- <LI class=level1>admin
<LI class=level1>bmz_cache
<LI class=level1>images - includes
There are more than one admin directory, more than one images directory and more than one includes directory in my Zen Cart folder.
You will forgive me because, as I might add that you are not the only one guilty of thinking that everyone knows what you know and those who don't can read your mind.
Sending folks off on a wild goose chance thru hundreds of thousands of outdated and useless forum posts where PHP geeks and hobbyists backslap each other is not what I would consider to be a good basis for an ecommerce enterprise.
Thanks for the fun, I couldn't imagine how else I would have wanted to spend the last two weeks. I learned something about the value of free software. You don't always get what you paid for. :smartass:

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
More than one admin folder in your store root? More than one folder called "images" in your store root? more than one includes folder in your store root? I really doubt it.
It's actually incredibly simple. All the files from the "images" folder in the ZIP file you download need to be uploaded to /yourstore/images.
All the files from the "admin" folder in the ZIP file need to be uploaded to /yourstore/admin (if you have renamed your admin directory, you still upload it to the renamed dir)
Upload the files from "includes" to /yourstore/includes. Make sure that the folder structure stays the same. e.g., the files & folders from /image-handler_2.0-zc13/includes/templates/template_default/css/
need to be uploaded to /yourstore/includes/templates/template_default/css.
Also, did you not see this link:
http://www.breakmyzencart.com/ih-doc
That is also included in the "README" file in the IH2 download.
by the way, image handler is definitely worth it, and I don't know why more ZC stores don't use it, it considerably enhances the store.
-
Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Suddenly when I try to add an additional image I get this error:
File exists! Please alter the base name or suffix.
I'm using zc136 and ih2.
It has beed working perfectly until today and this problem does not happen on all products.
Any clues to what is wrong would be appreciated.

Normally, I never get involved in petty dodge ball games, but this time I just Can't resist. Judging from your post, "Putzmeister" is an appropriate handle for you to use.

That's a new one on me too, and I have 3 HIGHLY modified Zen sites online.

This is So true kbalona! Especially if you read the threads (this one in particular) and ask questions instead of "shooting off at the keyboard".
No one cares that you

. We just care that you are able to get your cart up and running, and most everyone in the Zen Community is Happy to help. Try asking the right questions instead of snipe hunting and maybe, just maybe, your "bag" will fill up with the right answers instead of those illusive little snipes that seem to be eluding you.
If you really Do have 2 of everything, the best thing you can do is delete it all, re-upload Zen Cart 1.3.7 (only once) re-install and try again.
But, as said before, it is unlikely you have two of anything in the same directories as 2 files or folders with the same name cannot occupy the same space at the same time.

At the risk of being chided ;) ...or why some form of it isn't part of core. The lack of even basic image handling is big missing part in an otherwise really sophisticated commerce solution.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
IH2 is great stuff. At first I didn't quite understand how it worked and even fretted that I was missing steps until I refreshed the site and things looked mighty pretty. Major kudos! :)
After upgrading to 1.3.7, I've run into a rather odd snag. On the admin side, the png/jpg/gif preview images don't work and upon checking the img locations, it points to /shop/shop/admin/images for some reason. Perhaps when I overwrote a file in admin this happened, but since my reinstallation/upgrade is still fairly early I couldn't imagine something major getting knocked out of whack.
I tried editing imagehandler.php (where the preview image code info was) and no dice. The weird part was that when I edited the file, I received the following errors:
Warning: session_start() [function.session-start]: Cannot send session cache limiter - headers already sent (output started at /home/"user"/public_html/shop/admin/image_handler.php:1) in /home/"user"/public_html/shop/includes/functions/sessions.php on line 108
Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/"user"/public_html/shop/admin/image_handler.php:1) in /home/"user"/public_html/shop/admin/includes/init_includes/init_templates.php on line 36
What's weirder is that if I do nothing, or edit something then undo and save the file (effectively negating the changes made but nevertheless forcing the file to be overwritten on the ftp) I still get this error. The only fix was to re-upload an unblemished/new version of said file.
Did I just stumble upon some magic error? Is my lack of sleep causing me to secretly type invisible php code that is mucking things up? Oh no! @_@;
On a lighter note, everything user side looks marvelous. :)

That error is almost always a return or some white space after the closing ?> in the file. Some files are quite sensitive to this. I suspect your editor is forcing a return at the end of the file when saving. In my editor (BBEdit) this is something I can shut off in the preferences.
-
Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Ah yes, the classic whitespace error. I remember this from programming classes during my univ days... @_@;
I normally use vim for all my file editing, but sometimes I like to do quick edits via my FTP program (FileZilla) and I currently have it set up to only pull up notepad for editing. And we know how bad notepad is...
Well, that's one problem cleared. Now to figure out this bizarre duplication of the shop name in the image links...
Thanks! :)

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Hi Gang!
I hate to have to ask, but after exhaustive searches, I can't seem to find the answer to this question.
I've just downloaded a fresh copy of ZenCart, and before I even installed it, I decided to intergrate the IH2 extension folders.
The install went well, and the index.php comes up as expected.
However when I attempt to go into admin, I get the following message:
Warning: require_once(C:/wamp/www/mySite/includes/extra_configures/bmz_image_handler_conf.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in C:\wamp\www\mySite\admin\includes\extra_configures\bmz_image_handler_conf.php on line 12
Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required 'C:/wamp/www/mySite/includes/extra_configures/bmz_image_handler_conf.php' (include_path='.;C:\php5\pear') in C:\wamp\www\mySite\admin\includes\extra_configures\bmz_image_handler_conf.php on line 12
Based on what I see in the windows explorer, this file clearly exists; I'm at my wits end and would like to resolve this soon. Please help.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
From the readme:
Quote:
Make sure that the "bmz_cache" folder's permissions match those of your
images folder (e.g 0777, 0775 or 0755).
Have you checked that?
-
Re: Image Handler 2 Support
hi,
this may have been asked before.
my small image sizes are set to 172 X172!
I don't want the small images for my additional images on the product info to be as large as that. I want them to be max 150px wide. is there any way for me to just target additional images?
-
Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Thank you for your help, Kbalona. I appreciate it.
Please forgive my ignorance in the matter, but this is important.
I may be going about this the wrong way.
The four folders that are part of the IH2 download:
- admin
- bmz_cache
- images
- includes
each of which contain folders and files within them. Simply copying these top level folders into the Zen Cart root folder did nothing to disseminate the contents of these folders to their rightful places.
The image handler didn't appear in my admin/tool menu as was suggested.
I suspect that the actually process is a little more involved than the ih-doc suggests. Do I have to manually peel open the directory tree and go thru the file items placing them into the Zen Cart folders where it seems they might belong? For a beginner, this can be error prone.
Either the process is simpler than I understood, or the instructions are way too vague. Either way, is anyone willing to patiently walk me thru the process? Please.
Thanx,
Zin Fandel
