With only 178 products it is hard to see why it would be slow on any server other than an overloaded one ...

As to page dying inconsistently, that sounds like server overload if there are no errors showing or a way to reproduce the problem consistently ...

Ok, so now I just went to the site again to see how it's doing and got this page:

Now I'm starting to panic. Please help!

"Hello. Thank you for loading Zen Cart™.

You are seeing this page for one or more reasons:

This is your first time using Zen Cart™ and you haven't yet completed the normal Installation procedure.
If this is the case for you, you will need to upload the "zc_install" folder using your FTP program, and then run zc_install/index.php via your browser (or reload this page to see a link to it).

Your /includes/configure.php and/or /admin/includes/configure.php file contains invalid path information and/or invalid database-connection information.
If you recently edited your configure.php files for any reason, or maybe moved your site to a different folder or different server, then you'll need to review and update all your settings to the correct values for your server.
See the Online FAQ and Tutorials area on the Zen Cart™ website for assistance.

    To begin installation ...

The Installation Documentation can be read by clicking here: Documentation
You will need to upload the "zc_install" folder using your FTP program, and then run zc_install/index.php via your browser (or reload this page to see a link to it).
The Online FAQ and Tutorials area on the Zen Cart™ website will also be of value if you run into difficulties."

I just spoke with them again. They moved me to a different server and switched the site to lenux from windows.

They found the problem on their end and redirected the site. So it's now appearing again but back to the original problem. Still a very slow load time.

    They mentioned 2 thin

1: there are an extra 2 megs if data being downloaded on loading of the site which may be slowing me down. She says these need to be "optimized"?

2: they have a mod page speed Function that I should I should install to optimize performance on my site.

But then she said I'm basically on my own with these two as they are site based and not to do with their hosting service.

Any thoughts on how to deal with these? Or if they could be the solution?

    Thanks

Suck it up and get away from them and get located with a better host

I will be relocating. That I'm certain about. However, I just renewed for a year 2 months ago so I need to stick it out a little longer.

Just trying to figure out how to get it going in the mean time.

I know it won't be great but I just want it back to how it was 3 days ago at this point.

Weigh the cost of your time and possible lost sales due to these issues against that of just moving now

    Very true.

I suppose I also just want to be certain that it is all on the host end and there's nothing I can do on my end first. I'd hate to switch over only to find out that I'm still having the same issue.
