ALright.. this is my last post I swear.. (**snickers**)

The slideshow doesn't appear to work in Safari. (I'm using Safari 5.1.7 for PC). I have confirmed that both the site I am working on (http://clientlaserdiscvault(dot)overthehillweb(dot)com/) and the sample site for this template exhibit the same behavior. (first noticed this when doing some minor mobile testing.. the slideshow does not work from my mobile phone, but shrugged it off..) The controller moves, but the slides do not change. Gonna have my client check this on his Mac to see if Safari on the Mac shows the same behavior.

I would recommend contacting the author of the slide show code for help with this. You can find the credit link in the readme.html file.

thanks will look into that or I may replace the slideshow altogether..I'm on a tight deadline so replacing might be my faster solution.. of course if I get a solution I will post back and share..

So I reached out to the author of the Easy Slider slideshow, and did not receive a response to my request for help. So as I indicated in my previous posts, I moved on to find another slideshow that would be more cross-browser compatible to solve my Safari issues and mobile issues. I settled on the Nivo Slider. It uses a newer JQuery Library and it turns out that it was pretty easy to adapt this slideshow for use with Zen Cart. (there is also a WordPress Plugin for the Nivo Slider if anyone is interested)

I've provided the files on my site: http://overthehillweb.com/free-downloads for anyone interested in replacing the Easy Slider slideshow with the Nivo Slider . (I re-purposed many of the files Anne used in adapting Easy Slider for Zen Cart). In the fileset I provide a sample slideshow based on the demo that comes with the Nivo Slider. The demo provides several examples of ways to configure the Nivo Slider. I did not include a readme in this package, and the demo is fairly self explanatory IMHO. The stylesheet in the package is setup to support the four themes that come with Nivo. If you are familiar with installing Zen Cart add-ons, this should be a pretty easy install. If you need additional help configuring the slideshow, you can try these threads:

You should create a separate thread if you do need help configuring the Nivo slider so that the community can assist you, or post your questions on the Nivo Slider support forum. Thanks for posting ;-) I have actually started the process of updating all of the templates with a new slider that is cross browser compatible. The first template scheduled for the update is Avonlee Contempo.

I just installed the package to replace a slide show on a test cart and am seeing a lot of html validation errors which are slide show related.

The new slider in the template updates is Jquery slides, http://slidesjs.com. The template packages will validate html with no errors.

If you are speaking of the Nivo slider, then yes I am aware that there will be one specific tag used by the Nivo Slider HTML that the validator will burp on. It's because there is a non-standard attribute/tag used by the Nivo Slider (there is no attribute "data-thumb"). I didn't see any others.. So I personally do not think there is any real harm in this one error so it's a small "risk" that I'm willing to accept.

I have the slide JS installed using the latest version of jquery 1.8.2.

I am seeing these errors in the validator:

I'm not getting all of these same errors.. I believe this in part because I'm not using all the HTML that's in the demo slideshow in my download.. For example, I am not declaring an explicit transition type like in the demo page. Also I'm using one of the other Nivo themes so I'm sure that's another factor.... Nevertheless, I tend to use validation as a guideline and not an absolute as there are things that the validator spits out that are not big deal issues IMHO.. So for me these errors are not anything I would consider huge concerns.. Everyone has their own tolerances though..

I just thought that you would want to know that these validation errors are in the package in case you wanted to fix them. I got them by using the unchanged files in the download package that you posted ;-)

Understood.. Some of the validation errors can't be "fixed" and I am of the opinion that this is not necessarily a cause for concern.. For example the validation error "there is no attribute "data-transition"".
