Image Handler 3 Support Thread (for ZC v1.3.9)

I have a problem with the creation of png's. All images that ImageHandler creates that are .png are broken. As far as I know I have setup ImageHandler correctly and it does fully work for other filetypes.

Even on my new virtual server this does not work. So any cached image that ImageHandler creates and that is an png is broken.
The png's that where created a few months ago on my old server are all broken to. So I don't think its some missing library or so...

I have installed libgd and ImageMagick:

dpkg -l|grep gd
ii libgd2-xpm 2.0.36~rc1~dfsg-6ubuntu2 GD Graphics Library version 2
ii php5-gd 5.3.10-1ubuntu3.4 GD module for php5

dpkg -l|grep imagemagick
ii imagemagick 8:6.6.9.7-5ubuntu3.2 image manipulation programs

If I download if via FTP and test it on my local PC its also saying that its damaged.

For now I have setup ImageHandler to convert all images to JPG... but I would love to use PNG again :-)

Any idea on why this is going wrong?

If this is for Image Handler v4, then you need to post in the IH4 support thread.. You also need to check your source images.. If they are damaged then IH4 will created damaged files from these damaged images...

This is an Imager Handler V3 (installed on Zen-Cart 1.3.9) so this should be the right forum :-)

I recreated the png with photoshop... still gets the same damaged images.

When I have time I will install the latest version of IH to check if that fixes this issue.

I doubt that IH4 will solve the issue.. It sounds to me like the issue is with your source files.. If you are "creating" these images within Photoshop something in this process is creating a file that is corrupted/damaged. In any case the issue is not Image Handler, but something to do with your source images..

Not its really something with my installation of IH (of something else). I just used an png that I downloaded from internet (some picture of the movie Brave). Same problem!

The strange thing is that is goes wrong on my old server at home and now again at my new ubuntu vps server...

I'll do some more testing to figure out whats causing this problem.

Since this is not a commonly reported issue, it's more likely that the issue is specific to your server (again NOT an IH3 issue)..

If you are happy with working through shell you should be able to scale a test image using either imagemagick or GD. If you aren't happy with shell or don't have shell access then you could write a script to do it. There are pages and pages of instructions on how to do both these on the web. I'd do that first and see if your server is chewing up the images. I am not saying that it is but it would be a good idea to prove to yourself that it is not.

I'd guess that just upgrading to IH4 is not going to make a whole lot of difference because I do not believe ( not 100% sure here ) that the code that actually does the scaling has not been changed for a while. Bits around that core have been altered, but not that core - I believe.

Sorry not to be of more help than that but as Diva says this is not a widely reported issue.
