Default Over right of v139h with v151

    I am using v139h and I am going to upgrade to v151. Now the plugins I have added to v139h I no longer want to use. So my questions are;

    1. Can I just upgrade over the v139h I have got?
    2. Do still need to put the v151 into it's own directory, as the info sheet says?
    3. Has anybody else done this & if so did it work for them?

Plugins used Wishlist; scrolling new products

I would suggest that you follow the tutorial on upgrading
And upgrade in a folder and not your live site
Test test test and when satisfied move the upgrade

So you move/copy the test directory straight in to the live directory?

And the plugin's I am using will go away?

I would create a new folder - something like "save" and move your current files into it
Then move the upgrade files in their place
Edit the 2 configure file to reflect this move

And the plugin's I am using will go away?
Depending upon if they were just file based or not
If they also have sql for installation then there maybe an uninstall sql that you can run

Kobra's advice must be taken. You do not do your upgrade on a LIVE site.

You make a COPY of that site - which means you copy:

    1. The FILES
    2. The DATABASE

You can put the COPIED files into a new folder. Then you create a SECOND DATABASE and import your copied data into it.

Then, you edit the configure.php files of the COPIED SITE, to point to the COPIED DATABASE.

Then you have an exact, working copy of your ORIGINAL site.

You do the upgrade work on the COPY - not the ORIGINAL.

When the COPY has been upgraded, and you have fully tested that it works, you bring your cdhanges over to the LIVE SITE.

There are tutorials for upgrading, so please look for these, and follow what they tell you.

Can the database and files copied on to my computer instead of in to another directory?

Yes if you create a local WAMPP or XAMPP server..
