If by "higher level" you do mean category product listing, and not a larger quantity of a product, then the stock ZC admin settings will do that. As long as you have the product listing set to show quantity in stock, you will get the out of stock message/image when appropriate. Stock Icon can simplify that to a green/yellow/red dot at any desired quantities if you like.
