    Default Really could use some help V1.39F crashed

    Hi everyone hope someone would be kind enough to help me get my Zencart functional again
    In short the Domain host service via their Cpanel told me there was an update for the V 1.39F ( I think it is and not 1.38F) to 1.5.3
    So I clicked on the update icon and it then it said it was doing a backup first
    Then it did some Zencart script I guess to do the update and in process says it failed :-(
    But went to my admin Zencart webapage and said all was OK except an issue saying database needed some path :-(
    I did not know how to do that so via Cpanel for this update I did a restore of Zencart and in the process says something was corrupted. :-(
    Contacted the domain host server and they said only fix was they do a total restore of my whole domain. They claim that V1.5.3 as to version of SQL was the cause of crashing their version of SQL
    Took them 8 hours and finally said they were able to do all files/folders restore BUT could not restore all the databases
    Now when I go to the Zencart frontstore as you see in screenshot the error it says and also show it seems the Zencart databases are there ( repair function does not fix it)
    If I go to the Zencart admin webpage get this error :
    1146 Table 'teamzr5_zc1.zen_db_cache' doesn't exist in: [db_cache table]
    If you were entering information, press the BACK button in your browser and re-check the information you had entered to be sure you left no blank fields.

    Can someone please help to solve this as my Zencart is small but it has been up for some years and now it is totally non useable and though I can use the programs and do little HTML, other then that I have no experience in how complex Zencart is to update or fix and I really do not want to loss the products for sake or other content that existed and I assume the old files are on my domain through their backups and restores
    Many Thanks -- JR

    Very unfortunate indeed. While it is nice that the host offered some form of solution to try to upgrade, that really should be left for the store owner to do. In the process of making backups, was a backup of your database ever performed? It's not a total loss, but more than likely it has already been upgraded and now the software to display it needs to be as well...
    There are a number of ways you could move forward, but ideally you'd make a backup of everything associated with this one site (files AND database) you could then put together at least a version of it without your current template just to get back online while you spend the next couple of hours upgrading the rest of the software.

    But the update should not have been performed in place like it was, and by following the guidelines for upgrading that are posted in the FAQ, the headache and concern will be much less...

    Thanks for the reply but most of this is over my head

    Now when going to the Zencart main page at the top it says

    Your database appears to need patching to a higher level. See Admin->Tools->Server Information to review patch levels.

    Rest of that main page shows all products fine

    If trying to go to the admin webpage it cannot and responds back with

    0 DB_ERROR_NOT_CONNECTED in: [db_cache table]

    If you were entering information, press the BACK button in your browser and re-check the information you had entered to be sure you left no blank fields.

    Being I cannot get into the admin page how can I do some patch, what patch and how to fix the SQL the
    0 DB_ERROR_NOT_CONNECTED in: [db_cache table] ??

    Thanks for any help as this means the Zencart has been down since Friday :-(

    Since you said that you can access the store-side (except for the database patching message), but not your admin (due to a database configuration issue), I suggest that you
    1. Open the file /includes/configure.php
    2. Edit the file /YOUR_ADMIN/includes/configure.php
    3. Copy the DB_ definitions (the database configuration) from /includes/configure.php, overwriting the same settings in /YOUR_ADMIN/includes/configure.php
    4. Save /YOUR_ADMIN/includes/configure.php and upload the changed file to your store's file structure.

    That should get your admin going again.

    When you look at the file-system associated with your webhost, is there a directory that looks like it could be the renamed version of the zc_install folder?

    Hi thanks for the tips

    I copied from includes/configure.php
    of :

    // define our database connection
    define('DB_TYPE', 'mysql');
    define('DB_PREFIX', 'zen_');
    define('DB_SERVER', 'localhost');
    define('DB_SERVER_USERNAME', 'teamzr5_zc1');
    define('DB_SERVER_PASSWORD', 'zr1xxx');
    define('DB_DATABASE', 'teamzr5_zc2');
    define('USE_PCONNECT', 'false');
    define('STORE_SESSIONS', 'db');
    // for STORE_SESSIONS, use 'db' for best support, or '' for file-based storage

    // The next 2 "defines" are for SQL cache support.
    // For SQL_CACHE_METHOD, you can select from: none, database, or file
    // If you choose "file", then you need to set the DIR_FS_SQL_CACHE to a directory where your apache
    // or webserver user has write privileges (chmod 666 or 777). We recommend using the "cache" folder inside the Zen Cart folder
    // ie: /path/to/your/webspace/public_html/zen/cache -- leave no trailing slash
    define('SQL_CACHE_METHOD', 'none');
    define('DIR_FS_SQL_CACHE', '/home/teamzr5/public_html/fstore/cache');

    Then replaced those lines in the configure.php in the admin/includes and overwrote (copied) that in admin/includes and still when going to the Zencart main page get same error warning at top of page

    and of going to the admin page still get same error of

    0 DB_ERROR_NOT_CONNECTED
    in: [db_cache table]

    What causes NOT connected ? and if so possible fix ?
    is there some folder or file called cache ?
    or work around be able to turn off cache to get to admin page ?

    Thanks

    application error Re: Really could use some help V1.39F crashed

    With zero support I have had to try and fix this myself
    I have the frontstore functional and now also the admin webpage but the host provider screwed up all recents SQL database backups and only had the one from 2010 and stupid tech support moved all databases to the same database tables

    So if anyone could at least answer as seen with screenshot below ( and red arrows I added)

    1. when clicking on "contact" URL only it shows address and phone #, being I have moved some time ago this has to be changed and it is not in the contacts content page
    so what file is that in so I can update that info ?

    2. as it is the software version is 1.39f but the failied updating to 1.5.3 left saying as you see at top of page that database needs a hot fix.
    Where do I obtain the fix and the process to fix that ?

    3. in the frontstore configure.php and the one for the admin's configure.php
    should both be set for cache as database, or none, ( both set the same way also ?)

    Thanks for any help as my frontstore has been broken now for going on 2 weeks ! :-(

    1. Changed in Admin - Configuration - My Store (and yes, it's stored in the database).

    2. In Admin - Tools - Server/Version Info, what version of Zencart are you showing, and what DB version ?

    3. A stock Zencart installation has that option set to 'none' in both files.

    You got bit by one of the biggest problems with an auto-update from plesk, cpanel, or softaculous. More likely than not, they automatically create a database prefix of zen_.
    If you then import a backup that did not contain the zen_ prefix, you get the error you got. Sorry you weren't asked about that in the first place. For future reference, it's a good idea not to jump on your horse and ride madly off in all directions. Head here for advice, answer EVERY posting tip question you can, and slowly try to recover.
    Unless your host is knowledgeable about Zen Cart, they are not your first line of defense. Since we started hosting Zen Cart several years ago, we have turned off EVERY auto installer.
    Anywho... Do use phpMyAdmin or some other program to verify that the database prefixes match. If the backup from 1.3.# does not have a prefix, you will need to remove that from BOTH configure.php files when doing the import/upgrade.
    When you got that error, the first thing should have been to see if the database teamzr5_zc1 existed. If your host doesn't know that, well......
    Second should have been to see if the prefix (in this case zen_) existed in both databases. Still something a host probably should have known.
    However, once you get outside the "Does it exist?" and the "Does it have a prefix?" your host could be lost. And, sometimes, we all overlook the obvious.
    Suggestions:
    Can your host go back to last month? Two months? You need to get a good backup of your database (and, hopefuly the site) that was working. Make sure you have it on your own computer. Download 1.5.3 from Zen Cart and see if the instructions at http://www.zen-cart.com/entry.php?3-...d-of-upgrading don't help.

    Thanks Stevesh that was a real help !

    Doing what you stated I correct #1

    As to #2 attached is a screenshot and maybe from that you or others can steer me how to correct the database error saying a hot fix is required showing at very top of each webpage including when using Admin URL

    Fixed #3 as I did not know what it was before and set both configs as "database" and just replaced that with "none" for both

    Now if database problem can be solved I can get this fixed and working properly again
