Diva I wouldn't take offense, I wouldn't expect you to be able to do my job either. :)

I know I am not qualified. My ex husband was the admin. For a while he was willing to help, then it stopped (when I got a bf). So I haven't had any issues that I couldn't handle in the last 2 years. The PROBLEM was, and still is, that the requested password reset email is not making it to my inbox. They say there is communication with the relay but that's as far as they'll go with me.

Godaddy sent me to this forum to find help on resetting my "app password" because they couldn't. I told them I had no idea what I was even suppose to be asking. After this is handled, I'll be switching to a more supported server and I have made contact with two locals that i can call if I have issues.

In a few words.. GoDaddy SUCKS as a hosting provider.. If you want better hosting and better support, there are certainly better hosts out there than GoDaddy

    • Camelot
    • InMotion

to name two hosting companies that I LIKE..

Also IMHO, you need to stay clear of ANY hosting company owned by the Endurance Internet Group..
Who is Endurance International Group (EIG)?

For those who are unaware, Endurance International Group is one of the world’s largest web hosting companies managing over sixty different hosting brands including:
    2slick.com
    AccountSupport
    A Small Orange
    ApolloHosting
    Arvixe
    Berry Information Systems
    BigRock
    BizLand
    BlueDomino
    Bluehost
    Dollar2Host
    Domain.com
    DomainHost
    Dot5Hosting
    Dotster
    easyCGI
    eHost
    EntryHost
    FastDomain
    FatCow
    FreeYellow
    Glob@t
    Homestead
    HostCentric
    HostClear
    HostGator
    HostMonster
    HostNine
    hostwithmenow.com
    HostYourSite.com
    HyperMart
    IMOutdoors
    Intuit Websites
    iPage
    IPOWER/iPowerWeb
    JustHost
    MyDomain
    MyResellerHome
    NetFirms
    Networks Web Hosting
    Nexx
    PowWeb
    PureHost
    ReadyHosting
    ResellerClub
    Saba-Pro
    SEO Hosting
    Southeast Web
    Spry
    StartLogic
    SuperGreen Hosting
    TypePad
    USANetHosting
    VirtualAvenue
    VPSLink
    WebHost4Life
    WebHosting.info
    Webstrike Solutions
    Xeran
    YourWebHosting
EIG initially began as BizLand, but began buying smaller web hosting businesses to grow their customer-base. Today, they own some of the most well known hosting companies such as HostGator, BlueHost, HostMonster, and HostNine.
If I may speak plainly again.. a supported server isn't the answer for you though at this time.. Moving AWAY from GoDaddy is a GREAT idea as they are a terrible webhosting company in my professional opinion.. But a supported server won't solve what appears to be your immediate needs.. Let me explain..

Your ex-husband is right.. IF you want to put the effort in, you CAN learn how to do this mostly on your own.. The question you need to answer is what ROLE do you want to play in your site's maintenance?? If you simply want to be the OWNER and manage your products and sales, this is easy enough to learn, and you WILL need to hire a professional to handle the webmaster duties..

    OR..

Do you want to not only be the siteowner, but the WEBMASTER as well.. As the webmaster, you will need to learn how to keep your store's code and files up to date. You will need to know how to perform periodic backups, and how to restore your site should a disaster happen. You will need to know how to add or REMOVE features from your store as your business changes. You will need to learn a little HTML, CSS, and occasionally some PHP to take on becoming your own webmaster.

As you move forward you will need to make some very important decisions.. Should you decide that you want to try and handle the webmastering duties, this forum is a great resource for Zen Cart questions. There are TONS of resources on the web to help you learn HTML & CSS. If you decide you want to hire a webmaster, this forum is also a great place to find that resource as well..
