SLL in paypal WPP

I'm at a similar point having just installed Zencart v1.5.5a as a clean install. I'm not going to do any upgrades as my prior data was partially corrupted from prior upgrades from 1.39 to 1.53. The character set data got messed up in parts, although overall the site still functioned. Anyway I'm staring from scratch with a nice clean install and the responsive theme as a base template and will just archive the old database and code. Some custom code will have to be added later for a slide show, but that's about it.

I elected not to include SSL with 1.5.5a installation and thought if required I could perhaps install it later time? I only use PayPal Express Checkout also. I never want to store or process Credit Card details directly on my site. I leave it all to PayPal.

Would I be in that same category then ? i.e. SSL setup not required.
