LinkPoint PEM Confusion

Hi,

I have signed up for LinkPoint and have the downloaded my PEM file and installed it in the payment modules directory.

My webhost gave me instructions to use CPanel to generate a CSR that I submit when purchasing my SSL certficate.

There does not seem to be an explanation what the PEM from LinkPoint is for except the payment module? Is it only used by the payment module only? Do I need this PEM to get an SSL certificate? Or can I just follow my webhosts instructions?

Yes, the PEM file is used *only* for the payment module. The module uses the PEM file to validate your CC processing requests as authorized by you.

Yes, you should follow your host's instructions to generate a CSR to be used when purchasing an SSL certificate. You need the SSL to provide security protection while collecting customers' private information including CC numbers etc.
