but I like to put mine here (root):
    http://www.rubberduckbathrooms.co.uk/sitemapindex.xml

Since Google is the big one it's best to follow their directions:
"Upload your Sitemap to your site in the highest level directory you want search engines to crawl, generally the root. If you list URLs in your Sitemap that are at a higher level than your Sitemap location, Google will be unable to include those URLs as part of the Sitemap submission."
thats the problem, the site map genorator wont put then in the root as it will only put them within the root of of the store. id have to goin via ftp and move the file manually, which is basically not the point.

i have gone to google and regestered in my site as well as rubberduckbathrooms.co.uk ive regestered rubberduckbathrooms.co.uk/store and the maps are in here and google finds them ok now. dont know what this will do to my google listing though.

It shouldn't affect your Google listing. Since this mod only generates a sitemap of your store - having the sitemaps files in the root of your store (/store/*.xml) is perfectly fine. Google will be able to use your sitemap to find everything that exists in the /store/ directory or deeper.

If you were to manually add urls into these sitemaps for locations in the root of your site - or any folder at the same level as /store/ - it would not be in accordance with googles requirements and probably not be indexed. But... if you were to manually add locations like these you might as well just create a new sitemap, put it in the appropriate directory, and register another sitemap for your site.

and to ramble on further... with your current sitemap location, any files located here (and any folders inside of here) will be indexed just fine: rubberduckbathrooms.co.uk/store/
In those same sitemaps located in the /store/ folder any urls to places like:
    rubberduckbathrooms.co.uk/index.htm
    rubberduckbathrooms.co.uk/somewhere/myfile.php
    rubberduckbathrooms.co.uk/somewhereelse/anotherfolder/abc.php
    are NOT valid.

I don't see any errors in your xml. And also do not see tag: mobile.

OK. Here's what we discovered about this from the error logs. The PHP installation on our server has a maximum memory usage setting that defaults to 8MB. The sitemap generator was requiring more than that, so it would return an error and just try to download the googlesitemap.php file.

We are running Fedora, Zen Cart 1.3.7, PHP 4.3.9, Apache

So, here's how we fixed it:

    1) Edit /etc/php.ini - Find memory_limit and set it to something bigger than 8MB (We set it to 80MB)

    2)The reload apache with /etc/init.d/httpd/reload

    3) In zen admin, run the sitemap gen. script and verify that your sitemap files actually contain data.

    4) On the server: Edit /etc/php.ini and set the memory_limit back to 8MB

    5) And last, reload apache again /etc/init.d/httpd/reload

This worked great for us. If anyone has any comments about what we did, I'd love to hear them.

    Good luck!

    Hi,

I have carefully read this forum and come to understand that the contribution submits to yahoo site explorer amung others.

Now when I go to yahoo site explorer I still see the submission date as the date I had submitted originally, so I actually have no idea if the submit has worked and everything is set up as it should be..

Can anyone tell me how to confirm that my site map is successfully being submitted to yahoo site explorer?

Its easy with google, because google indexes within a few days so I know that things are working. But not sure with yahoo...

    bug Re: Google SitemapAdmin

    Hello,

I had zencart 1.3.6 installed and was running google sitemap admin 1.2.

I think this is the version number, that's what it says in the googlesitemap.php header. It also says "@copyright Copyright 2005, Bobby Easland". So i'm not sure.

So now I have just upgraded to Zencart 1.3.8 and downloaded google sitemap v 1.3.15 and not sure what I should do to implement the upgrade. I did a clean install of Zencart 1.3.8, so none of the site files are installed from the old version. However, my db still has whatever was put in by the original googlesitemap SQL file.

    Please help.

    Thanks

    DD

Sorry, but I don't understand - you "upgraded to Zencart 1.3.8" or "did a clean install of Zencart 1.3.8"?

I think you can simply reinstall google sitemap: overwrite all files and run install.sql
