A very old version indeed, upgrade to 3.4.1 :). Make sure you check the upgrade note:

ok. walk me through the update. where do i download the new version. i thought it does that automatcally..., i wen't to admin-tools-module manager and clicked update on your mod... nothing happed. it seems

Then use the walk through above (delete 3 files, upload the new package....)
No need to re upload the .htaccess btw

If you are worried, you can use 2.9.6.

The fact that I recommend 3.4.1 means that it's good enough, but if you want a really stable one then go for 2.9.6

What does error SSU_LINK_ALIAS duplicate entry indicate , it sounds like it's two of something but in the error message I see a make link alias true but on doing so nothing happens?

It means that somehow you have certain sql patches run more than once, can you copy the exact error, and where you get it, how you get it?

This is on installation of 2.9.7 and the entire site was blank too so I took everything out and uploaded everything again but the same thing happened . So I took it out and am trying to figure it out , I was thinking module manager might have something to do with it or html_output.php
