Default Inserting image into main page

Why isn't this as simple as uploading an image via define pages editor and then moving the picture around to where you want it?

Could someone please explain how I insert a picture into the main page...

    Many thanks
    Arkie....

That's exactly how simple it is. What's happening when you do that?

Can you put text on that page through the Editor?

Are you sure the permissions for the define pages are correct?

Is the image you're trying to insert in the proper folder?

What happens when you manually code the image (<a href ...) into define_main_page?

Hi and thanks for your reply....

Maybe I should have added that i'm an ageing technophobe and what may seem simple to some people is like quantum physics to me.

When I try to add an image, a new window opens asking me to put in the URL of the image. Does this mean I have to host my images on a third party website?

Why isn't there a button that says 'upload your image' ?

Yes I can add text to the page

    Thanks
    Arkie

I'll bet I'm older than you, so that's no excuse .

You need to tell the Editor where the image is in your Zencart files.
It looks like you need the entire path in that URL box, so if you wanted to put the logo on the main page, and you're using the Classic template, it would be http: //www.yoursite.com/includes/templates/classic/images/logo.gif

In zen-cart 1.3.7 we would usually receive a pop up window with all the images files and main directory which make it easy to see and choose the photo.
With the new 1.8 version the pop up windw is asking for the url so you don't see the photo before inserting it.
The old way is much easier to handle, is there a better way to deal with this guys?
