I didnt know your up to version 3.7.5, what are the major differences between my version and the new?

Here are my screenshots. I listed 4, 2 of which are for specific categories. Go to the provided link for those categories and notice the difference in the links and category names. I am providing links because the file and resolution are to big and are hard to read in the correct format that zen requests. i am not making them actually links because i dont want them linked to my site.

Hi there,

I just downloaded and installed this mod, it seemed to install ok, but im having some problems:

After installation I got a warning at the top that includes/configure.php was writable(it was set at 644). The
error only stopped after i changed permissions to 444.

My URL's are still displaying as before, and in the Admin->SSU when I first tried to reset the cache, it said the
cache/ssu directory didnt exist, so I created it, but still does not seem to do anything.

When i load the ssu_check.php, i get the following:

WARNING: Checking includes/configure.php

WARNING: Suggested .htaccess content

Success

WARNING: Checking cache write permission

I believe I accidentally lost my original .htaccess during the install process, could this be part of the problem?

Apologies if this has be solved before, but i scanned through a few of the 389 pages in this thread and did not get very far...

I have a feeling this can be dealt with by the Set Query Key's Exclude List but I was hoping for confirmation and help before I make any changes....

Google is indexing 2 (or more) versions of some category pages, causing duplicate (or very similar) content.

This is happening because of the sort buttons.

So I'm getting

/widgets-c-28

/widgets-c-28/?page=1&sort=2a

/widgets-c-28/?page=1&sort=3a

I notice that I have the words "sort" and "page" in the exclude list already - do I need to do something else? Or do I have other problems?

If you get stuck on the main page, more than likely your htaccess has not been set correctly

check to see if it is

You seem to be confused about exclude, that setting doesnt have anything to do with which page google should index. Regarding duplicated content, the 2 articles above will help you. In short, the 2 pages above may not be duplicated at all.

@batteryman : The zenid appearing on all links on all pages are probably caused by your session setting inside admin-configuration-session (or something like that, dont remember the exact name)

Regarding the main issue, I suggest you clear up all your alias via the alias manager then clear your whole ssu cache.

Thanks for great mod

I have one problem with SSU enabled it is not possible for a customer to remove an item from the cart using the X icon next to the product in the cart!

In order to allow them to remove a product i have to enable product quantities and instruct them to enter 0 as the quantity and press the circular arrow button to remove from the cart.

When i turn OFF SSU it works with the X button.. but when ON it doesnt.

I suggest to all users of SSU, check that you arent having this problem... you can lose a HUGE amount of sales and your customers wont bother to tell you about this problem they will shop elsewhere!

Can anyone advise?

Thanks yellow1912 - I was hoping that exclude would write a singe URL for the different sort orders... but thinking about it logically, the customer would then not be able to sort the results!

I don't suppose there is a way to have the sort results on a single page without javascript or something.

I've skimmed the posts you mention (will read in more detail later). In my case the content is duplicate (just re-ordered) but yes, I see that added canonical tags isn't going to be as straightforward as would be thought...

I guess the best solution is to code the sort function and similar with Java, although I'm not sure it will matter. I think I'm seeing these duplicate pages Googles index as the suite is quite new. I imagine that Google will eventually spot that they are duplicate and the drop the least important one, which should be the re-sorted one as it will have less incoming links...

In short, I think it will all sort itself out. Do you agree, or have any other comments?
