Why are the changes I made in my admin not showing on my product pages?

Greetings!

I am trying to get administrative changes made to my product pages to show up when the pages are viewed and, am not having much success. For example, I have turned off the Write a Review, Tell A Friend, Product Added Date and Display Product Quantity functions, but those items and buttons are still there when I call the pages up.

After changing layouts for product categories, do existing product pages need to be re-entered and regenerated so that new outputs incorporate the changes called for?

Did you turn these features off under

Catalog > Product Types > RELAVANT_PRODUCT_TYPE > Edit Layout?

From your post it sounds like you turned things off under categories but maybe not the product type itself?

Thanks for your reply. The features were turned off under
each of the relevant Product Types following the path
you mentioned above.

BTW, I forgot to say earlier I am using version 1.3.8a
