Why do you think it's important to customers to see how many hits your store is getting? Most experts I've read suggest that such information is counter-productive, and (don't take this the wrong way) makes the site smell of amateurishness.
Maybe you have very good reason for displaying it, but if it's just for your own reference, that's why it's available in the admin. If it's for ego-stroking, that's the wrong motive. If it's because you have a legitimate reason for people who cannot access your admin to be able to see the hit traffic, then feel free to proceed.
Just be sure you have a calculated reason. Otherwise it might be a counter-productive move.

Just sharing a tip to help steer in the right direction ;)

    Hmmm...good points, thanks!

I hadn't run across that POV before, but I can see the reasoning. To be honest, I never look at the counter anyway, just thought it was something expected on a store front.

So...one more task completed - man, this is easy!
