UPS Shipping - not working (UPS-XML addon)

Just wondering if this is working.
I am getting this message:

We are unable to obtain a rate quote for UPS shipping.
Please contact the store if no other alternative is shown.

Note I am in Canada, and not sure if anything needs changing to make it work for my location.

I've seen other threads that say you need to use the UPS XML module if you're shipping from or within Canada, not the default UPS module in Zen Cart. It's available from the Wiki link (above, right) under 3rd Party Contributions/Shipping Modules.

I've downloaded and installed that and can't get it to work. The author tells me it does work with 1.3.8a so there's something wrong with my setup I guess. I've started another thread in this forum asking for help with it, but no answer so far.

Let me know if you've got this working please.

I don't think it works with 1.3.8
It is dated 2005, far before 1.3.8 was released.
I think in the past 3 years, something might need updating.

I've been in touch with the author and he says it works in a clean install of 1.3.8a. I've no reason to doubt him.

But I've tried installing it on 2 different sites, one running 1.3.8a and one running 1.3.6 and neither works. I believe there is something wrong with the way I'm setting it up, but I can't figure out what. And UPS tech support is zero help, so far.

Good question. I'm working on someone else's site and they are registered. Got the access key and all that. But I don't know if they registered at ups.com or .ca. I'll have to ask them.

I think it's all the same.
.com is the standard site and you just choose your country.

Finally got registered with UPS and had to wait several days for account to be activated.

Went through all the steps and got it working.

Only problem I found is that the weight appears wrong.
Seems to add 3kg. On a 3.9kg item, it comes up 6.9kg.

I'm still stuck. Basically I'm seeing a yellow button in the list of shipping modules opposite the upsxml module. It should be green. And of course, when I try to test it out on the site, I get an error from UPS.

Logically, it looks like Zen Cart itself sees something wrong, but a yellow button is not informative so I've no idea what the problem is. I've filled in all the fields with appropriate info - I think. One small thing: it says to enter the three-letter UPS currency code. I filled in the same thing I have in ZC, CAD. Maybe UPS uses a different currency code for Canada? If so, I couldn't find a list of them on their site. In fact, in case anyone can see something wrong, here is what is filled in the module settings so far (with some info removed for obvious reasons)...

You are using a very very very old USPS shipping module ...

You really need to be using the current USPS shipping module and follow all the instructions to upgrade it:

NOTE: when your weight is 3 higher than you think it should be, check your Shipping/Packaging settings for the Tare Weight which, by default, is adding 3 to the total weight ...

I think you just got cross-threaded somehow. This thread is about the UPS-XML shipping module, and I don't think tare weight has come up as an issue - yet. :smile:

One thing I notice right off the bat is that you didn't change from TEST to PRODUCTION mode.

Try changing that and test it.

Also, did you use the access key or the developers key?

I've tried both test and production mode. But it should work in either, shouldn't it? Otherwise what's the test mode for?

I used the access key, not the dev key.

The really curious thing about this was that when I clicked Install in the list of shipping modules, the button was green after the install. But when I entered all my info in the fileds, then saved it and went back to the list, the button had terned yellow. That suggests strongly that Zen Cart thinks something is wrong. Of course it can't judge things like keys and passwords and such -- only the UPS server can respond to those. Zen Cart can only evaluate what it understands, but what the heck is it evaluating? Maybe I better go and read the .php files I installed and try to figure out what it's doing.

I had entered all my info the first time and it was green, but the other UPS mode was yellow which I didn't setup.
I went to the other yellow UPS and removed it, and an error popped up. Clicked on refresh, and then I notice both UPS were now red.
I reinstalled the UPS XML, and entered info and it was working.

Might be worth a try. Not exactly the same but similiar.

What error do you get?

Is it in the checkout process?

Oddly, or maybe not so odd given the complexity of the admin interface, I did almost the exact same thing. Installed upsxml, then noticed the regular UPS module was also active (and yellow), so I deactivated it, which also deactivated upsxml, which I then reinstalled. But I never got green after entering my setup info, before or after deactivating the other UPS module.

The error, which occurs during the checkout process, is...

If you prefer to use ups as your shipping method, please contact [the site I'm working on] via Email.

I changed my setting to match your, and I got the yellow circle, but I still get quotes.

If you change the shipping zone to NONE, it goes beck to green.

Hard to say why this happens. Nice if there was a message to tell you why it turns yellow, so you could debug the issue, if there actually is one.

Not sure why it's not quoting. Uploaded unmodified files worked ok here. I have no knowledge of coding, so I am looking at settings to see if I can trigger your problem.
