Attached a copy of the ep.php that I mdified as directed in the first post.

Take a look at lines 497, 520, 1910 please.
Do I need to make any changes there?

You forgot around line 1924 to copy and paste that line of code. Other than that you should have no problems now.

Thanks, took care of it.

Next problem has to do with the DB so I posted in this thread:

Lankeeyankee,
I really appreciate all the help you've provided and hope I can return the favor at some point.

THANK YOU!!

Re: Here's a quick tutorial on how to add fields to easypopulate v1.2.5.4 or 1.2.5.5

Ok - have no idea what to do but in my other post:

http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=176918

it said to come here - so I'm here and I can add my single issue that's easily searchable into one long thread but I degress

So - I read the start and got lost almost right at the start.

I know EzPop has a weight field.

I'm using the Cda Post shipping Module

Has lbs/kg weight options
Did the weight via Ez no problems.

Now when I look at a product I see in this order

Weight + Imperial/metric radio buttons
Dimensions + Imperial/metric radio buttons
Length
Width
Height

Question 1 - the excel sheet

Would I set the columns into this order on the excel sheet?

v_products_weight
v_products_weight_setting_Imperial <setting would be yes if used or no if not
v_products_weight_setting_Metric <setting would be yes if used or no if not
v_products_dimension_setting_Imperial <setting would be yes if used or no if not
v_products_dimension_setting_Metric <setting would be yes if used or no if not
v_products_Length
v_products_Width
v_products_Height

Question 2 - will the Canada Post module recognize the EzPop data?

Question 3 - will this even work?

Question 4 - How / where would I look? Do I do the database search thing from the first post then do the modifications? Do I search for that or something else?

Sorry if I sound peeved but I really don’t want to be at work today - yesterday burnt me out.

After looking at computer code for a while - I think I'm going crazy but the voice in my head assures me that I'm not! http://www.jecphotography.com/mystore

I Followed the steps in the first post and this worked for me. My Easy Pop Excel sheet now has the length, width, height fields for me to massively enter the dimensions and upload to the site.

Re: Here's a quick tutorial on how to add fields to easypopulate v1.2.5.4 or 1.2.5.5

Hi All, I have posted this before, but think this is the right thread to be in.
Using EPv1.2.5.7 and ZC1.3.9

I created a new table with two additional fields and want them to populate with EP. I have added the two fields to my products_table also. in the admin area, do I add the names in the custom fields??Do I now just need to change the easypopulate.php file by duplicating e.g. weight field and renaming with my two new field names or is there more to including fields from another DB into EP. I have read pretty most of this thread so hopefully haven't missed something, think I am on the right track according two a few of the experts although schoolboy referred to getting prof help when doing this so wondering if there is more customisation that I think in this. Please help!

This thread is specific to EP v 1.2.5.4. I have never used the version you are using so unfortunately I can't help you. I tried other versions and found them buggy one way or another so I always use this older version. If you decide to switch to 1.2.5.4 follow my steps in the first post and you should be able to easily add the extra fields. Remember, if you are not using prefixes on your database tables to leave off the zen_

Thank you so much for the instructions lankeeyankee, even 3 years down the line and everything in your first post works just fine :)

I had no need to download your file tho, so that part of your post may not be needed now as I simply edited the easypopulate.php file already on my server, which worked perfectly :)

I really need some help with this. How can I make it to also import images for manufactures? Do I do the same thing? How do I tell easy populate how to import the image and where to import it? I really need to be able to do this cause I have over 1000 venders that have manufacture logo. Please any one who can help. I am not a programer but I am learning all that I can.:frusty:

Thanks,

This module can't do that. It only works with the products table of the database. You can write a simple SQL statement to insert the image values into the database and bulk upload the images to the correct directory using FTP.

Re: Here's a quick tutorial on how to add fields to easypopulate v1.2.5.4 or 1.2.5.5

I am running 1.3.8 with EP 1.2.5.4 and wanted to include v_products_sort_order in my sheet. I followed the advice of post #1 exactly and kept getting a MSGSTACK_ERROR_SQL. There is one additional item you have to add to the 1.2.5.4 file around line 1916 in the INSERT INTO section. If following the instrux in post #1, you have to duplicate the products_weight on 1916 and change to your custom field. Otherwise, you will get the MSGSTACK error b/c you are trying to insert the additional line of data which has already been read without a destination in your db.

Re: Here's a quick tutorial on how to add fields to easypopulate v1.2.5.4 or 1.2.5.5

lankeeyankee:

Art,

It looks like, in your first post, that there are more VALUES being added than there are rows in the table, thus the error message you received:

MySQL error 1136: Column count doesn't match value count

In your second post, it looks like you don't have EOREOR at the end of your row which is why the only one added is the first record, or since the column count and value count don't match it is throwing it off.

This often happens with a quote ending up throwing things off. If you look at the VALUES you were trying to insert you will see after the weight and quantity values there is a '', followed by '0', '13'. I'd look at the spreadsheet file to make sure all values are in their correct columns and that you have EOREOR at the end of each row.

Please let me know if you are still having trouble. You can post your spreadsheet file and your easypopulate file so I can see what's going on.

The answer is found at line 1916. You have to dupe products_weight and then change to products_yourfield. Otherwise, you are trying to insert more lines than what the code is willing to handle. MSGSTACK_ERROR_SQL fixed this way for me!

Have you already loaded the manufacturers' NAMES into the database? IE: you have their names there already, just not the images?

... or do you still need to add their names too?

Re: Here's a quick tutorial on how to add fields to easypopulate v1.2.5.4 or 1.2.5.5

Hi, I'm having the same problem that ARTMUNS had (about 3 yeasr ago) but I didn't seem to find an answer to him...

I've made the update to add a new field on Easy Populate (products.quantity_order_units) and it works for existing products but it is now unable to add new products. It shows the following error:
ADD NEW PRODUCT FAILED! - Model: teste - SQL error. Check Easy Populate error log in uploads directory

I went to check the error log and it shows this:

MySQL error 1136: Column count doesn't match value count at row 1

When executing:
INSERT INTO zen_products (
products_image,
products_model,
products_price,
products_status,
products_last_modified,
products_date_added,
products_date_available,
products_tax_class_id,
products_weight,
products_quantity,
manufacturers_id)
VALUES (
'../images/armazem/ACE-AGF-010001.jpg','teste',
'11.15',
'100',
'1',
CURRENT_TIMESTAMP,
"2011-01-06 09:00",
NULL,
'1',
'0',
'1000',
'1')

I understand that there are less fields than values added but I don't understand why. The field that I added it's not shown on error log "products_quantity_order_units" as not other fields that I use, such as categories 1, 2 and 3...

What could be happening?

In looking at the sql values, the status is being set to 100 and then the rest of your values are off after that. You are inserting 12 values into 11 fields. So somewhere you missed an edit or entered something incorrectly. Go back and check, because it's not products.quantity_order_units in the db table, it's products_quantity_order_units and I bet that was the value of 100 that was trying to be inserted.

For anyone else that comes across this post that is having similar problems, it always helps to look closely at the error message being returned. In this case, you can count that there are 12 values being inserted into 11 fields and can trace which one is throwing the error which narrows down what to look for.
