Scheduled Events Add-On

Pictures are seldom helpful in this situation. That's why I asked for a link and the steps taken to see what you are seeing.
I see the same in all browsers.
Your best bet may be to open a post in the thread for the template.

Re: Scheduled Events Add-On

Hi
I think the error is from the optional sideboxes files.

Because they are being merged into the existing Template files, i feel that the error is there where the file merge has not been done correctly.

I will check on that and let you know.

Thank you

Re: Scheduled Events Add-On

That's why I asked for a link and the steps taken to see what you are seeing.I already had the link but am unable to make any browser show me what you took a picture of.
Unless you can give me precise steps to get to the same view you took a picture of, I cannot be of help. This really needs to be in another thread since it does not relate to the mod.
I suggest Westminster New thread

Re: Scheduled Events Add-On

Is there a 1.5.6c compatible version coming out, as this mod would be great with the workshops I teach :-)

Re: Scheduled Events Add-On

It's in work to bring it into the admin and keep all items in house.

Meanwhile, you might want to see if the new version of lat9's news box manager will work for you. https://www.zen-cart.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=2264

Re: Scheduled Events Add-On

Thank you!

And yes, I will have a look at that one too... this new website I'm doing is a smaller version of my existing large one (focusing on the essential oils only). Once I have it all working as I want it, I will migrate/rebuild my 1.3.7h version... it's exciting seeing all these addons now being available. :-)

Re: Scheduled Events Add-On

Until I can do what I really want to do with this mod, a way to work with at least PHP 7.2 and earlier is to go to https://github.com/plirof/phpMyEdit-PHP7.0 and use the phpMyEdit.class.php file from there in your eventz folder.

This has been tested with PHP 7.2 with no problems.

Re: Scheduled Events Add-On

I've been putting band-aids on this mod for clients for too long. Apologies for not providing a formal update, but life events don't often go as planned.

Here's what's been done:

A complete rebuild of the classic Scheduled Events add-on as a modern, fully encapsulated Zen Cart plugin. Where the original required manually FTPing folders, patching your database with a SQL file, and touching files you may have already customized, this version installs and uninstalls entirely through Zen Cart's own plugin manager - no core files are ever modified, and nothing needs to be run by hand.

Display your upcoming events (shows, fairs, expos, in-person appearances, etc.) on their own storefront page, fully managed from a dedicated admin screen. Past events automatically drop off the display.

STOREFRONT

  • A dedicated events page listing every currently-qualifying event, each showing its name, place, start/stop dates, and any optional comments, booth location, event information, and driving directions.
  • Events become visible a configurable number of days before they start (30/60/90), and stay visible through their stop date. A friendly "no events scheduled" message (with the current date window) shows when nothing currently qualifies.
  • Booth Location and Event Information can each carry an optional link - a floor-plan map, a parking image, the event's own website, whatever's useful - with no HTML authoring required. A bad or missing link never breaks the page; it just falls back to plain text.
  • Driving Directions accepts a plain address (opens Google Maps in a new tab) or a Google Maps "Embed a map" code, which instead opens as a self-contained pop-up right on the page - no navigating away, and the map isn't even fetched unless a visitor actually opens it.
  • A link to the events page is always added to your template's Information sidebox, styled to match responsive_classic and ZCA Bootstrap out of the box. An optional second promotional spot - an auto-scrolling carousel sidebox - is available for Bootstrap-based templates, placed via Layout Boxes Controller, and automatically adapts itself for mobile/tablet screens.
  • A master switch hides the entire storefront presence at any time, without uninstalling.

ADMIN

  • Manage every event from Extras > Scheduled Events: add, edit, delete, sort by date/name/place, and see everything at a glance in a clean list.
  • An Active checkbox lets you pause an event without deleting it or losing its dates - handy for a show that's on hiatus but might return. Paused events stay out of sight on the storefront but remain easy to find and reactivate later via a "Show All" toggle.
  • All page text, field labels, the display window, and sidebox options are configurable under Configuration > Scheduled Events - no code editing required.

COMPATIBILITY

Requires Zen Cart 2.0.0 or later; developed and tested against Zen Cart 2.2.2/2.2.3 and PHP 8.5.

Until approved by the Plugins monitor, the code is available at https://github.com/dbltoe/Scheduled_Events/releases/tag/eventz2.0.0

Re: Scheduled Events Add-On

v2.0.1

This release is a security hardening pass, run before packaging rather than in response to a reported problem.

The admin page now refuses to run unless IS_ADMIN_FLAG is set. When reached normally, as admin/index.php?cmd=eventz, the bootstrap has already defined it, so the check costs nothing. It matters because the zc_plugins folder remains web-accessible wherever the shipped .htaccess isn't honored, including nginx, which reads none at all, and Apache running under AllowOverride None. On those setups, a direct request for the file previously produced a fatal error that disclosed the full server path.

The language directory used to build the fallback language-file include path is now restricted to a plain directory name; otherwise, it falls back to English. Zen Cart validates that value before this point, so it was not exploitable as shipped, but it was still a variable on the include path.

Clicking an event in the scrolling sidebox now offsets its jump so the event heading is not hidden beneath a fixed or sticky navbar, such as the one in ZCA Bootstrap.

The readme now ships inside the plugin folder along with its screenshots, and its changelog link points to the right place.

Upgrading from v2.0.0 reconciles an existing installation rather than assuming its state. The active column is added if missing, the retired Sidebox Display Mode setting is removed, and the admin menu entry is re-registered so it appears under Extras, even if it was previously under Catalog.

Re: Scheduled Events Add-On

Scheduled Events v2.0.4 is out. It covers everything since v2.0.1, the last release announced here, and it now runs on Zen Cart 2.0.0 through 3.0.0.

  • Zen Cart 2.0.x: 2.0.1 wouldn't install. The installer stopped with a blank page, and the storefront events page stopped with "Class EventzService not found". Both are fixed.
  • Zen Cart 2.1.x: the plugin installed, but Extras > Scheduled Events stopped with "Undefined constant FILENAME_EVENTZ". Fixed.
  • Upgrading through Plugin Manager stopped with a database "Duplicate entry" error after adding a second, empty Scheduled Events configuration group. The upgrade now reuses the existing group, and it removes an empty duplicate if an earlier attempt left one behind.
  • Zen Cart 2.3.0 and 3.0.0 are now listed as supported.

Before release we ran it on clean installs of Zen Cart 2.0, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3 and 3.0.0, on every PHP version each supports: install, the admin event list, adding an event, the storefront events page, and uninstall.

To upgrade, upload zc_plugins/ScheduledEvents/v2.0.4/ and click Upgrade beside Scheduled Events in Admin → Modules → Plugin Manager. Your events and settings are kept.
