Ceon URI Mapping (SEO)

Ok I uploaded. it should be, but pages are same, they haven't changed.

ADMIN>Moduls>CEON Mapping URL This how it is:

First One is Yes
2nd - Single Dash
3rd - chose - Convert Category Names/Product Names/Manufacturer Names/EZ-Page Titles to lowercase (E.g. “medalofhonor”/“medal-of-honor”).
4th - -, a, an, this, that
5th - £=>GBP, $=>USD
6th is empty

but still all my pages look like these /index.php?main_page=index&cPath=1&zenid=83d6988a766fe574b1e9e5f6ea084091

can someone help me to adjust
thanks

If you have Simple Seo installed and you are trying to use this module too it wont work. I'm not sure if that is Simple Seo you have installed. Simple Seo configuration doesn't look like that. You have to install one or the other. This is the wrong thread for Simple Seo or whatever module that is you have installed. If you want to use Ceon URI Mapping (SEO) you have to uninstall Simple Seo or whatever other module you have installed. .htaccess rules are totally different.

As countrycharm has said, you need to remove Simple SEO first of all.

Then you'll need to go through each category and product and tick "Update" to have the URI for each category/product generated and saved. The Ceon URI Mapping module doesn't automatically add URIs for all your categories/products, you must do that!

Hope that helps!

As an aside.. thanks Randy for all your answers recently, that's very good of you to help these other people out, I'm used to me having to do it all! :)

All the best..

Re: Ceon URI Mapping (SEO)

Thanks for support,

I removed all SIMPLE URL files, but for some reason only that part didn't remove. Do you know where is the file located that I have to remove to. I don't think Simple URL that part block to run CEON because all files had been removed before installing CEON URL Mapping. I updated Category, but still doesn't work. I even created new category and it still deosn't work.

Thanks for all these help

Hi harry,

expensivedesign:

Do you know where is the file located that I have to remove to.

I'm finding your English a little difficult to follow but if you send me FTP and admin details for your site I think it would be quicker for me just to take a quick look instead of trying to debug what you've done wrong here.

You can get in contact via this address.

All the best..

You haven't installed the module properly, missing out all the core admin file changes. Also, there is no htaccess file present! Simply install the module from the start once again, this time being sure not to miss out any steps/modifications/configuration.

Do I have to upload all files from _docs? I haven't yet. I uploaded only folder FILES, MODIFIED CORE FILES AND TEMPLATE OVERRIDE FILES.

And old categoryes after update shows 404 not found404 error implies that something is wrong with your .htaccess file.. However, I think there is more than that going on here.. Based on reading all of your posts it's kinda clear that you have not installed this module correctly.. Did you read through the readme thoroughly BEFORE attempting to install this module?? I ALWAYS (without fail) read all of the readme files that come with any module I intend to install so I know what I need to do and what to expect) Conor has one of the BEST written and most thorough readme files out there, and if you read it all and follow ALL of the instructions this module should install the first time without a hitch..

I suggest taking the following steps now..

  • Rollback your site to the state it was in BEFORE you installed the Ceon URI module.
  • I install ALL modules by making a backup of my store files and DB. Then I make a copy of my store's backup files (I call it my working copy).
  • Using a file merging program I merge in the module's code into my working store copy. (Winmerge is free but Beyond Compare -- which Conor suggested to me -- is MUCH better)
  • Then I upload the new and modified files to my store.
Sounds like a lot of work?? Well look at it this way I spend more time upfront making sure the module is installed correctly the first time versus hours of troubleshooting later.. Best of all I can always roll back to my previous state anytime.

Re: Ceon URI Mapping (SEO)

Ok Thanks to Conor for support. He e-mailed me .htaccess file. I uploaded and this is how link look like https://www.mysite.com/candle-holder?zenid=fc5fe949dcb5567335b9d00d1389f943 and it shows 410 error page. I checked .htaccess Numeric value is 664. I even changed to 777 numeric value but still same thing.

I e-mailed you yesterday with a copy of the file you need.. maybe your spam software blocked the e-mail? I'll resend it now. If you don't get it then simply read the section of the documentation "configuration" and use the first example rewrite rule, it's all you need on your site.

As I was saying, you have no .htaccess file in the main folder which is required for the software to work (unless a VirtualHost directive is used but that's not something which applies for you).

All the best..

It doesn't come with the module, but there are very clear instructions in Conor's well written readme which covers how to create one and WHERE you need to put it..

Re: Ceon URI Mapping (SEO)

Conor already sent me the .htaccess I already uploaded but it still shows 410 page error. Mine is Yahoo webhosting and it doesn't allow me to upload file with dot, so I had to rename it to htaccess (no dot). I tried to rename it back to dot after upload, but it still didn't let me. I have other htaccess file in ADMIN folder and INCLUDES folder and they are without dots, works perfect. I think it is not the dot, the problem is something else.

As this is a problem with the server and not the software I'm afraid no more support will be given on this issue. This sort of thing needs to be sorted by the webhost, there's nothing any of us can do.

Contact your webhost and ask them to add the rewrite rule to your site since you can't use .htaccess files to add it yourself.

I wish you good luck in getting this server problem sorted.

All the best..

This is the heart of your issue.. Yahoo webhosting is not a Zen Cart compatible/friendly hosting provider.. Not being able to install this module is only the TIP of the iceberg as long as you continue to host your store with Yahoo.. In fact Yahoo is not a good hosting provider for MOST open source software (WordPress, etc..) I've had two clients who had to change hosts in order to use Zen Cart and/or WordPress.. You will need to change hosting provider.

If you have questions regarding which hosting companies are recommended for Zen Cart, you should check out other threads on this forum which cover that specific topic. (this support thread is not the place to have that particular discussion)
