Ceon URI Mapping (SEO)

Still trying on installing this addons in my website... but it seems so hard:frusty:
When I click a product/category that has a Ceon modified url I just get this:

Not Found

The requested URL /shop/ideeregalo was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Apache/2.2.14 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.2.14 OpenSSL/0.9.7a mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_bwlimited/1.4 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635 PHP/5.2.11 Server at alepia.ch Port 80

What's the matter??:shocking:

Thanks for the help!

Hi,

Read the section of the manual "Specifying the current URI Mapping for any other Zen Cart page".. I guess that mod probably uses a value for main_page of:

ask_a_question

Enter your chosen URI and then the other values for the record in the database table should be the same as in the docs.

Hope that helps...

All the best..

Did you try what Conor suggested.. Because it should work the same way as it would if you created friendly links for the "Tell a Friend" pages.. If that does not work, I'm not sure Conor will be able to help address questions on what code changes are required for another mod to work with his..

it works in that way that I get this url: mysite/ask-a-guestion?products_id=xxxx which is almost the same as a common zen url with only product_id parameter but still not cool one. I need to get similar url to send a friend url for product. However I set not to index ask a question urls I still think that it is cool for custumers. Maybe you suggested me to place in my phpadmin for every product one extra row for ask a question url but it would be crazy to do that with somany products :(

That said, as far as I know the URL that you have is about as cool as it's gonna get. This is similar to how the URLS for the "Tell A Friend" will work with this mod.

Maybe you suggested me to place in my phpadmin for every product one extra row for ask a question url but it would be crazy to do that with somany products :(Wasn't suggesting this at all or I would have explicitly stated so. I did suggest you try Conor's suggestion (which you did). I also suggested that anything you want outside of that won't be something that Conor would necessarily be able to support as you might be asking for something a LOT more custom.

**Does Conor's SEO mod work with the "Ask A Question" mod?? **
Yes..

**Does it work the way you would like??? **
No..

**Will Conor be able to help you get the links to look the way you would like??? **
Can't speak for Conor, but I imagine that if he has time/willingness to help you with customizations to another authors module then he will..

Re: Ceon URI Mapping (SEO)

I am trying to map the following link in phpMyAdmin:

/store/index.php?main_page=index&typefilter=record_company&record_company_id=1

It will end up looking like: /store/Publishing-Group/Northland-Recordings

I have tried numerous combinations, but I must be entering wrong values somewhere. Could anyone provide some assistance?

Thank you in advance.

Hi,

I see what you are trying/want to do.. use the "Automated support for standard Zen Cart pages related to a Product", extending it to supporting the "Ask A Question" module as well as the currently support "Reviews" and "Tell a friend" product-related pages.

Obviously that is indeed possible but as you say would require core changes, specifically in the product section of the admin.

I don't really have time for that at the minute but will certainly consider it for a future version of the module.

All the best...

Re: Ceon URI Mapping (SEO)

Hi,

Ingham QLD:

I am trying to map the following link in phpMyAdmin:

/store/index.php?main_page=index&typefilter=record_company&record_company_id=1

It will end up looking like: /store/Publishing-Group/Northland-Recordings

First off, please read the section of the documentation "Specifying the current URI Mapping for any other Zen Cart page". Section 2 applies to you.

You'll want to use

index

for main_page

current_uri would be 1

uri would be

/store/Publishing-Group/Northland-Recordings

query_string_parameters would be

typefilter=record_company&record_company_id=1

That should hopefully work.

All the best...

Thanks, Conor.

I am using a header menu dropdown and found that even when I had set up the URI correctly in phpMyAdmin, I had to manually change the link in the dropdown menu (to the new URI).

I noticed the same problem with other links I was configuring. I had to manually replace the old links to make them work.

Everything is working well now!

A donation will be on its way shortly. I appreciate your time and effort to make this module.

Hi Pete,

How are you?

Ingham QLD:

It sounds like that menu had the links hardcoded?

Ingham QLD:

Everything is working well now!

That's the main thing then!

Have a happy Christmas and a happy New Year! :)

All the best...

Re: Ceon URI Mapping (SEO)

Hi Alan,

I'm guessing that your rewrite rule is blocking the folder the image is in or that you are allowing images to be rewritten (the standard example rules don't rewrite images).

Try checking the rules and the path to the image and add any necessary exclusions (in a similar manner to excluding control panel folders etc.). Or just make sure images aren't rewritten and the image's file name has an extension (.jpg, png etc.).

Happy Christmas!

All the best...

Re: Ceon URI Mapping (SEO)

Hello Conor,

I think there might be a bug with the URI mapping as i am getting the following error when i click on the preview description link in the categories section in admin?

Fatal error: Call to a member function MoveNext() on a non-object in /home/globalm6/public_html/gmadmin/includes/modules/product/preview_info.php on line 98

Re: Ceon URI Mapping (SEO)

I think there is a another bug as well. When you autogenerate a URL for a linked product then this is causing the product to be automatically linked in an additional category. For example, I have linked a product in two categories 'DDR2 SODIMM' and 'LAPTOP MEMORY', but when a product from these categories has a URL autogenerated then based on the description, a third link for the same product is automatically created in a third category e.g. 'ACER LAPTOP MEMORY'?

Re: Ceon URI Mapping (SEO)

Hi,

globalmemory:

I think there is a another bug as well.

I'm afraid neither of your problems can be caused by the module.. you must have modified something else on your site which has affected your product_info and update_product.php files.

So you can rule out this module.. I hope you can find the problem! :)

To everyone here.. HAPPY CHRISTMAS!

For obvious reasons support from Ceon will be at a minimum over the holiday period so please bear with us if you have any problems, it could take a while to get a response from us.

Enjoy the holidays! :)

All the best...

Re: Ceon URI Mapping (SEO)

I'm currently using Simple SEO URL SSU, but got some problem. May I know if there is any crash if I install CEON URL too? Of course, I will set SSU to be disabled in the admin panel.

Re: Ceon URI Mapping (SEO)

i used to use SSU but had to many bugs and support requests didnt get answered. It is easy enough to uninstall, SSU wiki gives instructions how to including and SQL patch to run to clean up the DB. After i uninstalled i installed Ceons and found NO conflicts... hope that helps

Re: Ceon URI Mapping (SEO)

Conor - Thanks for this mod. Just getting into working with it.

Is there a shortcut to exclude ALL files from a folder? The reason I'm asking, we are using the Wordpress integration WOZ and :I think: URI Mapping is messing with the Wordpress login After login it redirects to the Zen Cart site home page.

We can get back by entering a specific file name, like widgets.php, but I'm looking for a folder level solution.

Happy Holidays

Happy HolidaysYou need to exclude the blog folder in your htaccess file.. (the line should look similar to the one that exclues your admin folder) But if I recall, there is code in the WOZ config file that creates issues with SEO mods.. I don't know if this was addressed in the new version of WOZ.

sorry but when i replace your file with an unmodified file then the preview link works, but when your modified file is used then it doesn't?
