Is it possible to change the width of the sidebox. And increase how much of the product name is shown??

You can change the width of the sidebox using

admin configuration -> layout settings ->

Column Width - Left Boxes
Column Width - Right Boxes

Column Width - Left
Column Width - Right

My Column has been adjusted but the scroller does strech.

You can change the width by editing includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/css/style_jscroller.css

.scroller_container {
margin:0 auto;
position: relative;
height: 120px;
width: 100px;
overflow: hidden;
text-align: center;
}

You can adjust the length of the product name in

admin -> configuration -> layout settings ->
Bestsellers - Truncate Product Names

I'd really like to see a configurable delay between images.

Alternatively, does anyone know of a sidebox that deos a fade in and out?

Currently the link goes to your new products page.

and uses the format (FILENAME_PRODUCTS_NEW) (BOX_HEADING_WHATS_NEW)

So if you want to change the name of the link you can do a search in languages/english.php for (BOX_HEADING_WHATS_NEW) and make your changes there

In that case you'll need to open includes/modules/sideboxes/YOUR_TEMPLATE/whats_new.php

and change the actual page to the link
(FILENAME_PRODUCTS_NEW)

The sideboxes use the small image height/width which you have set in

admin -> configuration -> images

I haven't looked at any other sideboxes, but I imagine that you could adapt the Sidebox for list Manufacturers logos
