Contest System [support thread]

OK - I fixed it - in the uploads folder the contest end is in the YOUR_TEMPLATE folder and it should be uploaded to /includes/languages/english/html_includes I moved it to there and now we are up and running again!

That's great to hear.

When I click on enter contest link in the sidebox, it takes me to the contest page. But all I see is at the top is Home : Contest, and the rest is blank.

Is there something I did wrong?

Check that you copied all the YOUR_TEMPLATE files/folders to your iC_AthemeV1.3 templet folders.

And double check admin->configuration->contest you need to enter a product ID# in the prize option. The ID# needs to be an active product.

This mod uses the over ride system so each file must go to a pacific location.

Well I'm an idiot, I figured out why nothing was showing up. I had the date set for 2 days from now, and I guess the contest needs to be started for it to show.

I kinda feel like a fool but I cannot correct the Title for my contest. I know this is probabbly day one stuff but Please help. The URL is

It looks like you are missing this file: /includes/languages/english/mostlygrey/contest.php

This file would be in the contest_system zip file here: /includes/languages/english/YOUR_TEMPLATE/contest.php

hi im using the latest version of zen cart (security patch to be installed soon) i have uploaded the files as stated and renamed to match my template folder for the override system and only some of it seems to be orking, i dont seem to have an option in the admin>configuration drop down list, i do however have an option to view all entries in reports, ive checked, double checked and checked again to make sure ive renamed everything, everyone elses seems to be working so seems a little strange? any advice please?

ok all installed no which is great but for some reason when i set up a new contest it keeps saying and when i go to test it keeps saying the contest has ended, ive checked the server time and date and the local time is different because im in the uk (server is usa) but the date itself is correct. i even set the competition running for the whole year to see if it helped, it didnt. one thing i did notice is that on the admin configuration page it shows the details of when the options were last modified, it says :

Date Added: 11/30/2036
Last Modified: 07/03/2009

year 2036? i have checked my server times etc and the date and year is accurate, do you know any other reason why this would be doing this? i changed the end date of the contest to 12/30/2037 just to ee if this made it work and it didnt. any ideas would be much appreciated thankyou :)

All that I get is: CONTEST HAS ENDED
Assuming that the install was done correctly. These are the things you need to check.

Go to Admin->Configuration->Contests

Show contest invitation ...................... true/false
This is the master switch no matter what anything else is set to. If this is set to false you will get CONTEST HAS ENDED on the contest page.

Prize ..................................................... 35
This must be a valid product ID if you enter a invalid product you will get this error on the contest page. ADMIN ERROR: The selected Prize Could Not Be Found.

Contest Start Date ............................... 07/01/2009
Contest Close Date .............................. 07/31/2009
The dates must be entered in this format. And the system date must be => Start Date and <= Close Date. If this fails you will get CONTEST HAS ENDED on the contest page.

Allow guest to enter contest ............... true /false
A guest is someone not logged in. If this fails you will get CONTEST HAS ENDED on the contest page.

Allow customers to enter contest ....... true/false
This is someone logged in. If this fails you will get CONTEST HAS ENDED on the contest page.

**Contest Reference Code ....................... 007 **
You set this value to keep track of you contests. NO action on the contest page from this setting.

Display a qualifying question to enter contest .... true/false
This will display the qualifying question on the contest page.

Contest Question ............................. two+one A=4 B=5 C=3
Contest Answer ............................... C
This is the qualifying question that will be displayed on the contest page. If **Display a qualifying question to enter contest ** is set to true.

Ok I installed this correctly and when I activate the sidebox my whole page goes blank except my banner then when I change it to right side my right side just disappears...what is going on?? what did I do wrong??

Normally with this kind of error there is a space or return after the last php closing statement **?> ** in a file.

The sidebox file is here /includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/sideboxes/tpl_contest_sidebox.php it could just be a bad upload.
