Contest System [support thread]

It looks like there is allot of files for this add on. Will this affect any customizations I have made. I would not even know what files to back up, since there are so many!

Re: Contest System [support thread]

I would recommend to backup the wholesite and the database before you do anything. There are addons available for database backup and files backup. Hope this helps.:D

Re: Contest System [support thread]

Everyone should backup as princenbo suggested above. Any time they are adding / updating there ZC.
Contest mod uses the override system so no files are edited or over written.

Re: Contest System [support thread]

WOW! After waiting awhile for updates to the contest module, due to the first download I was having major issues. Now with me uploading the new update my contest module finally works .

But I do have one issue that looks like it can be fixed very easy just with a little help from the forum:

On my contest page here: http://divaboutiques.com/store/index.php?main_page=contest I am getting funny lettering on contest start & content end spot. How do I correct this issue?

Re: Contest System [support thread]

It seems that you did not run YOUR_ADMIN/install-sql-contest-v1.6.php

Version 1.6 added a new date value.

Look under admin->Configuration->Contest

If you see
Contest Date Display Format F d Y
You did run install-sql-contest-v1.6.php

If you do not see
Contest Date Display Format F d Y
You did NOT run install-sql-contest-v1.6.php

Note: If the date value is not fixed (after running install-sql-contest-v1.6.php) clear the cache of your browser and exit the browser. Then open browser and return back to the page and all should look fine.

Re: Contest System [support thread]

I am using version 1.38a. Upgraded from 1.37. I installed contest system and it seems to be working, but I cannot modify the text on the box(BOX_HEADING_CONTEST_), or the HEADING_TITLE. I am not the greatest at solving problems, but I think I have made a fine site with your software. Excellent job guys. But I cannot change the text. Attached is .jpg of what I am talking about. I'm sure it is something simple, but I'm used to that. Also where it should state to enter your e-mail adress, is says, (FORM_FIELD_ENTRY_EMAIL). Any response would be great, thanks. I have it turned off for now until I can get it working correctly.

Re: Contest System [support thread]

I have removed every file on the list in the readme, and still no luck. I will download unzip, and install again. I followed the instructions perfectly.

Did you re-name all the YOUR_TEMPLATE folders as per the readme??

Re: Contest System [support thread]

At first look you are loading the contest page twice. How this is happening I can't tell.
Do a test. Load the default template for the site and see if this fixes the layout.
Also double check that all the contest files where uploaded to the correct folders.

I why would it run twice, can I change the stylesheet to reduce the size of the table. it may just be encroaching on the sidebars

Re: Contest System [support thread]

You have something not setup properly because if "Contest has Ended" is showing and then below that a contest with the admin error showing, that is not right.

Again I would just say double check the install.

You can adjust the size of the contest content by adding styles for the ID that controls the contest page center content without affecting the other pages of your site, but it's strange that you have to do this at all..

SkipSkip is right.. You do not have something installed right.. Changing the CSS isn't going to fix this.. I suspect that if you double check your install that it will resolve all of the display issues you are having..

This is how your contest page should look if "Contest has Ended" is showing..
