Add to cart not there

Hi,

I've made a store in which i do not wish to display pricing, shipping and payment options. However, nowhere in the products do I see a link where visitors can add the items to a cart.:unsure:
All I see is a 'Contact Us' link. I have 170 products which I wholesale and have distributors w/wide for whom I making this online store. It's therefore not possible for my buyers to "contact me" 170 times just to tell me how much qty of each product they require

How do I add this?

Re: Add to cart not there

Sounds like you set your site to be a Show case ...

Check the Configuration ... My Store ... and see what the status is set to:

Store Status
What is your Store Status
0= Normal Store
1= Showcase no prices
2= Showcase with prices

Re: Add to cart not there

Thanks for this.
I've now set it to 'Normal Store' and now I see a need for clients to have an a/c (which is good), so I set up a new a/c for myself and now instead of the 'Contact Us' link in every product, I see a box which says 'show room only' and still do not see any place to asking for qty &/or add to cart:dontgetit

Re: Add to cart not there

Check the settings in the Configuration ... Customers Detail ...

Customer Shop Status - View Shop and Prices
Customer must be approved to shop
0= Not required
1= Must login to browse
2= May browse but no prices unless logged in
3= Showroom Only

It is recommended that Option 2 be used for the purposes of Spiders if you wish customers to login to see prices.

Re: Add to cart not there

Ok, I've now set the 'Customer shop status - view shop and prices' to 0=Not Required
This is now showing the prices and shipping options, which I do not need.:no:

The idea of this online shop is just so visitors can let my client know which products in particular they're interested in, and in which quantities, and based on that my client would let them know the pricing, shipping, payment issues, etc., by email communication.

Re: Add to cart not there

So the bottom line is ...

you want to not display the prices, shipping or payment and have people add to cart things they want and get a "quote" ... is this correct?

Re: Add to cart not there

Zen Cart is not designed for this ... but it could be customized to work in this fashion ...

Have you an URL to your site that we could perhaps peek at? :smile:

Re: Add to cart not there

You can do some of this with configuring the settings and some of it will need to have custom code written for it ...

But you could make it possible to be an Ask a Quote shop vs a Store or Showcase ...

How good are you at php? :cool:

Re: Add to cart not there

Set all products as Virtual Products and that gets rid of the checkout_shipping page ...

You can try removing the Modules ... Order Totals ...
Shipping ot_shipping
Subtotal ot_subtotal

Do not remove the:
Total ot_total

or things won't work right in the Admin ...

From here ... comes the customization part ... and that is where you want to make a method to:

Skip the checkout_payment

Hide/Mask the Total from showing as $0.00 or change to read something like: Quote Request

Clean up emails or change what they are going to say to the customer ...

And I am sure there are other things but I'd have to start coding for this to see what all is needed ...

Easy Smeazy, eh? :smile:

Re: Add to cart not there

You login to your Zen Cart Admin ...

You go to the menu for Modules ... Order Totals ...

You REMOVE the Shipping and the Subtotal ...

Now you go test making customer account, order, etc. and see what needs more changes ...

Re: Add to cart not there

Yes it will show prices still ...

I am trying to give you some things that will manage "most" of the issues without code changes ...

The things that still have prices then need to be checked for other configuration settings to control the prices or what templates and override changes can be used ...

Then the final part is the custom code for everywhere else ...

Re: Add to cart not there

This is where you need to see what is left to clean up to mask any prices ...

Some things can be turned off and others will have to have some code written to manage it ...

You want your shop to be a quote request store ...

To turn off the shipping, make all products marked as
Product is Virtual YES

now the checkout_shipping page won't show ...

You have no shipping so turn off the Shipping Estimator on the shopping_cart in the Configuration ... Shipping/Packing ...

Shipping Estimator Display Settings for Shopping Cart

0= Off
1= Display as Button on Shopping Cart
2= Display as Listing on Shopping Cart Page

You don't need the total above the Shopping Cart on shopping_cart page so turn it off in the Configuration ... Layout Settings ...

Shopping Cart - Show Totals
Show Totals Above Shopping Cart?
0= off
1= on: Items Weight Amount
2= on: Items Weight Amount, but no weight when 0
3= on: Items Amount

You have numerous Listings ... if you want to use them then customize them not to show things you do not need like Prices and Weights ... these are all configurable in your Zen Cart Admin ...

There is a lot more to do but without going through and customizing everything for you and writing any all of the customized code for you ... it is hard to say off the top of my head what all you will need ...

Re: Add to cart not there

Thanks, now the shipping does not show.

However, I did as you said....

Ajeh:

but I still see prices in the cart.

Also, when checking out, payment information is still there:(

Re: Add to cart not there

Those are areas that will require custom coding to change the display ...

Some can be done in the stylesheet

<td class="cartUnitDisplay">$25.00</td> <td class="cartTotalDisplay">$25.00</td>

Those are the unit price and extended price on the shopping_cart, example:

.cartUnitDisplay, .cartTotalDisplay {
display: none;
}

Or customize your template for that page:
tpl_shopping_cart_default.php

with your templates and overrides ...

You just need to keep going through various parts of the shop to see what can be configured to turn off and what needs to be customized ...
