SitemapXML v.2

It seems the problem is not getting to fix...yet! :frusty:

Enabling "Generate language_id for default language" in certain conditions nothing changes.

If I set false "Generate language_id for default language":

sometimes the tool generates the italian sitemap and sometimes the english sitemap. Never the tool generates the complete ita/eng tree.

Anyone has any little idea to focus on?

Cheers!

Re: SitemapXML v.2

Just installed SitemapXML and the process was pretty painless.

I guess it's not a big deal, but...my categories site map only includes 1 category vs. the 4 categories that exist in my store. Anyone know why? I am using Simple SEO URL as an add-on to the most recent version of ZC and suspect that might have something to do with it. Interestingly, the categories that were excluded only contain one product.

I'm embarrassed to ask, but here goes:

Where would I be able to see my index page within the site map(s)? The sitemapindex.xml file only lists my 3 other site maps. Those site maps are of my EZ pages, products and categories, so where would my home page be listed?

Thanks in advance!

Re: SitemapXML v.2

I just installed on v1.38 but does anyone have any idea why my main sitemap index page, as accesible through http://www.roncopromotions.com/index.php?main_page=sitemapxml, wouldn't list ANY of my 4 other ("real") sitemaps?

Re: SitemapXML v.2

I just upgraded to this version from the Google XML sitemap. Now Google Webmastertools reports that none of the urls submitted in my "new" sitemap are indexed. This concerns me, the urls should be the same as my old ones, and they should already be indexed. Has anyone experienced a similar issue?

Re: SitemapXML v.2

Hi,
I'm running 1.3.8, ez pop, ceon mapping. Store is few months in making and running fine until now. I installed this addon. Configured it. Ran it. Everything went fine. Created sitemaps. Exited, then came back and couldn't login. I receive the following error msg:

0 DB_ERROR_NOT_CONNECTED
in:
[select * from zen_project_version WHERE project_version_key = 'Zen-Cart Database' ]
If you were entering information, press the BACK button in your browser and re-check the information you had entered to be sure you left no blank fields.

Also, the store is acting erratically in that some of the links are fine and some give me the following message:

"Sorry!
There seems to be a problem connecting to our database. Please give us a few minutes to remedy the problem. Thank you."

I scanned the forums, and google. Didn't see specifics on this error other than a suggestion to look at configure.php which I did and it hasn't changed.

Do I need to uninstall this as it somehow affected my database. If so, how, since I don't have access to admin on zencart any more.

Should I restore my backup database?

Any ideas would be much appreciated. Thank you. Essentially down for the count right now.

Re: SitemapXML v.2

Dead store issue resolved, but I still don't know why it happened, but it's outta there for now. Did end up with the first good sitemap when it did work for the first half hour or so. If anyone has any thoughts they would still be welcomed. Thanks.

Re: SitemapXML v.2

You will have to excuse my ignorance but it seems like we jumped from step 2 to 5 in the directions, how do you get it to generate the sight maps? I installed everything and set the cronjob and thought it would run as a routine in the wee hours of the morning. However I checked it today and all the site maps are still empty and zero in size.

any help? I do realize the problem is more then likely me lol

Hi Victor,

Be patient

First off, thank you for making this add-on and for sharing it with all of us.

The above quote is the only response I've found so far to several people who are having the problem of Google not indexing their products. I'm in the same boat, I used this program and submitted my sitemaps to Google and they are not showing errors at all. However, all sitemap*.xml files are indexing except the products one. It is showing 161 URLs submitted and 0 indexed. I have resubmitted them, with no positive results other than again, no errors... but no indexing either. I've waited several days now and it is still not indexing. Anyone have any other ideas besides being patient?

Thanks!

I've been struggling with the same error. The "limit exceeded" error from Yahoo means your sitemap files are too large and you need to turn on the gzip compression.
This was very helpful.. I too was getting the Yahoo 403 Curl errors.. I changed my XML Sitemap settings to compress the sitemaps, and presto.. The Yahoo submission was successful.. Thanks to you and ckosloff for the hints and help on this issue..

Re: SitemapXML v.2

FYI for all who are waiting for Google to index their sitemap, it does take time...I submitted mine a few months ago, and only now is google showing the pages being indexed.

On another note, it is possible to have a manufacturers xml added in to the next update?

Thanks so much for this tool!

Thanks for the input...
Interesting... Google almost immediately showed my other sitemaps as indexed (EZ pages, etc) but the products are still holding at 0. I wonder why some would go through so quickly while others may take months!?

Re: SitemapXML v.2

Hi

Have downloaded and installed this a couple of times after failing to get it to work the first time. Am trying to install on a very old copy of zencart could this be the problem? When i get to click on the here tab to create the sitemap I only get a blank page! What am I doing wrong or should I really upgrade!

Thanks in advance

Re: SitemapXML v.2

Got it all installed and "working" Although I am noticing a few issues and was curious if anyone could shed some light on it. I am currently running Ceon URI Mapping (SEO)

Within the sitemaps that it pulls it shows links like:

http://xoskins.com/digital-cameras/nikon/nikon-coolpix-s60-xo-skin?&language=en

Yet when I click on the link it shows:

http://xoskins.com/digital-cameras/nikon/nikon-coolpix-s60-xo-skin

Do the links read as something different on the backend? This is hurting my indexing with google. Anyone else run into this?

B. This has NOTHING to do with Ceon URI Mapping. Ceon URI Mapping as it's written is unlikely to cause issues with other add-ons.. I believe that if you change the XML sitemap setting for "**Generate language_id for default language**" to false this should solve this for you.

Thanks for the tip. I changed it to false, but it is still doing it.

Re: SitemapXML v.2

FAAAAb mod, thanx!! 2 questions:

  1. 2 language site, the products map is generating everything twice, once in ea. language. Am I not better off with just the default lang. so I won't be seen as putting dup. content? (OK the text descriptions are all diff. but the product numbers are repeated...) Also, Google is only indexing about half the product urls... do I ever rate the whole thing?

and

  1. Generate language_id for default language is set to true, and I don't know what that does.... explanation?
example url in products index: http://weissewolke.com/index.php?main_page=product_music_info&products_id=334&language=en

thanks!

Re: SitemapXML v.2

I read back a few pages and didn't see this. Pardon me if I missed it. If you have a Windows Live account and use the Live Webmaster Tools, You can ping bing directly by adding the following on the configuration page after the Moreover entry.

Bing => http://www.bing.com/webmaster/ping.aspx?siteMap=%s

Google => http://www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps/ping?sitemap=%s; Yahoo! => http://search.yahooapis.com/SiteExplorerService/V1/ping?sitemap=%s; Ask.com => http://submissions.ask.com/ping?sitemap=%s; Microsoft => http://www.moreover.com/ping?u=%s; Bing => http://www.bing.com/webmaster/ping.aspx?siteMap=%s
