SitemapXML v.2

Those who can not understand himself and make himself or should learn or pay someone to work. For example, you can make a contribution to the development of Zen-Cart and pay someone to write the instructions for dummies. I do not owe you.

Re: SitemapXML v.2

Hi,

I currently have a ZC139h site with this awesome sitemapXML v2.1.0 mod installed on it.

I just did a ton of major upgrades on it and I am going to wait a while before the next ZC version gets out of beta.

That said, I am wanting to be as current as possible... especially with my most important mods. Obviously sitemap is critical, so I want the newest version.

I see that the latest version is v3.0.3, but that is for the ZC 1.5beta, correct? And I cannot use it on 139h?

Can someone tell me what the last/latest version that was compatible with 139?

Thanks a lot,
Mike

Re: SitemapXML v.2

Actually, since the currently installed sitemapxml appears to be working for me, maybe somebody can tell me what the latest Ping URLs are?

Here is what I currently have:

Google => http://www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps/ping?sitemap=%s; Yahoo! => http://search.yahooapis.com/SiteExplorerService/V1/ping?sitemap=%s; Ask.com => http://submissions.ask.com/ping?sitemap=%s; Microsoft => http://www.moreover.com/ping?u=%s; Bing => http://www.bing.com/webmaster/ping.aspx?siteMap=%s

Ping Google results: GOOD!
Ping Yahoo! results: cURL Error: Error http_code "403"
Ping Ask.com results: GOOD!
Ping Microsoft results: cURL Error: Error http_code "404"
Ping Bing results: GOOD!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Mike

The fact of the matter is that store owners who decide to build their own websites are doubling indeed as web designers. Store owners who decide to become do it yourself site builders must be prepared to roll up their sleeves and learn all they need to know if they want to take on the role of building their own website. The alternative is to pay someone with web designer skills to do the work.. It's just that simple..

This support thread is 30 pages long because not everyone understands the instructions and may need additional help.. Doesn't mean the mod is hard to install at all..

Re: SitemapXML v.2

I have noticed the following "Sitemap Index" problem, on a fresh install.

URL - (mysite)/sitemapindex.xml
Written 0 items (525 bytes), Filesize: 525 bytes

Total: Execution Time 0:1.2210, DB Queries 355, DB Queries Time 0.594.

Everything else updates, but you would think the main index page would update right?

I have Sitemap XML - v 3.0.3 27.08.2011 13:11
ZenCart - v1.3.9h

Re: SitemapXML v.2

I have installed the latest module on my 1.5.0RC1 site. When I try to create/update, I keep getting "Page Not Found" error. How can I fix this problem? I have already checked all the files are uploaded correctly.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Re: SitemapXML v.2

Well, I got tired of downloading sitemap programs that looped, online services that truncate at 500 URLs, and zencart modules that freak out on wrong version numbers.

SO. here's my final solution, make your own quick and easy.

STEP 1: Export your zen_to_products table to a file that you open in excel. You get two columns, first is product ID, 2nd is category: PhPAdmin select table, select export type, select your format, GO

STEP 2: Then put this excel statement in column D and propagate it over all rows:

=CONCATENATE("<url><loc>http://your site name here.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=",B1,"&products_id=",A1,"</loc><lastmod>2011-11-10</lastmod><changefreq>weekly</changefreq><priority>0.5</priority></url>")

This will create a complete URL entry for every product in your store. be sure to replace "your site name here" with your site name. Change the date, priority, and frequency if you know what they do and they mean something to you

STEP 3 Copy that column

STEP 4 Paste into notepad

STEP 5 insert this header at the very top

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="no"?> <urlset xmlns="http://www.sitemaps.org/schemas/sitemap/0.9">

STEP 6 insert this footer at the very bottom

</urlset>

You now have a complete store site map.

Enjoy.

I got dragged over the coals a few weeks back when I made a cutting comment about the "flippant" response I got from Mr Berezin to a similar query with sitemapxml (which I still cannot get to work properly after numerous deletes and re-upload/re-installs) and here is the developer with his latest "assistance" .... "I have no idea" - I think I will use your system Glennfish :smile: Thanks for your post, good stuff.

I have no doubt Mt Berezin's module works, a number of experienced developers in here have said as much - (I have it partially working but cannot get sitemapindex.xml to work so use robots.txt to tell googlebot to use the other individual sitemaps which I suppose does the same thing except it relies on manual updates) - however the problem is that the installation and configuring lacks detailed explanation and is prone to installation / configuration errors by the uninitiated, and of course we mere mortals lack the intelligence to be able to comprehend practical advice and help, well I think that is the case but haven't had the opportunity to assess that last bit because the developer offers comments like that above or "pay me and I'll fix the module on your site".

I think I will use your system Glennfish :smile: Thanks for your post, good stuff.

*** re-posted because I exceeded the 7 minutes edit time allowed - sorry, slow typer (or am I just slow, without qualification?? ) :laugh:

tis a pity - I get so much great assistance and encouragement in other threads in here

I tested only in 1.5.0 Beta. I will check in 1.5.0RC2 and report the results.

You're blatantly lying - never offered to pay me. I have no business with such people. Not for money, not for free.

Your reply to my query 15 September 2011 - I never offered to pay you - the response indicates that fixing installation problems can be done via a commercial help wanted forum. That post was extremely helpful to me, a user of your mod that had issues, very helpful indeed.
