Another 2006 MySQL server has gone away issue

Everytime I try to go into admin area, this same message will appear :

WARNING: The Admin Activity Log table has records over 2 months old and should be cleaned ... 04-01-2009 2006 MySQL server has gone away
in:
[select * from coupon_gv_queue where release_flag='N']
If you were entering information, press the BACK button in your browser and re-check the information you had entered to be sure you left no blank fields.

2006 MySQL server has gone away
in:
[select count(*) as total from sessions where sesskey = 'dc397e233f26bb9f6f496b2d33fe162e']
If you were entering information, press the BACK button in your browser and re-check the information you had entered to be sure you left no blank fields.Its been a while since I last logged into the admin area. It just suddenly happened. I did not do any change or upgrades as far as I can remember. The site in public mode works just fine (browsing, putting orders etc.)

Re: Another 2006 MySQL server has gone away issue

There are two options:

 • there are too many rows in those tables (common for sessions table, uncommon for coupon_gv_queuetable)
 • table structure is damaged (common error for all tables)

Log in to phpmyadmin or similar tool and execute:

TRUNCATE table sessions;
REPAIR TABLE sessions;
REPAIR TABLE coupon_gv_queuetable;

Should work. If it won't help execute also:

SELECT count(*) FROM coupon_gv_queuetable;

And write here how many rows this table has. You can also execute

SHOW CREATE TABLE coupon_gv_queuetable;

and copy it here.

If it does help consider switching to innodb tables (especially in case of sessions table).

Re: Another 2006 MySQL server has gone away issue

OK I got it executed successfully but it did not help to solve the problem. I still get the same message when trying to login.

BTW, this is what it shows when executing the SHOW CREATE TABLE command

coupon_gv_queue CREATE TABLE coupon_gv_queue (
unique_id int...

Re: Another 2006 MySQL server has gone away issue

There should be more output from SHOW CREATE TABLE. I'm mostly looking for character encoding, some versions of mysql does not support RLIKE against columns with ucs2 (AFAIR) character set.

Well, that's the one I got from my phpadmin though. Not sure if I got it wrong.

Re: Another 2006 MySQL server has gone away issue

I can get to your shop ...

I can get to the login page for your Zen Cart admin ...

What is it that you cannot get to?

When you say you cannot get to the admin CP do you mean the Zen Cart Admin? Or do you mean your domain control panel?

If you mean the Zen Cart Admin, do you get the login screen?

You need more details ... in one section it sounds like a problem with your Control Panel from your hosting provider (in which case you need to speak to them) and in another that you are having issues with your Zen Cart Admin ...

Type slowly now, I do not read fast ... :cool:

Re: Another 2006 MySQL server has gone away issue

Hi Linda,

Yes, I cannot log into my Zen Cart Admin. I can see the login screen, but whenever trying to login with my username and password, I will get the message like what I mentioned in my first post of this thread.

Help...!

Re: Another 2006 MySQL server has gone away issue

Hi! Same problem over here - nothing helped.... provider says that i have to close my opened sessions but i didn`t change anything in zen-cart - first it worked nicesly and from one day to another stoped working - backend is not really accessible anymore.
Maybe i try this same shop on my local server and maybe there is something wrong with my zencart?
hmmm - i'll let you know when I find something out...

Re: Another 2006 MySQL server has gone away issue

i figured it out -
the problem was (in my case) in the /includes/version.php
i changed

define('NEW_VERSION_CHECKUP_URL','http://demo.zen-cart.at/version_id.txt');

to

define('NEW_VERSION_CHECKUP_URL','');

and now it's working flawlessly again!:clap:

Re: Another 2006 MySQL server has gone away issue

You are apparently using a non-official (perhaps even experimental) version of Zen Cart which is produced and supported by zen-cart.at and it appears that their servers are not operating properly. You should be reporting your problems to them specifically.

You can disable version-checking via Admin->Configuration->My Store->Show Version Alerts

IT IS STRONGLY ADVISED TO NEVER TOUCH THE version.php FILE CONTENTS WITH MANUAL EDITS !!!!!!!

well - I don`t think so - i downloaded the german version of zen-cart from sourcefourge - what is the problem with this edit of the version.php? i found this solution in the zen-cart.at forum so this seems to be alright, anyway it's working now ....

should i use this line from my english version of another zen-cart instead?

define('NEW_VERSION_CHECKUP_URL','http://ping.zen-cart.com/version_id.txt');

anyway - the version alerts from Admin->Configuration->My Store->Show Version Alerts was already turned off - so this could not have solved the problem.
cheers!

http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=108670

Hey Linda,

I contacted my provider and they said they found no error on the SQL. They previously accessed my database to do the checking.

This is what they said in their email :

Hi,
I run the following 2 query at the phpmyadmin, no error prompt out:

select count(*) as total from sessions where sesskey ='023ce0715de2266760a1453a4bc57d04'

select * from coupon_gv_queue where release_flag='N'

You may need to check your side

FYI, for the sake of testing, I installed a fresh copy of ZC into another folder of the same server (new database too). Installed successfully but when trying to enter into the backend (ZC Admin) I still got the error! HELP!

Re: Another 2006 MySQL server has gone away issue

Try the patch I posted here: http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=135757

It's ONLY a bandage until you can fix whatever problem is causing your external system communications to break.

Since you said your issue happens specifically when logging into your admin area, have you tried this: https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?article=81
