Shipping module for drop-shipping

ambrooks,

that makes a lot of sense :) It stinks, but makes sense nonetheless. You are correct that the shipping is calculated solely on the product weight (and dimensions if available). I'm not sure if giving the attribute a weight value will solve this problem? You might give that a shot.

As far as differing prices go, I haven't been able to duplicate what you are describing but I'm not giving up yet. Can you give me the weights and origins for products a, b, & c that you were testing with, along with the zip code they are all shipping to ? Just curious to see if I get the same results that you're seeing.

Re: Shipping module for drop-shipping

can you post the URL, or PM me the URL? I'm also curious when you go to estimate shipping, at the top of the window, is it displaying the KG or LB? I just noticed on one of the sites I don't have ASA installed it is showing KG for shipping calculations even though every place possible I have specified lbs...

Re: Shipping module for drop-shipping

I spoke too soon...

in /includes/extra_configures/shipping_units.php

Everything was set as metric. This isn't an organic file, it's installed by Numinix's FEDEX module, so you might check that out as metric units are the default... If this is the same for you, that's the reason for the difference from fedex.com website to your quote..

It looks like the reason for the extra $7.XX is due to the fact that the sum of the packages is not being calculated correctly. Right now it is adding the weight of item B, C, & D, etc. to item A, instead of calculating as another package. I thought I fixed this but apparently I didn't. Numinix just released an update earlier this month for multiple packages, I will merge the my mod with his and see if this fixes the problem or not otherwise it will take me a day or two to get the time to sit down and find out where I messed up.

Re: Shipping module for drop-shipping

When you're in your shopping cart what does it say for weight? If nothing, change setting for your shipping display in config -> shipping and packaging, set to 3. This way we can see what is actually being passed

Re: Shipping module for drop-shipping

There goes that theory... That's the only thing that was wrong in the mod files, the KG setting.. (aside from the calculations for individual packages).

I have everything working flawlessly on my end now with one exception. The packages add correctly now but not for like items. Meaning if you have two of "Product A" in your table, it should be 7.89 * 2, but it's not. It's for the same reason you found that error before... because it's pulling the TOTAL weight for that item string and making it one package. I will have to separate qty out for the string in the loop later, but have to get to work. But for now, multiple different items, are calculating correctly.

I've uploaded the changed fileset to link in my signature. Your hack has been implemented, as have a couple of bug fixes. Overwrite all files in the include directory and see if you have any luck now.. If it doesn't do the trick than I am at a loss. I tested with your exact figures in the table you posted, and everything matched perfectly. Let me know how it goes.

Re: Shipping module for drop-shipping

Can I use this module with UPS and USPS? I have one supplier who will only drop ship using UPS. All others and the stuff from my sytore can go UPS or USPS.... I need a way to set the ctategories that will only dropship using UPS to offer only that option.

Will this mod do that?

Re: Shipping module for drop-shipping

Sorry for the delayed reply.

Unfortunately right now this module is only for use with the FedEx shipping module, not USPS or UPS. As it apparently seems there is not much interest in this module, I have delayed working on a UPS module for now.

Re: Shipping module for drop-shipping

That is a shame as I have seen posts in other parts of the forum that go back over a year looking for this type of module. Maybe folks just don't know where to find it. If you do a UPS/USPS one please let me know. I'm continuing to lose sales because folks go in and the UPS shipping cost is way too high compared to what they could get in USPS. I'm a VERY small business (as in just me) so losing these over miscalculated shipping hers.

Bob,

Usually, the published rates of UPS and Fedex are very expensive. But if you go through any shipping club, you will get about 40% off. There will be a small membership fee. but you will make it up in no time.

Re: Shipping module for drop-shipping

I was wondering, if this module will handle different manufacturers with different types of shipping. I have one manufacturer that ships only USPS Priority Mail and charges 1 flat rate; another manufacturer ships only UPS; a third that ships FedEX; and another that ships any method. Will this mod handle this? If not any idea?

Re: Shipping module for drop-shipping

Sorry, at this time the mod is only supported with FedEx. A ups module will be available shortly.

Re: Shipping module for drop-shipping

thanks. I think it's a great module. ultimately it would be nice to vary the shipping by manufacture but i'm contemplating a way to offer free shipping and build the cost into the product.

Re: Shipping module for drop-shipping

I have set up a fedex accnt. and installed the fedex module and it installed fine but I am having trouble installing the drop ship module...keep getting error msg. Followed instructions: Copy below and paste into sql patch update tool in ZC

ALTER TABLE `zen_products` ADD `products_origin_addr1` VARCHAR( 64 ) CHARACTER SET latin1 COLLATE latin1_swedish_ci NOT NULL ,

ADD products_origin_zip VARCHAR( 5 ) CHARACTER SET latin1 COLLATE latin1_swedish_ci NOT NULL ,
ADD products_origin_city VARCHAR( 20 ) CHARACTER SET latin1 COLLATE latin1_swedish_ci NOT NULL ,
ADD products_origin_state VARCHAR( 2 ) CHARACTER SET latin1 COLLATE latin1_swedish_ci NOT NULL ;

but I get the error: #1146 - Table 'rangefir_zc01.zen_products' doesn't exist .

I am new to zen cart and need to have drop ship module like this. if I could get some help installing the module I would greatly appreciate it. Hey I would even pay for phone support if available. thanks. I hope to get this module working ,it sounds perfect for me.
