Shipping module for drop-shipping

Didge, it looks to me that your zen-cart db doesn't have the 'zen_' prefix on your table. That's ok. Try using this sql code instead.

ALTER TABLE products ADD products_origin_addr1 VARCHAR( 64 ) CHARACTER SET latin1 COLLATE latin1_swedish_ci NOT NULL ,
ADD products_origin_zip VARCHAR( 5 ) CHARACTER SET latin1 COLLATE latin1_swedish_ci NOT NULL ,
ADD products_origin_city VARCHAR( 20 ) CHARACTER SET latin1 COLLATE latin1_swedish_ci NOT NULL ,
ADD products_origin_state VARCHAR( 2 ) CHARACTER SET latin1 COLLATE latin1_swedish_ci NOT NULL ;

Re: Shipping module for drop-shipping

Have you looked at MVS from oscommerce? Maybe someone can do that to zen cart?

I need ups unfortunately.

After adding the original code to the sql update, I have a similar problem but it's like it's trying to add an extra Zen_ to it. How do I fix this?

Re: Shipping module for drop-shipping

@DW,

I apologize for the delay in getting back to you, for some reason I didn't get the notification a message was posted on this thread. Anyhow, I'm afraid I'm not sure what's going on here. Can you please advise what your "products" table is named in your database?

If it is zen_products (default install), the query should be as it reads in the install file.
ALTER TABLE zen_products ADD products_origin_addr1 VARCHAR( 64 ) CHARACTER SET latin1 COLLATE latin1_swedish_ci NOT NULL ,
ADD products_origin_zip VARCHAR( 5 ) CHARACTER SET latin1 COLLATE latin1_swedish_ci NOT NULL ,
ADD products_origin_city VARCHAR( 20 ) CHARACTER SET latin1 COLLATE latin1_swedish_ci NOT NULL ,
ADD products_origin_state VARCHAR( 2 ) CHARACTER SET latin1 COLLATE latin1_swedish_ci NOT NULL ;

If you are having further troubles I suggest changing ALTER TABLE zen_products to ALTER TABLE products like didge had to in the post before yours.

Let me know if that does the trick.

Re: Shipping module for drop-shipping

As this will require you to have essentially a different "ship from" address for every single product, you will also need to enter that data within the new fields that will show in the ZC Admin "new product / edit product" page. You may also (and I recommend) enter the data using easy populate. This should be fairly painless as you can run a quick query to set all products from a particular manufacturer to have the same address (because most mfr's have only one shipping origin), nonetheless, you can enter different addresses for each and every product as you wish.
http://www.zen-cart.com/index.php?main_page=product_contrib_info&products_id=1438

Could you explain exactly how this is done? I've got Easy Populate installed, I've got the origin drop shipping module installed. The updated fields are showing up in my products table when I look at it in php admin, but the fields are not showing up when I download the "full set" from Easy Populate. How do I get these fields to show up so that I CAN add information to them? I cannot for the life of me find any instructions for this. Or basically any instructions that make any sense to me. I'm a Zen Cart rookie and am FAR from being any sort of programmer. I'm also beyond frustrated! :frusty: HELP!

I'm sorry you're having trouble. It sounds like you have not installed the ez populate module files that I packaged with this module. If you do, when you download the "complete" products file from your ez-populate admin, it will now have 4 additional fields, product_orig_addr,*city,*state,*zip. Enter the desired data in those fields, upload through easy populate, and voila!

Let me know if you are still having trouble. If you are, please post copy of your easypopulate.php file here

Hi litepockets, thanks for helping me. This is the sit as it stands right now, I've triple checked that all files are in their appropriate directories. With the exception of the the install_sql file. I didn't see any instructions on what to do with that. I have attached my easypopulate.php file out of the admin area (was unable to post due to too many charactors). I'm assuming that is the one you need to look at because there are 3? going to different directories.

I have also attached a copy of the excel file that I imported the .txt file from easypopulate admin into.

Where have I gone off into left field?

Thanks!

Re: Shipping module for drop-shipping

DW,

The easypopulate.php file did not come through. That said, the file is not located in admin folder, but in the stores root directory (mystore.com/). I'll send you a PM with my email address for you to send your easypopulate.php and the generated spread sheet it generated.

As for the .sql file, you need to open this document, copy the text, go into your admin > tools > install sql patches, now paste the contents of the .sql file into the textbox and execute the query. Without doing this, the database table will not have the addr1, city, st, or zip fields for easypop, admin, (or anything else for that matter) to access it and give the ship rates.

Re: Shipping module for drop-shipping

I was just wondering if there is a way to modify this module and the fedex module so that we can use UPS? Our drop-shipper is using UPS, and that is what we use, too. But this is exactly what we need! Or is there maybe a mod like this already made for UPS?

Thanks!

UPS module has not been released yet. Hopefully I will have time to test and release soon.

COOL!!!:cool:
Let me know if you want someone to help with the testing or whatever! I'd be glad to help out if I can, because this is exactly what we need for our drop-ship program!

Re: Shipping module for drop-shipping

I'm a beginner, just learning my way round Zen-Cart. I'm going to be drop-shipping goods from my store, so I was very pleased to spot this module.

After reading through the thread, though, I'm left with a question. I'm in the UK and will not be using any of the American shipping companies. Will this module help me?

If so, how do I set it up?

Thanks in advance,

Dave Smith

Re: Shipping module for drop-shipping

I'm looking forward to your mod using UPS as the shipper, as well, Lightpockets. I currently can't use a second drop shipper only because they use a different method of calculating shipping than the drop shipper I currently use now. It sounds like your (UPS) mod may be my answer. Keep up the good work as your efforts are appreciated!

Re: Shipping module for drop-shipping

Sadly, it's kind of fallen off my radar for a bit. I was in a pretty bad car accident recently which has prevented me from doin' much work outside of site development for personal and client sites. I will get to UPS someday though. It's also worth noting, that I am only a "partial" author of this contribution, it says this in the documentation as well. Others I have the pleasure of working with haven't been readily available recently either.

I will keep ya'll posted though.

I'll gladly donate $100 to the dev team of the UPS drop shipper mod once it is completed.

Re: Shipping module for drop-shipping

Hello

Tripped upon this module quit by accident today while scanning the day's posts. I would definitely use this module when it is complete. My problem right now is I use 3 dropshippers, and each uses a different shipping method - UPS, Fedex, and Priority Mail.

Experience has shown me that Priority Mail rates are significantly lower than UPS when the product weight is 2 lbs or less, so I see a definite need for all three shipping options. And outside the US, there are other shippers, so maybe it needs the flexibility to insert your own rate tables. have not looked at the code of the current contribution, so apologize if this flexibility already exists.
