Free shipping - please help

There seems to be problem with my shipping rates. Any product with free shipping only allows a store pickup (walk in) service. This is not the case I will post to the customer, in fact, I would like to totally remove the local pick up option.

I have tried two options:

Firstly, I set up the product to be "always free shipping"

Secondly, I changed all products to normal shipping and I set the weight to 0. In the "configuration>Shipping/Packaging" tab I then set "Order Free Shipping 0 Weight Status" to 1.

Both methods returned a free but "store pickup" only, and no other option.

Please help. All I want to do is offer free shipping to UK customers and remove any other options. :frusty:

The two products can be found here.

The product with free shipping option is the Animal Friends sticker

The product with zero weight is Rocket and Spaceship sticker

On a separate not how do I change the base weight metric to KG rather than lbs?

Many thanks.

Re: Free shipping - please help

Just an update:
I have found the option to remove store pick up.

However, removing this have left zero shipping options.

Re: Free shipping - please help

Ok, another update.

I've found a work around.

in admin>modules>zone rates

I set all weights to GB to be 0.00 i.e. 50:0.00

I've set 0 weight packaging etc.

This has worked!!! :shocking:

Also, I've added new zones, so that should I receive any orders from other countries they'd incure a surcharge, which I've called handling. Is there another way to include a surcharge on top of the cost per weight? I don't like the idea of charging customers a massive handling fee!

Anyways, if anyone else have similar problems I hope this helps!! :bigups:

Re: Free shipping - please help

If you turn on the FREE SHIPPING! freeshipper shipping module this wil now show that shipping module when the order is Free Shipping based on 0 weight or Always Free Shipping ...

All other shipping modules, except Store Pickup storepickup (if installed) will be disabled ...

Thanks for getting back to me.

I've tested your instructions on one item.
**
First, I set the weight to 0 and checked the Yes, Always Free shipping.. It returns this:

"Sorry, we are not shipping to your region at this time."

The postage estimater returned:
Warning: Attempt to assign property of non-object in ***includes/modules/shipping_estimator.php on line 117

Warning: Attempt to assign property of non-object in *includes/modules/shipping_estimator.php on line 124

Second, I set the weight to 0.25 and checked the Yes, Always Free shipping.. it returned this:

"Sorry, we are not shipping to your region at this time."

Note: the weight of product remained 0. Is this because I set it to always free shipping?

**
Third, I set the wieght to 0 and checked No, normal shipping rules.. it returned this:

"Sorry, we are not shipping to your region at this time."

Surely, it should have worked correctly?**

Fourth, I set the weight to 0.25 and checked No, normal shipping rules.. everything worked fine.

I would settle with the fourth method. However, a problem would arise when I want to add shipping fees on some items and not on others.

What are your thoughts?

Could you go to the Zen Cart Admin in the Modules ... Shipping ... and see if you have the FREE SHIPPING! freeshipper installed and make sure you do not have a Zone set on it?

The Zone was set to United Kingdom. I have now changed this to NONE.

I'm not sure about this one. Would I need to include US in the ZONES module?

Re: Free shipping - please help

I am not sure what you have but it looks like you turned off the State field ...

Do you take payments from everywhere and ship to everywhere?

If so, then you want to have a State field for those addresses that use it ...

You might lokk in the Configuration ... Customer Details ... and see if you have the State turned off:

State
Display state field during account creation and with account information

true
false

You are right, it was switched off. I've switched it on again and allowed a drop down list :D

I turned off the zone in the free shipping module and it resolved the free shipping issue. However, I only want to offer free shipping for UK customers. I tested it with a Euro account and it appears to have applied the free shipping globally.

Re: Free shipping - please help

I've sorted it out... I think! :lookaroun

I've disabled the FREE SHIPPING! module.

Switched on the Free shipping option module > setting every thing to 0 and the zone as UK.

I've tested it on both EU and UK addresses and works perfectly. However, that still leaves me with one problem... non free shipping items to UK.

Re: Free shipping - please help

This is where you run into a problem ...

Always Free Shipping means that "everyone" gets Free Shipping on a product ...

0 weight means Free Shipping when 0 weight means Free Shipping is configured in the Shipping/Packaging settings ...

What you are wanting is Free Shipping for UK people, but only on "some" items ...

So you need a method to offer Free Shipping "only" to the UK, but only on "some" items ...

What shipping module(s) are you using?

NOTE: this may be awhile before I can contemplate a solution depending on how much I have to think on this as I don't know your shipping modules yet and am running out to dinner tonight and have to get ready soon ...

Zone to "none"

Zones

Please give it some thought after desert, no rush

Re: Free shipping - please help

Just a note while I am thinking how I setup a site one time to work around this issue ...

You have a lot of shipping modules with yellow dots but appear to not be using them ...

Since you are not using them, you should click on each shipping module you are NOT using and click the REMOVE button so that they are not installed ...

Re: Free shipping - please help

Just to be sure on the clarification of the shipping needs:

Products marked **Always Free Shipping **- Just for the UK

Zone Shipping using:
Zones for UK

Zones for US

Zones for Euro Counties

Questions currently are:
Does this mean anyone not in UK or the US or one of the defined Euro countries cannot be shipped to?

Are any of your Products suppose to be Free Shipping to "everyone"? Or is the Free Shipping just an option "only" given to the UK shipping based on Always Free Shipping?

Yes, shipping is only available to those countries specified in the mentioned zones.

Yes, it should only be available for UK based customers on items I've selected for Free shipping.

Ajeh:

Since you are not using them, you should click on each shipping module you are NOT using and click the REMOVE button so that they are not installed ...

All removed.

Re: Free shipping - please help

I really am not trying to torture you here ... but I am a bit confused on your Zone Rate settings ...

You are using:

Zones
GB
50:0.00

Euro countries
0:0.00,0.19:1.95,0.3:2.45,0.5:3.95 etc..

US
0:0.00,0.19:1.95,0.3:2.45,0.5:3.95 etc..

Are those all settings based on Price?

Can you post the full Zone settings that you have for these 3 zones?
