Free Shipping

Good morning Linda...
Hopefully I can clarify better!

I have 9 categories total.

In those nine are 3 (heavy weight categories which are made of wood) and 6 (light weight categories made of vinyl)

All categories are using a zonetable and using weight to manipulate things.

I would like to change the 6 light categories. Right now I have manipulated the light products to look like I the charge a fixed amount of 10.00 for one or for many shipped as they can go in one box. (It's vinyl lettering) BUT....** I would like to give free shipping with these 6 light categories when they reach $75.00**

Would it be easier if I put the Canada Post module on? Just asking...

Re: Free Shipping

The shipping for Free over $75.00 can be managed but the problem is what to do when 1 or more Products from a Heavy Category is in the cart ...

When 1 Heavy Product is in the cart, how do you charge for shipping?

When 3 or more Heavy Products are in the cart, how do you charge for shipping?

Now you get a mixed cart of light and heavy products ...

Is the $75.00 for Free Shipping based on Total Order, regardless of Products ... meaning to "qualify" for Free Shipping ... the total must be over $75.00?

Then, if you still need to charge for the Heavy Products, even if the Light Weight Products are not getting charged for ... how is this done?

Example, Light Weight Products are $10.00 regardless of 1 to 100 Products ... but when over $75.00 the shipping is free ...

Now, add a Heavy Product ... if this is $15.00 because a Heavy Product is in the cart is it $15 for 1 to many or $15 per Heavy Product quantity?

If it were $15 per Heavy Product Quantity ... this could be calculated separately and added to the shipping of the Light Products and even be added to the Free shipping because the "whole" order is over $75 ...

But this is where you have to determine the qualifier for the Free Shipping over $75 ... is the $75 based on the total order amount or the amount of only the Light Products?

Re: Free Shipping

Let me give you an example of the heavy family wood signs which measure 8.5x1x30 inches:
I buy one which costs 30.00 (weighs 6 lbs) I charge $15.00 to US east (calculated in the table)
If I buy two the cost is 60.00 (weights 12 lbs) I charge 20.00 to US
east (also calculated in the table)

I also have smaller wood signs which measure 3.5x1x24 inches
I buy one $22.00 (weighs under 2lb) I charge $8.00 to Us
etc. etc.
I can actually ship the lighter of the boards with the vinyl quote (light weight) but I have no clue how to get that to work:(

Basically, I've never had someone order the heavy and the light together. No good business prep I know...but I just can't figure it out.

No I would lose money if I gave free shipping over $75.00 for the whole shop. That would be easy to configure I have figured out, it's the eliminating of the heavy family signs out of the equation that I can't figure out.

I basically need to make the heavy signs "special" and they would use the table. The rest would use the flat rate. It's with the flat rate that I want to have free shipping at $75.00

Re: Free Shipping

If the weight shipping you are using for everything works ... and the only issue is how to give the Free shipping on orders over $75.00 but not when a Heavy Product is in the cart ...

You need to just decide if you "do not give free shipping" on orders over $75.00 when 1 or more Heavy Products are in the cart ...

Is that all inclusive?

If so, you can test the cart, based on master_categories_id if 1 or more heavy products are in the cart ...

This could be done by getting the Free Shipping Options to work on Total >= 75.00 ... then customizing that so it does not work if 1 or more Heavy Products is in the cart ...

Then, the shipping module you are using for shipping now, that works with light or heavy products would get customized to not work when no heavy products are in the cart and the order is over $75.00 ...

So ... if we throw out the Free Shipping for a minute ... does the shipping module you are using now manage all Products in your store properly regardless of Light or Heavy?

Re: Free Shipping

the weight shipping works very well when only the light product is bought or when the heavy product is bought....but not when they are together. They need to be shipped in two different boxes.

Re: Free Shipping

Would it work right when both were in the order if there was a handling charge added because there is a Heavy Product in the cart based on either Handling Fee or Handling Fee * quantity of Heavy Products ...

Re: Free Shipping

When I think of it...the handling charge would work if it was the same for everywhere, but I have different zones.

I tried what you said here:

quote:
Would it work if you could setup for Total >= 75.00 and weight <= XX or do you need to make sure specific Products are not part of the weight that makes up the XX ...

I downloaded Rules, which is supposed to work when you have "2" clicked, such as >--$75.00 and <--2 (lb) clicked but it didn't do anything different than the other one that came with zencart (free shipping options)

Is this solvable or am I just getting :frusty: for nothing?

Re: Free Shipping

Look at post #13 and how you can customize the Free Shipping Options freeoptions shipping module to be based on BOTH conditions rather than EITHER condition being true ...

Which shipping module are you using for the shipping right now? If an add on ... it would help to have the link to the specific add on that you are using ...

Re: Free Shipping

I'm using only the store pick up and zonetable.

I wasn't sure you wanted me to make those changes yet. I'll do them right now and try it out.

I'll let you know.

I've tried many things trying to get it to work though.

Re: Free Shipping

changing it from or to and doesn't seem to do anything.

I'm thinking I'm going to have to make the heavy ones a "call for a price". Is there a way that I can change the wording of "product is call for a a price" to email me for a price with shipping to your area?

Is there a way that they can click all the choices and have the info
mailed without being sent to check out.
After that I can email them
with a price with the shipping???

Call for Price is on a per Product basis where it changes the Add to Cart/Buy Now to a link that takes them to the Contact Us ...

I am not quite following what you mean by the Free Shipping Options is not working when the Total is >= 75.00 and Weight is <= 2 ...

If you changed the OR to AND in that line, then you should see this shipping module when have a cart with those conditions ...

Are you not seeing the Free Shipping Option freeoptions shipping module?

Or, do you have something setup in the Modules ... Order Total ... Shipping ot_shipping that is set for Free Shipping on Orders over 75.00 that is interfering?

Also ... make sure on your shipping modules that if you have a Sort Order on 1 of the shipping modules that you have a Sort Order on ALL installed shipping modules that are unique ...

Rule of thumb, either all are 0 or all are numbered uniquely excluding 0 as a Sort Order ... I like to number by 10s of easy of moving things around etc.

Re: Free Shipping

Ive changed the sort order. It makes no difference.

I'm sorry I don't understand what you mean by "start turning on the Modules...they are already on and haven't changed since I started my website (except for the change that you asked me to make). It has never worked right...which is why I'm here.
**Let's forget that I want the $75.00 free ship. I will work on that later.
**
What I do right now is charge $10.00 flat for the light products no matter what number.

I charge the wood signs by weight. And I use the zonetable for that.

That's the problem...if they want both in the same cart...I'm messed up.

Re: Free Shipping

What I said was Start with ... meaning ... First ... go to the Modules ... Order Totals ... and turn on Shipping ot_shipping ... you indicated you do not have this installed ...

You posted 3 shipping modules ... but then say you charge a Flat Rate $10.00 for the light weight products ...

How are you currently charging this $10.00 Flat Rate if you having nothing installed for it?

Is the ZoneTable, for example:

Shipping Zone 1
Canada Central

Zone 1 Shipping Table
.2:5.00,.4:5.00,.6:5.00,.8:5.00,1:5.00,1.2:5.00,1.4:5.00,3:12.00,6:14.00,9:15.00 ,12:16.00, 18:19.00

Zone 1 Handling Fee
5.00

to handle the Heavy Weight or the Light Weight Products?
