Ok, I guess it is my turn to start a new "Free Shipping" subthread. :)
I am experiencing some strange behavior when I use the "Allow Free Shipping" option in the Order Total module. I have it configured to give free shipping when the order is over $250.
When the sub-total of the items in my cart is over $250, everything works beautifully: all shipping options disappear on the checkout page, and the text "Free shipping for orders over $250.00" appears. Wonderful.
But when the sub-total of the items in my cart is just under $250, so that with sales tax the order total is over $250, the free shipping is activated, however, all the other shipping options (standard shipping, expedited shipping, and store pickup) remain on the page, with the default standard shipping method selected. What's really strange is that no matter what shipping method you select, the order total always shows "Shipping: $0.00"
In other words, when the sub-total is over $250, everything works perfectly and free shipping is activated. But when the sub-total is under $250 but with tax it's over $250, free shipping is still activated (which I don't want) but the shipping options remain on the checkout page instead of being replaced by the "Free shipping for orders over $250.00" text.
At first I thought this might be a problem caused by the sort order of my order total module, but switching the "Shipping" and "Tax" sort orders didn't change anything.
I do have a work around using the Free Shipping Options method instead, but I really like the aesthetics when all the shipping options disappear for free shipping, so I'd like to use the Order Total method if possible.
If you'd like to demonstrate this behavior for yourself, try adding some greeting cards to your cart and checking out (you can use fake info on the customer address page). If you add 10 packs and check out you get the weird behavior. 11 packs and it works great.

If anyone has any ideas why this weirdness if occurring, I'd love to hear them. Thanks a bundle!
