Editable Home Page Centerboxes [Support]

Hi, I'd like to put this on my website, and have loaded the files, and installed the sql. The files are there, and they're listed in the define pages editor, but I don't have the option in Configuration -> Layout Settings -> Middleboxes. There are no middle boxes to turn on. I uninstalled the Sql, then reinstalled it, then reinstalled it again, it always says 10 statements processed.

I have zecart1.3.9h, and lots of mods, including ceon uri mapping, column layout grid pro, Ep, super orders, IH2 and some others. MySQL 5.0.27 and php 5.2.13.

I'd love some help,
Thanks.

Re: Editable Home Page Centerboxes [Support]

Yes I am having the same issues. I have installed this under a couple of templates and still the same thing with the Middleboxes not showing in the Layout Settings Area.

I am also running zencart1.3.9h with Super Orders, Edit Orders and Ty Tracking.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Re: Editable Home Page Centerboxes [Support]

Ok I found the problem, at least on my end after uninstalling and reinstalling everything a few times. How I found it was I went into my cPanel and phpmyadmin and was looking to at least see if the info was being put in my database. I found it was actully put under it's own Configuration Group.

So instead of it actually being where the instructions say it is, it isn't. Instructions in Read Me, Configure Module #1 says it is here - Configuration > Layout Settings.

Mine is actually UNDER the Configuration Drop down labeled Editable Centerboxes

When I click that link I find the 2 configuration options.

"Middleboxes - Number to Display" (default setting is 3)
"Middleboxes - Position" (default setting is off)

Re: Editable Home Page Centerboxes [Support]

Ok after finally getting mine working now and looking at the various options, I am really liking this addon. Thank you for your work on this fantastic addon.

I do have one question and please pardon me as I am not a coder by any means, but I am wondering how difficult it would be to have the boxes in rows instead of columns? In other words instead of having the 3 boxes spanning across in 3 different columns, have them span 3 rows down.

Thank you for your time and help and once again thank you for your work on this addon.

Honestly I don't know.. The layout is mostly controlled by the stylesheet.. I haven't looked at options for different layouts..

I have so many mods, it was down below the bottom of the list, past where it would scroll down to! But clicking the configuration link at the top instead of relying on the drop-down worked. Thanks, I would not have thought of that.

Ahhh ok. I wasn't sure how it was controlled and since I don't know much about css and how to code I think I will leave this alone and leave it to others who have experience in this area.

I just thought it may be an idea for later down the road as it is an awesome addon as is.

Thank you for your response.

Thank you for your response.You're welcome.. Perhaps someone else will contribute an idea how to do this and submit it as a new add-on.. This add-on was designed for editable boxes to be displayed in rows on the main page.

Re: Editable Home Page Centerboxes [Support]

The CSS to change the row of boxes to a column should be very simple. Post a link to an example and I'll give it a whirl. A few of my mods were originally designed as straight lists, and I found they could be turned into dropdown or flyout menus with just a few style rules.

Hi gjh42,

Thanks for your interest and help. This is one of my wholesalers I deal with. I know they are using E-Commerce similar to ZenCart. If you look in the center area it looks similat to what I am looking for. Doesn't have to be exactly like it. I would like to have the 3 row column or close too it.

Again thank you very much in advance.

Some other site is useless for styling the Editable Centerboxes; I need to look at a site with this mod active.

I am sorry. Misread what you wanted, thought you wanted an example of what I was looking for.

I just activated it on my site here at https://www.keystoneairsoft.com/shop

Re: Editable Home Page Centerboxes [Support]

OK, I see how you could read my request the way you did:)
Modify rules in stylesheet_middleboxes.css like this:

#middlebox_1 {
/DO NOT MODIFY THE FLOAT OR WIDTH UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING!!/
float:left;
width:33%;
}

#middlebox_1 {
/DO NOT MODIFY THE FLOAT OR WIDTH UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING!!/
float:none;
width:100%;
}

Works like a charm, THANK YOU very much for your time. I actually went and did the same for middlebox 2 and 3.

Again thank you.

Re: Editable Home Page Centerboxes [Support]

Hi,

Been trying for days to get this to work Without showing the Featured/What's New/Specials - I would like to just have the centerboxes with my custom categories.

What happens is when I turn off Featured, the centerboxes with this mod go away. I'm trying to use 'display: none' for the featured but that also takes away the modded centerboxes.

Any idea how to get around this?

Thanks so much,

Julia

http://www.fredshops.comYour file merges to the tpl_index_categories.php or tpl_index_default.php files is missing some of the required code (probably one of the if statements is not properly closed) Suggest reviewing your install..

carlsum1986:

I installed the add on but I am not seeing the middlebox setting under configuration->layout settingsdouble check your install in particular this step from the readme:
From the Zen Cart admin go to "Tools -> Install SQL Patches". Copy the contents of the install_middleboxes.sql file into the form and click the "Send" button. DO NOT RUN THIS PATCH USING YOUR HOST'S PHPMyAdmin tools!! The Zen Cart SQL Patch tool properly adds table prefixes to the SQL code you run through it.> carlsum1986:
