Editable Home Page Centerboxes [Support]

carlsum1986:

I installed the add on but I am not seeing the middlebox setting under configuration->layout settings
I am also confused on which folders I should rename when you say Your_template do you mean i need to rename all folders that say custom_template?

I have the same problem here.

Have installed the addons twice and strictly follow the instructions, but couldn't find any middlebox in layout settings. Just get some middlebox.php in Tool>>define page editor. Nothing changed in my local homepage. Please help! Thanks. :frusty:

Got it.

It is not in configuration->layout settings, but lays directly under configuration. Working on it now...

Hello, is there any shop that is using this module and can show how it looks like? I can't find any live shop using it to see what people have done with it...

Hello, is there any shop that is using this module and can show how it looks like? I can't find any live shop using it to see what people have done with it...You can get an idea of what it looks like from the downloads section.. In the add-on description (and in the readme), I posted examples of two sites which were the inspiration for this mod..

This mod adds content boxes that appear on the home page and you can edit the content using the defined pages editor.. (similar to the Editable Sidebox contrib except these bixes appear in the center content area of the home page) They can contain whatever you wish and be styled anyway you like (using CSS of course).. You can activate up to 9 of these boxes..

Someone should Spell it out in the ReadMe. I've just wasted time checking and re-checking my install when it's fine, the readme is wrong!

We have figured that out.. Hence the post to provide the correct information..

When I get all healed up from two back to back surgeries, and have some FREE time, maybe I'll update the readme.. In the meantime the information is posted here in the support thread..

If that is unacceptable to you, perhaps YOU can be the "Someone should Spell it out in the ReadMe" and volunteer to update the readme..

Re: Editable Home Page Centerboxes [Support]

Hello,

I'm not sure what info is pertinent for you to help me so please let me know if you need more info to answer my question!

This mod has solved a big problem for me and I think it's wonderful, but I cannot manage to get my centerboxes lined up the way my client wants them.

I have used this mod to allow a centerbox to contain a rotating jscript advert, but the main page needs to be structured like this:

Editable Centerbox (jscript Advert)
New Products
Mainpage content

I've changed as many options as I know of, but I cannot get the new/editable centerbox on top, the new products in the middle, and the main page content on the bottom... I can achieve almost any other combination, but not the one I need! :) Right now I have:

Editable Centerbox (jscript Advert)
Mainpage content
New Products

I cannot get the bottom two to swap like I had them prior to this sweet mod.

Please help! :)

  2. http://vanni.x10.mx/vanni/images/mdc2.jpg

  4. http://vanni.x10.mx/vanni/images/mdc4.jpg
  5. http://vanni.x10.mx/vanni/images/mdc5.jpg

Images definitely not there or you have wrong permissions: Files should be 0644, directories 0755 (or 777 while you upload).

If using an editor, be careful using it because sometimes changes the links of images.

Note: I made a space to avoid link.

Re: Editable Home Page Centerboxes [Support]

Ideasgirl, thanks for your reply.
I have doubled check and found the permissions are as stated by you. The code for the images is

<a href="index.php?main_page=index&cPath=1"><img src="images/mdc1.jpg" alt="Casual" width="200" height="200" /></a>

Where could I have gone wrong?

Re: Editable Home Page Centerboxes [Support]

Just to be certain insert this image path instead:
http://vanni.x10 .mx/vanni/images/mdc1.jpg (without space) just in case code is looking in another folder rather than the main root images.

Re: Editable Home Page Centerboxes [Support]

You'll need to ask your question elsewhere in the forum as it's not specifically related to this mod.. The order in which the default Zen Cart product centerboxes (new products, specials, featured products) and the main page content appear is a default Zen Cart thing. This mod doesn't affect that. The settings for this mod only affect the placement of the editable centerboxes..

Re: Editable Home Page Centerboxes [Support]

I hate to interrupt this discussion, but the issue here does not seem to be related specifically to an issue with the Editable Home Page Centerbox mod.. This issue is related to how content within the boxes was formatted on a local server versus a test server.. This issue is NOT specific to this mod. It's more of an issue of how the centerbox content was formatted.. Vanni you'll need to ask your question elsewhere in the forum..

Re: Editable Home Page Centerboxes [Support]

Hello!

I've been using this mod and it's helped me to overcome some design issues that my clients wanted. Thanks!

However... :) Is there a way to use more than one Centerbox and sort them freely? It appears that if you use more than one Centerbox, they must be positioned directly on top of each other. I would like to use Centerboxes to 'sandwich' my mainpage.php/defined page content.

I have not been able to accomplish this so far. Am I missing something or does this otherwise very nice addition lack that functionality?

Thanks again!

Re: Editable Home Page Centerboxes [Support]

Do I recall correctly that there are supposed to be several locations for the centerboxes, above or below stock content blocks? Can more than one of the centerbox locations be active at the same time?

Not set up to work that way.. You can only pick one location at a time..
