Support Thread UPDATED: Reviews by Guest & CAPTCHA using TTF & GD for Zen-Cart v1.3.9

Still having issues as well.

  1. All CAPTCHA images render properly.

  2. Contact Us - CAPTCHA works, no login required.

  3. Tell a Friend - CAPTCHA works, no login required.

  4. Write a Review - still gets a LOGON page with CAPTCHA.

Does something else need to be set for a guest to Write a Review???

Thanks,

-Rich

Hi, rlexyd!

Just wanted to say thanks for a great mod! I've been looking for a good captcha script and this definitely fit the bill. I know your readme says it isn't your code, but I appreciate the effort you went to in order to save us all some trouble. Kudos to Andrew as well for his original work. Great stuff!

Thank you again! :)

Re: Support Thread UPDATED: Reviews by Guest & CAPTCHA using TTF & GD for Zen-Cart v1.3.9

I have an issue with Tell-A-Friend function.

Full details here: http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=179461

I'm just checking all the options and wondered whether Captcha on that form was causing the problem.

If anyone here has any thougths about possible conflicts please let me know.

Meanwhile I'll keep hunting elsewhere.

Question. Shouldn't CAPTCHA be turned off once you're logged in? I don't see the point of making logged user fill it out for writing reviews and telling a friend.

There's always the possibility a spammer will create an ID to log in and use your system with that account. So keeping the Captcha for registered users is one small deterrent/security feature worth retaining.

Also in my version of Tell-A-Friend form I've removed the message box to prevent spammers using it to spread information. The system now sends a friendly standard invitation to check out the product.

Re: Support Thread UPDATED: Reviews by Guest & CAPTCHA using TTF & GD for Zen-Cart v1.3.9

Try this.

STEP (1)
(root)\includes\templates(your_template)\templates\tpl_tell_a_friend_default.php

Remove the box....

<label for="email-message"><?php echo FORM_TITLE_FRIEND_MESSAGE; ?></label>

<?php echo zen_draw_textarea_field('message', 30, 5, '', 'id="email-message"'); ?> <br class="clearBoth" />

Replace with....

<p>(Simple friendly instruction on the page.)</p>

This alters the page on the store site to replace the message box with a simple, friendly note.

STEP (2)

(root)\includes\languages(language)(your_template)\tell_a_friend.php

Edit the define() statements as desired for the output message.

I can't show you my site yet as it's down for upgrade.

sigh - finally figured out. I did not remove the following code from the \includes\modules\pages\product_reviews_write\header_php.php

if (!$_SESSION['customer_id']) {
  $_SESSION['navigation']->set_snapshot();
  zen_redirect(zen_href_link(FILENAME_LOGIN, '', 'SSL'));
}

Working as advertised now. There are several differences between 1.39h and the page included in this products download. Hard to figure out which differences need to be ignored and which need to be included.

If it supports multi languages, help me how to config it.

Thanks and regards.

Re: Support Thread UPDATED: Reviews by Guest & CAPTCHA using TTF & GD for Zen-Cart v1.3.9

I have just installed this and when I try to test it out whether it's creating an account, tell a friend, contact us, or write a review I get a blank page. I looked into my error log and this is the error it gives me.

[Sat Jul 09 17:59:15 2011] [error] [client 97.114.249.193] PHP Fatal error: Call to a member function close() on a non-object in /home/fromprop/public_html/includes/classes/captcha.php on line 341, referer: http://frompropertorocker.com/

What does this mean and how can I fix it?

Thanks!

For now I turned them off in the admin.

Re: Support Thread UPDATED: Reviews by Guest & CAPTCHA using TTF & GD for Zen-Cart v1.3.9

Installed the captcha mod in v 1.39h
Everything works fine.
Whenever the mouse hovers over the 'redraw' button the cursor never changes to a hand from the default arrow.
was this the intention or is there something that I can do to correct this
thanks

Re: Support Thread UPDATED: Reviews by Guest & CAPTCHA using TTF & GD for Zen-Cart v1.3.9

Hello all,

I've just spent a couple of hours reading through dozens of pages but could not find an answer to my problem so here i go.

I have two pretty much identical websites running on the same server, both on cart v1.3.8a. For the first one the captcha works perfectly (great mod by the way :smile: ) but on the second one i keep getting "You did not enter the validation code correctly. Please, try again." even if the code is correct. However, if after page load i hit redraw to generate a new image, the code will be recognized. As far as i can tell the session captcha field does not contain the code for the generated image on page load.

The test file works smoothly.

I've seen people reporting this bug but could not find a fix anywhere.

Maybe it's an obvius fix but I've hit a dead end here, so any help is much appreciated :D

Thank you

I have no idea, but the first thought that struck me was whether, if you're testing two sites at the same time your browser is remembering the first and storing the data in a session that's being passed on to the second site.

Can you test both sites using two different PCs or two different browsers on your PC to see if you still get this behaviour?

Thanks for the reply worldmaker,

I've been testing them on different browsers and different pcs with no luck. But that is not the case. One of the sites has been live for a year now and people have been creating accounts and sending emails without any problems. :dontgetit

I guess I'll just replace the module :(

Thank you

Could there be a conflict within the one server you're using? Can you move the faulty site to another server?
