Simple Popup 1.0

:D
Not sure why this worked, but I resaved the file as x.jpg and then changed the reference to that file in the css, and it now shows. It just doesn't like png files I guess.

It would appear the code is showing up before the jquery library is loaded.

When you pasted the code into html_header.php did you paste it at the bottom of the page???

Put it right before the </head>

i'm so sorry for replying so late.. but yes i did all you instructed. I am now going to try and do a fresh install of the mod. ( did i see an update?) so i will let you know :-)

Re: Simple Popup 1.0

Hi,

I've installed this to my 1.3.9h site but it doesn't show.

I can not set up the configuration>Simple Popup.

I don't understand:

Start time - What format should this be in? I've tried 2008:08:07 18:11:31 - but this doesn't work
End time - Same as above
Link is self explanatory - http://somesite.com
Image - Just the image name, placed in the correct folder?
Campaign - if this utm_campaign is set, ignore popup. I don't want it ignored. What am I suppose to put here?
Timezone - Is this supposed to be the stores timezone? if so, should it be "Europe/London"

This seems like a briliant module if only it would work!

I'm struggling here. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Re: Simple Popup 1.0

Sorry everyone has been having problems. I have uncovered a small bug in the latest version where if the campaign is set blank it will not show the popup.

The easy fix for now is to just put something into the campaign field and your popup should work.

I'll be adding in some code to check for this in a later version.

Start time and endtime will accept anything strtotime will accept.
http://us3.php.net/manual/en/function.strtotime.php

I usually put in strings like 'May 17 2011, 3:00pm'

I get in the habit of putting the year there after the popup bit me new years last year.

Image is simply the image name put in the correct directory. Please leave off the directory name.

Timezone is a relic from an older version. It is no longer used in the latest version. There should be an update sql file to run to get rid of it.

Campaign is a bit tricky. I regularly send out emails that pertain to the same exact thing the popup does. In order to suppress the popup image I put in the google analytics campaign tracking code here to ignore the popups for all our emailers. Beware of the bug that exists when this is left blank.

Re: Simple Popup 1.0

Hi,

The mod is great and works very easily.

The only issue I am having is that the popup does not appear every time I reload the page. Is there a timer on it that only allows it to appear after x minutes had passed? Or how exactly does it work?

Thanks a lot!

Re: Simple Popup 1.0

This is by design. The popup relies on a session cookie being placed. This way it only shows once per visit.

Re: Simple Popup 1.0

I don't know if anyone can help me on this. I've installed the simple popup addon and it works very well, pretty much exactly what I needed, with one exception. I would like a new window to open for the popup link. Does anyone know how to do this? Have looked at other threads but nothing seems to explain this.
Thanks
S

Re: Simple Popup 1.0

sorcha:

I would like a new window to open for the popup link.

In the file simplepopup/simplepopup.php find the line:

    $modal = '<a href=\"' . $simple_popup_link . '\"><img src=\"popupimages/' . $simple_popup_image . '\" alt=\"Popup\" width=\"' . $simple_popup_width . '\" height=\"'. $simple_popup_height . '\" /></a>';

Add to the anchor tag (a href) a new target (target="new")

    $modal = '<a href=\"' . $simple_popup_link . '\" target="new"><img src=\"popupimages/' . $simple_popup_image . '\" alt=\"Popup\" width=\"' . $simple_popup_width . '\" height=\"'. $simple_popup_height . '\" /></a>';

That should do it.

Re: Simple Popup 1.0

Hi,

I have this with 1.39d but im also using jscript_jquery-1.5.min.js for some other things and it seems to be conflicting. When i delete this file, the pop up works, but gives me errors for the other things i have. When i keep them both, the pop up does not work, but get no errors.

Any thoughts on how to fix this issue?

You should probably update.. though it's probably not related.

You should be able to just delete one of your jscript_jquery script and have it work. the jscript_ script are automatically loaded. Make sure you don't have two.

Feel free to post or email me the website and I'll take a look.

Re: Simple Popup 1.0

Anyway to create an image button with this and be able to put it on any page? Opens when a customer clicks on the button...

Re: Simple Popup 1.0

I have installed your plugin to a fresh new installation here,

It is not working, why? Where should I put the popupimages folder? I leave it to the root

Thank you.

Re: Simple Popup 1.0

Try setting the campaign field in configuration to be anything. There was a bug where if it was set blank the popup wouldn't show.

Thanks, I found the cause, a file was not put into common folder.

However, new problem here (I actually post this question in another post, I didn't know you keep watching this thread, and I don't know how to delete my post, sorry for double posting):

I was able to create a website with popup when the home page is loaded using a mod called Simple Popup, in this website, I am using the default template comes with zencart installation.

I want to use this popup mod on my other sites like this one, I believe I already followed the instruction, just like what I did in the working website, however, the popup doesn't show up.:no:

Can someone take a look at my site and tell me what's wrong with it?

Thank you very much.:hug::hug:

Re: Simple Popup 1.0

I am really sucked at this: the jquery file is so messy, I guess that's because it's been compiled?

I am not sure if two jquery files can be put together? or the php code can load more jquery files one by one?

Can anyone tell me how to make this popup working on my site?

I've uploaded my jquery files here, it contains three files:
two from the mod simplepopup_1.1
jquery.simplemodal.1.4.1.min
jscript_jquery-1.5.1.min
another one is the original jquery from aberdeen_neutral template

Thank you very much in advance.

The mod is good, it works in IE7,8 but doesn't work in IE6, see the screenshot for detail

Thanks for sharing.

Re: Simple Popup 1.0

Good mod.
Only problem I have is that whatever size I have the popup image, the scrollbars always appear.
Is there any way to disable them ?
Thanks
