Thanks a lot.

I know this probably sounds like a stupid question. I have BackUp ZC installed on v1.5.1. and I have several full backups stored on the server of both the database and store files. I'm having trouble with installing the image handler 4 where I'm getting an error message in the zen cpanel telling me there are files missing or unreadable. I would like to do a complete restore but I' not sure of where to put the .sql files to restore the database. I tried using the Hosts restore system but it only stores daily, weekly, and monthly backups and I want to choose a different date. What's the best way to do a complete restore using the files saved on the server.

A sql file is the data that was exported from a sql database. So you need to use a SQL utility or MySQL to import the data into a database.
phpMyAdmin is one of these MySQL utilities.

It's just what I needed. I'm pretty new at this, but I'm learning.

I can't log in to my admin page after I replaced the includes and myadmin files that I saved using Backup ZC. I also replaced the database of the same date. I get a 404 page not found error from my website otherwise my website is working fine.
I tried disabling the cache and cookies but that didn't do anything. I checked the configuration files and they seem to be alright. Do I need to replace all the files from the original backup? I believe the two files I mentioned were the only ones altered. Any help is appreciated.

Well, I went ahead and did a full replace of the the files from backup zc but now when I try to log in to admin I get the System Setup Required page. My website is still working though. What should I be looking for? I did have the includes configure.php fail in the upload.
but when I did a compare they were identical and seemed to be correct. I 'm at a loss here. Any ideas.

Not seeing the site tree it sounds like you are missing folders/files in the admin section ZC. Double check that the admin section has all the folders and files.

Figured it out - finally! :yes: The saved files I was using had corrupted files in it, probably from an interrupted download, I'm guessing. Luckily I had saved several earlier versions.
Thanks for your help

Skip, dream addon, I really want to have it fire up on my site.
The installing is fine, but when I try to backup my site I always got internal server error (seem like 500 error, the error don't say 500, also there is no error message both in server error logs and zencarr Cache fold.), it seems that godaddy just limit the memory/cpu use or something else, not know since I have little knowledge about codes.
My site information from zencart server infor page: zencart 1.3.9H, godaddy Linux shared hosting, PHP 5.2.17, PHP memory limit 64M, PHP File Uploads: On Max Size: 32M, Database: MySQL 5.0.92-log.
I have 2 sites both on godaddy shared hosting, one is free coming with a domain name on godaddy, on this site BankUp ZC works fine, whole site size is 111MB
On another site the whole site size is about 78MB, smaller than the free site, but I always failed, if I choose to only backup the SQL file or the files under the root directory, it did work.
I know this problem should be on Godaddy side, what should I mention when I contact Godaddy support ? or is there a workaround on the addon side, Skip ?
Thank you, for your great work

In your ZC admin go to tools->Server/Version Info on both sites and see what is the difference from the one working and the one that is not.
It looks like the memory might be the issue. I like 128mb for php memory

Thank you very much for your reply, , Skip
Actually both sites have the same PHP memory limits: 64MB
I have saved the sever/version info from 2 sites into 2 files, and then compared by winmerger, below is the difference:

one more questions: can I change the PHP memory limit from 64MB to 128MB by editing the PHP.ini ?

Yes. Your hosting company can help you with specific instructions for the way they've configured your specific server.

Sorry about not getting back here sooner. The one thing that you also might check is the permissions for your-admin/backup folder and your cache folder. Are the two sites the same?

It's OK, Skip, you are such kind nice guy.
no, they are not, In my free site these 2 folders are both 755 permission, in my production site both 705, I don't change the permission, since both folder are writable (Cache folder can be wrote into debug files, Backups folder can be wrote into SQL files)
I did change the permission to 777 in my production site, same result, no help.
BTW, I have already changed the PHP memory from 64MB to 128MB by uploading a customized php5.ini into my site root, now the server/version info page says the PHP memory is 128MB (I did this by following this article: jamesnorthway dot com/edit_php_ini_godaddy_4gh.html)

Still Firefox gave the exact same error:
"500 Internal Server Error:
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
Apache Server at mydomainname dot com Port 80"
PHP Warning: stat() [<a href='function.stat'>function.stat</a>]: stat failed for ../interactive_2012_ in /*****/html/myadmin/includes/classes/archive.php on line 245
"interactive_2012_" this is the wordpress folder (I integrated wordpress into my zencart site), actually the full name is "interactive_2012_11_2_wordpress_stop", I don't know why the folder name was trimmed short.
Skip, would you please figure out what's going on?

Try this test.
edit your_admin/backup_zconfig.php
find starting on line 51
$exclude_files = array("".DIR_FS_CATALOG."cache",
"".DIR_FS_CATALOG."extras",
"".DIR_FS_CATALOG."pub"
);
Add your worpress root folder to exclude files;
$exclude_files = array("".DIR_FS_CATALOG."cache",
"".DIR_FS_CATALOG."extras",
"".DIR_FS_CATALOG."pub",
"".DIR_FS_CATALOG."interactive_2012_11_2_wordpress_stop"
);
Note: If a folder is in this list it has to be really there.

Thank you Skip:smile:
Actually I already did this, now the complete site size is only 67MB, still got 500 error, and there is no backup zip file generated in the Cache folder.
Any other thoughts?

Hi, I've tried searching in this thread but can't seem to find an answer. My friend has a site with a LOT of downloadable files (now over 80 gig). Whenever she tries to backup using cpanel, it tries to add those files in with the backup and of course, it fails.
With this add on's selective directory option, can she exclude all the downloadable files and products from the backup and only do the database and zen cart/add on files?
Thank you,
Tracy

edit your_admin/backup_zconfig.php
If the files are out side of zen cart installation you need to use the real path to the folder.
ie: /path/to/your/webspace/public_html/zen/folder_you_want_to_exclude -- leave no trailing slash
You can find /path/to/your/webspace/public_html information in zen carts includes/configure.php file and then just add the folder you want to exclude.
Example:
$exclude_files = array("".DIR_FS_CATALOG."cache",
"".DIR_FS_CATALOG."extras",
"".DIR_FS_CATALOG."pub",
"/home/webspace/public_html/donotbackup"
);
