Screwed something up

I am getting so frustrated. I don't know what I did, but prior to starting my upgrade, I backed up my site in the sql area. Today I started upgrading to 1.3.9h, and apparently wiped out a lot of info because now my website says things like "setting up your zencart website" and other installation instructions. So I restored back to my previous database and my site still isn't working! I see the files are still dated today's date, but it says the restore was successful. Was I supposed to back up the files somewhere? I thought when you backed up in the sql area it backed up both your database and the files associated with it. Can someone please clarify? :dontgetit

No files are one thing and the database is another

Re: Screwed something up

ok. Hey if I go back to the 1.3.9h I uploaded and get all the "installing zencart" and other set up info, can I just re-install zencart? I wonder if this would be faster and less frustrating since I haven't backed up my original files.

Cant't do any thing about your customized files unless you still have them??? If you do you still need to insure that they are clean

Re: Screwed something up

I read through the previous posts on this and have done everything it says. I have uploaded a good version of my site (yes it is backed up), and did an FTP of my files to my computer. Currently everything is working great.

I uploaded the 1.3.9h full file set into my zc, but when I try the install_zc link it keeps bringing up the option to Install, not Upgrade. I don't remember how I fixed this last time!!! Can you please re-advise?

Did you over write the currenbt set of files or install the new version into a folder as the tutorial suggests?

If you over write your files - Are the original configure.php files intact?

Re: Screwed something up

I overwrote the files. All my configure files are present and correct.

Re: Screwed something up

You might have to select install to be presented with the upgrade option???

As I do this almost in my sleep I can't recall the exact procedure

Re: Screwed something up

Before I was getting a straight Upgrade Option, along with Install. I kept getting error messages so I started all over by restoring my database/files, and now no option!

Re: Screwed something up

Aha! I see my personalized configure.php files were empty in the full file set. I input the info and now I get the Upgrade option. We'll see what errors I get....

Re: Screwed something up

Ok, well I am getting the same error messages as before:

SKIPPED: Cannot insert configuration_key "SHOW_SPLIT_TAX_CHECKOUT" because it already exists
SKIPPED: Cannot add index idx_prod_id_orders_id_zen to table orders_products because it already exists.
SKIPPED: Cannot add index idx_cust_id_orders_id_zen to table orders because it already exists.

I read in another thread this may be caused by an improper FTP upload of the files. This is why I originally started all over and re-uploaded my personal files, as well as the zc 1.3.9h files.

I see there is a total of 1799 files in the 1.3.9h full file set. I only uploaded 1796. What is the best way to find the 3 I'm missing?? Winmerge?

Re: Screwed something up

because it already exists can be ignored as it is only informational

No clue what 3 files are missing
A good FTP client will report failures

Re: Screwed something up

Yea it had a section for Failures, but nothing was listed. Because I want to ignore them, but it doesn't give me an option to ignore and continue what should I do? Can I manually go into my phpAdmin and delete them out?

Re: Screwed something up

Those messages are after you perform a db upgrade

select "recheck"

DO NOT delete them

Re: Screwed something up

Clicked Recheck, but same error messages came up. I don't think the update actually occurred. I checked my version info in phpAdmin and this is what it says:

project major minor comment date
Zen-Cart Main 1 3.9h Version Update 1.3.8->1.3.9h 2010-11-11 13:11:10
Zen-Cart Database 1 3.9h Version Update 1.3.8->1.3.9h 2010-11-11 13:11:10

My previous version when first installed says "Fresh Installation" where these two say "Version Update 1.3.8->1.3.9h." Is this what it is supposed to say when you do a full update??

Re: Screwed something up

Recheck should return you to the page where upgrade versions is listed not the page where the
SKIPPED: Cannot insert configuration_key "SHOW_SPLIT_TAX_CHECKOUT" because it already exists

is displayed

And these are not errors just informational
