I am also having the same issue. I actually tested my pay pal account once and the order showed up on my administrative side fine. I recieved an order ysterday and it is not showing that there was an order made. It has cleared pay pal and now I am unable to see what the customer ordered. Please help I am very confused. What could cause it to work once and then not work again?

It's simple: the IPN module requires absolutely perfect uninterrupted communication from PayPal's server to your server, behind-the-scenes. If PayPal's server is too busy, or if the stars don't line up just right, the IPN may not arrive, and thus your order is left in a black hole.
If you use Express Checkout instead, you won't have that problem.
And, if you upgrade to the latest version of Zen Cart (yours is several years old), then you'll benefit from several important security and bugfix updates, including several related to PayPal.

Dr. Here are the files. One is using the PayPal's button and the other zencart's checkout button. Results are the same but log file content might differ and might be some importance to you.Got the logs. They only show the beginning of checkout. They show no evidence of the customer returning from PayPal to your store nor your store completing the final payment request.
And there are no ipn log details there, suggesting that your server is not receiving any notifications from PayPal about your transactions (granted, those only happen when a transaction is completed, and if no payment is made or no status update takes place, there will be no IPN sent, and therefore no log.)
