[Done v1.5.0] New Version v1.39H Doesnt Show Product Description?

How off topic are we? [insert sound of slapping own wrist]

Oh what the hell, we disagree about whether Zen Cart should appear accessible or cutting edge, and whether PCI will force big hosts to upgrade to latest versions of PHP or (my view) use it as an excuse to try to cross sell their own inflexible and limited shopping cart offerings instead.

But hopefully anybody else reading this will see that we all agree that Zen Cart should be used on servers that are kept up-to-date. And if a host hasn't kept the PHP up-to-date on a server, then it's unlikely to be the only thing that's outdated. If they're not responsive to requests to upgrade for PCI or just best practise, find a more responsible one like Vger or one of the other Zen Cart certified hosts.

Switching the server to PHP 5 from 4 fixed this same exact problem for me.

(Product descriptions now showing in the admin area editor)

Host: (Concentric/XO)

For this host:

In .htaccess:
CGIMapExtension /usr/local/bin/php5 php

Actually, this is very much on topic. Zencart 1.3.9h contains code that only works in PHP 5.2.3+ (The htmlspecialchars function uses the double_encode parameter and heaven knows what else).

A bit sloppy by the devs but I don't blame them much. It is not easy to be looking over the shoulder on every line of code written to make sure it works with some obsolete version of PHP and I bet none of them would be crazy enough to be running PHP 4.

However, they choose to state that the application is PHP 4.3.9 compatible and therefore, should be looking over their shoulders to make sure they only write for PHP 4.

So we have a situation where the application is probably only ever tested on PHP 5 yet in order to appear "accessible" it is labelled as being PHP 4 compatible.

On everything else we do agree as you say ... even a bit on the subject of going off-topic :)
