link to ERP system and b2b functionality

Hi,

I have tried to read what I can find to answer this question myself, but I haven't found the answer.

This product looks amazing.

I an looking to create an e-commerce site that will allow my business customers (corporate) to login and place orders for products that they are contracted to purchase.

I was thinking of setting up a customer1.domain.com setup where each one would have their own store - not sure if this is a good idea - comments welcome.

This is clothing so they might want to order 1 style but different quantities of each size. It would be nice if the order entry of sizes were efficient.

There might be a normal site for consumers where they can order anything and it seems clear that zencart would work well.

In both cases the stock status, pricing, order status and order entry would need to interfaced to an ERP system that depends on .net framework with web services.

Is this possible with zencart?

If not zencart can other comment on other solutions?

Thanks,

Juniorsa

Re: link to ERP system and b2b functionality

Interfacing will require a good bit of custom coding and anything using MS stuff like netframe is cumbersome

If anyone is looking for such a thing, one does exist and is in the latter stages of development by a spanish consultancy.

We are about to start testing it.

Re: link to ERP system and b2b functionality

Sorry for late reply - misplaced the thread.

OpenERP on Postgresql, Zen Cart on mysql is OK. I need to start on this sooner than later

FWIW There is a chap near me who does this, but at considerable cost and wants to hog all the hosting.

Re: link to ERP system and b2b functionality

The spanish consultancy I mentioned want €500+VAT to get it working with my shop.
But their description of how it works seems correct, functionally.

So, I've decided to wait for now until I have had time to check that OpenERP will do what we want in the very long-term, before committing to the connector.

Re: link to ERP system and b2b functionality

That is way cheaper than I was guestimated, however, I was seeking more than a connector.

May have to sit and think for a while.

What were you thinking of doing?

I assume you are using OpenERP now?

Re: link to ERP system and b2b functionality

Basically I need a shopping facility that uses the same pgsql database as OpenERP. The guestimate was largely to convert ZC to run on pgsql and then utilise the customer account side of the OpenERP database. I am hoping that a pgsql ZC will be released sooner than later to better afford the marriage.

Re: link to ERP system and b2b functionality

Try phreebooks/phreedom which is a free open source ERP with an existing zen cart connector. Did I mention it's free and so is the connector?:D

Thanks lankeeyankee

Seen Phreebooks but never before Phreedom. From its list of features, this might just work for me.

Cheers

Hi torvista.

If you don´t mind, I would like to know what is the company that offered you the "integration" between your ZC shop and OpenERP.

We have an online shop and we have managed for some years with a basic ERP software, 100% seperated from the shop database. Now we want to integrate OpenERP with the web.

Can you give us an update of your final decision around this "problem"?

Re: link to ERP system and b2b functionality

Hi,
their connector is for v5 OpenERP not v6 so I will wait for that.

I am (in theory...) evaluating OpenERP prior to deciding that "it's the one" that I am going to invest in, and the more I read about it, the more professional it looks and customisation seems to be within my capabilities. I have no doubt I will be using it.

The company I spoke to was AvanzOSC in Guipuzcoa. I am sure they know what they are doing codewise as they developed the connector for osc and have a constant input in the spanish forums for OpenERP.
regards
Steve

Re: link to ERP system and b2b functionality

Hi Guys,

I've been evaluating a lot of ERPs and I found out that openERP is the solution for our company. However, I have a few problems with openERP though.

  1. Is openERP able to import zencart data correctly? (orders, customers, manufactuers & vendors, inventory stock count, etc.)

  2. If it is possible to connect, would it be CSV? or can the database be automatically connected?

I just need an ERP system that will connect to all my stores...

Its a connector between the two databases and can import/export all the necessary stuff.
I haven't had time myself to get any further with implementing OpernERP but it certainly seems the best.
You can contact the people I mentioned earlier in english, I'm sure they'll be no problem, they are very active in the OpenERP community.

Hi Torvista,

I was trying to find the vendor you were talking about, but I'm having a trouble looking for them on the web.

Do you have their website??

Thanks in advance.

Re: link to ERP system and b2b functionality

OK here's what I'm looking to do. I currently run a typical ZenCart store and am going to have 2 retail locations.
Has anyone had goo experience with a POS system that integrates well with the ZenCart database?
I'm wanting the POS sytem to use all the inventory and product data from the Zen database and update product quantities accordingly when something is sold in of the retail stores.
Anyone had any experience with this?
Thanks in advance for the reply

Re: link to ERP system and b2b functionality

I've used QuickBooks for years in my retail store. Loging all sales, tracking customers and inventory is automatic (obviousley)

Would love a free module that connects QuickBooks with Zen but sadly never found one for the UK.

Plenty of 'paid' options are available but a bit pricy for a few mins work.
