Moving full installation w/ template+content to new Cpanel account

I need detailed instructions on moving a full zencart installation with template and full store content I've added to a new cpanel account, on a new domain and ip. The old domain it was on has to keep it's ip and 301 redirect to the new domain which must be the same exact store fully functional. I know there is some sql involved.

Depending on your host they should do it for you for free or at least help you out with any steps you have questions on.

Re: Moving full installation w/ template+content to new Cpanel account

Edit timed out by 1 minute :cry:

Basically what I do is:

Install a fresh zen cart of the same version, this way the configure.php files are correct.

Download all files from your old site, delete includes/configure.php and admin/includes/configure.php

Go into phpMyAdmin (on old server), click on the zen cart table you're using. Select all of the tables and export them.

Upload files to your new server over-riding all zen cart files installed.

Go into phpMyAdmin on the new server, select the zen cart table. Select all tables and Drop them. Go to Import, and import the old sql file you previously downloaded.

Your good to go!

(Don't delete ANYTHING on the old server until you verify that your new site works 100%)

As far as the redirect goes use cPanel to add a 301 Wildcard redirect from old domain to new

The two includes/configure.php files are specific to the installation. Leaving them out preserves the information created for the new domain.

You'll need to upgrade the files in your renamed admin folder just as if it were still named "admin"

If using phpmyadmin you must select a DB first

If you still have access to your old cpanel account see if they provide you the ability to create a "FullSite Backup"

See if your new host will restore from the backup file generated from that

It will contain ALL details from your old account, mail, users, DB's, files etc

Re: Moving full installation w/ template+content to new Cpanel account

Ok I dropped the tables so I dont get that error anymore. But fix_cache_key doesnt appear to be working and newdomain/index.php still takes me back to setup even though I already did that setup

Re: Moving full installation w/ template+content to new Cpanel account

Sounds like you have problems beyond the scope of Zen Cart if both the index.php and the fix_cache_key.php files don't work.

Note the tutorial link given in post#2 earlier. Did you follow that? Did you keep the correct DB_PREFIX when setting up the new site? Most people just ignore that step and then come here and post symptoms like you're mentioning.

You got it exactly right in my case, that was something I had skipped, I didnt ignore that step on purpose. I checked the original one and it was ' ' or something. I didnt know how to set that parameter on the new server.

That is a setting in the DB info in both of your configure.php files

Re: Moving full installation w/ template+content to new Cpanel account

Old Server

includes/configure.php :
define('DB_PREFIX', '');

admin1/includes/configure.php :
define('DB_PREFIX', '');

New server

includes/configure.php :
define('DB_PREFIX', '');

admin/includes/configure.php:
define('DB_PREFIX', '');

admin1/includes/_configure.php is in there but there is no
admin1/includes/configure.php

I hope this is enough for one of you kind more experienced ones to tell me why things aren't working.
