The most SIMPLE thing and it doesnt work!!!!!!!!!!!!

Guys ive done so many carts now and i want to try this zencart out - im nearly done all i have left is to find the following:

A - Edit /admin/includes/configure.php

Ive done this part .....

How do i find this? Where is it? :/

I assumed you were trying to change the name of your 'admin' folder. You got the first two instances right. The third is where I mentioned:

Like stevesh, I don't understand your questions. The text is already in the file. You just need to rename the admin path to suit the new name you've given it. Uber simple.

Oki did the first one, i changed the 'admin' to my user name ?? user name being my personal user name i set up in the install section right?

You're trying to change the name of your 'admin' folder, right ?

NO

It's referring to a FOLDER name.

Instead of visiting www.your_site.com/admin to access your store's admin, you need to rename that to something else that's not easily guessed. So, YOU pick a name, like "fred" or "i_like_jalapenos" or whatever, and you substitute all references to /admin/ in the admin configure.php file with that path name, and then in your FTP program you ALSo rename the admin folder to that name.

oh my god - honestly im not understanding this proccess bit...who wants a quick cash job? its my boss - he wants a cart set up but he wants zencart but now im having trouble geting this part up!

ye first time ... ive just noticed im installing before editing? is that where im going wrong or something? and how would i change the admin folder name...and what do i need to edit - i reaqlly dont get the documentation for the install :(

I wona ask you something as you seem to know too much about this zencart system - do you know how i would add a new table (html coding) above the Featured Products section so we have our own info at the top maybe an image and some text etc ... but does really have to be html coding if poss.

TM often disables standard Zen Cart admin switches and functions to get the layout they sold you on. Try it and see.

Hard to say, since Template Monster has messed with that, too.

Best advice I can offer - install the Firefox browser and the Web Developer plugin for Firefox. You can use those to see where in the stylesheet you change the styling of the various page elements.

Ctrl-Shift-Y will allow you to hover over a section of the page and see the class and id names for that section in the box at the top. The statements in the stylesheet that begin with # are id's and the ones that begin with dots are classes.

Ctrl-Shift-E will open the CSS editor and allow you to edit the stylesheet and see the changes in real time without changing anything permanently. An essential tool.

Some prefer Firebug, which does much the same thing.

(If you're using Firefox 4 or 5, you'll need to remap the editor shortcut, since Firefox has appropriated Ctrl-Shift-E for an internal function - I use Ctrl-Shift-Q.)
