Free Shipping Options not working with zones

Hello all,

Thx in advance for any help/feedback this community can give.

I am using the lastest version of Zen Cart 1.3.9h.

Free Shipping Option seems to be activated (green dot) when no shipping zone is selected, but when I select a shipping zone it gets deactivated (yellow dot).

My objective is to have free shipping on all items within Canada. Outside of Canada I would simply like them to have the flat rate shipping option.

Right now the only shipping modules I have installed are the Flat Rate module and the Free Shipping Options module.

The yellow dot indicates a Zone is set ...

If it is not working for your Zone, check the Zone Definition and the DEFINE and see what you have added to that Zone Definition for the:
Country:
Zone:

to ensure it is defined correctly ...

Thank you so much for your informative and quick response. I did not know that the yellow dot simply denoted that I had specified a Zone :blush: I was under the impression that it meant the module was not active.

In any case, I have tested the checkout and it works fine, automatically presenting the Free Shipping Option to a Canadian address.

Your posts throughout this forum have been immensely helpful throughout the setup of my online store. I'm truly appreciative of yours and other member's efforts on this forum. Take care and have a great day!

The yellow dot can mean there is a problem ... as well as mean that a Zone is set as a filter on the module ...

We would like to do free shipping the US....and a flat rate of $65 to Canada and a flat rate of $125 to all other countries...
Is it possible to do?

Go to the Localiz########s/Taxes ... Zone Definitions ...

Create a Zone Definition for US Shipping Only and add the DETAILS for what US is for you on the Country/Zone settings ...

Create a Zone Definition for Canada Shipping Only and add the DETAILS for what Canada is for you on the Country/Zone settings ...

Create a Zone Definition for Rest of the World Shipping Only and add the DETAILS for what the Rest of the World is for you on the Country/Zone settings ...

Go to the Modules ... Shipping ... and install the Free Shipping Options freeoptions ... and set the Total >= 0.00 and set the Zone to the US Shipping Only ...

Install the Flat Rate flat ... and set the Rate to 65.00 and the Zone to Canada Shipping Only ...

Clone the Flat Rate flat shipping module for Flat Rate flatworld ... do a search on:
clone flat

to learn how to do this ...

Install the Flat Rate flatworld ... and set the Rate to 125.00 and the Zone to Rest of the World Shipping Only ...

The 'sort order' dot is yellow.....why might it be yellow instead of green?

If you have a Zone Definition set then you will see the yellow dot to indicate that there is a filter on the shipping module ...

#1 - So the yellow dot is ok?

#2 - So...I thought we would only have the one shipping price for this one item - hard saddlebags...but now it turns out ..there are several different types of items with different shipping rates,,,
How do I keep shipping free in the US....and set shipping costs for other parts of the world for certain products?

That is correct, the yellow dot can mean a problem with the Shipping Module such as installing USPS without a user id ... or it can mean you have set a Zone on the Shipping module and it then indicates that it is filtered ...

To offer the US Free Shipping, the easiest way is to use the Free Shipping Options freeoptions with a Zone Definition set for the US ... setting the Total to >= 0 would make this always show ...

Then your Zones set on the other shipping modules will only show those for Canada or the Rest of the World ...

So...I removed the flat rate shipping set price clones that we created earlier...is that correct...?...because those were set for a price...but the shipping price is variable...

So now...what?

so ........when a customer goes to buy...does he see free shipping to the US ..and a selection for Canada and the rest of the world...I would suppose USPS shipping?

Okay so you would add Weight to all of your Products, then install the USPS shipping module ...

If you want USPS for Canada and the Rest of the World, then you need to build a Zone Definition with the DETAILS of every one except who you are using as the US ...

To create a Zone Definition for the Rest of the World, excluding the United States, you can use:

Make that Zone definition and add it to the USPS and that is the only one available to the Rest of the World ...

NOTE: if you want to offer the US both Free Shipping Options freeoptions and USPS as an alternative choice, then do not add a Zone to the USPS ... now US customers will see the Free Shipping Options and USPS as a choice ...

The Rest of the World would only see USPS ...

Could you look in the Modules ... Order Totals ... Shipping ... and see if you have Free Shipping enabled for either National, International or Both ...

Next, what shipping modules are installed and what Zones are set?

You also have a lot of Products marked as Always Free Shipping, are those meant to be Free Shipping for everyone?
