Column Grid / Single Listing Template Alternative

I re-worked the Single Listing Template mod for Zen 1.5

Part of this was just because I struggled to make the further adaptations I needed on that existing code. I just wanted it to work the way that I needed and it is no criticism of SLT in the slightest.

Mine is called SNAF because I tried to arrange the letters 'S' 'N' 'A' and 'F' (specials, featured, all, new) and this arrangement made me laugh.

What it does:
-- adds column grid functionality
-- installs nicely in 1.5.0
-- let's the user choose to use product_listing format rather than default format for specials, new, featured, and all listing from settings in admin
-- adds a dropdown filter to product_listing in column view so the listing can be sorted according to criteria such as price. Display of this is set in admin for each listing individually
-- let's the user choose to include salemaker items in specials or not
-- adds the ability to use get parameters on the specials page to filter by category so that it is easy to create specials pages for a specific category

What it doesn't do :
-- play well with previous versions without modifying the sql statements. basically it auto-installs the sql stuff to suit the structure needed in 1.5. Re-working it for previous versions would be possible but let's move forward.
-- do anything at all with the center boxes like SLT does. It just works with the main listing pages

SNAF unashamedly does the things that I need it to do. But if anybody would like to try it on 1.5 and attempt to break it and spot my typos and errors I would love that. Please let me know how you get on.

Just installed in V1.5 and seems to be working great :)

Well, I don't think it doesn't work with 1.3.9 but it is set up for 1.5.

1.5 does things a little differently in the admin area. Most people are wrestling with this in the other direction at the moment. Converting mods to work with 1.5 can be problematic! This may be the first request ever to go in the other direction.

making this work with 1.3 is not so hard. If you want me to do that just ask sweetly and I will do it when I find a moment. Just needs a quick alteration to the init_include and a new box file.

try the attached version if you are on 1.3.9. It comes with very little testing but I have put it up on one test site and it seems to work.

Obviously make sure that you are backed up first.

I am stuck with 139h until all of the mods I use have been updated to 150. The reason why I do not use IH3 is because IH3 fouls a little animated gif that I use for a category image. It would be great if the gif worked with your mod.

But if you do try this one on 1.3.9 I'd be interested to know.

However, with the Image Scaler. Yes, it should handle gifs soon. But to be honest I am not sure how that will deal with animated gifs.

That one will probably stay 1.5 only. Although I may rethink that at some point. Right now there is just too much to do to get it working for people to think about 1.3.9 :blink:

i just downloaded the zip file in your first post and looks like missing tons of files ?
no admin no template files.

can you also make this module so that visitor can change the view from column to gird and vis versa ? thats the feature i think is on everyones wish list . :D

yeah, could probably change the display format for the user. that wouldn't be a huge issue.

When I download the zip file I see all of those in the installation_files directory of the zip. If you are seeing something else then let me know.

That is for the 1.5 version. Checking the 1.3.9 now.

Likewise the 1.3.9 version seems complete.

Im sure im missing something over here ..

Sounds as what you are missing is some files!

I don't know what else to suggest. I have downloaded both versions three times at this point and when I unzip them I get what I should get.
