Image Handler 4 (for v1.5.x) Support Thread

ok, fresh zen cart install, no other java or jquery running in the front end, and still, wont trigger popup until you enter from the bottom left of the first 2 or 3 images in the list, then none after that, inspecting the page shows the image div has content, it just never turns from hidden?
This is really driving me nuts, wasted a half a day already, any help? anyone?

Thanks,
Jeff

It's hard to help with issues that haven't been reported before and can't be duplicated.. I did notice that all of your images are GIF's. Not a format you should be using for photos, but I'll spare you the "why you shouldn't use GIF's for photos speech.. Given that you seem to have a one off situation happening, my gut is telling me that the heart of the issue is some server setting.. someone else will have to chime in what kind of server issue could be the issue.. Your images could also be the issue.. I would suggest trying to see if the problem happens if you use a different filetype (JPG, PNG).. Set up a test category, add a few products with product images that are NOT GIFs..

Dunno.. Dunno know what you mean by "IH4 does not function anymore". Provide details (see page one of this support thread for tips on the kind of details you should be providing). Before you post, you should review the troubleshooting tips in the IH4 readme and see if the answer to your problem is there.

Re: Image Handler 4 (for v1.5.x) Support Thread

Thank you for the reply. I did not find related answer in the readme.
At mouse hoover I see the enlarged image coming up for every image I have in my list, but I wanted to change the defult image size from 100x80 to 150x120 in the - Configuration > Images - section so it shows a little bigger when the visitor watches it without moving the mouse on it.
Once I try to change the dimension to even just one pixel and hoover over it, the enlarged image does not show up, IH4 no longer has function even if I hoover on an image that I left as defult 100x80.

Please review the section in the readme that covers how the image hover feature works and specifically pay particular attention to how the image settings need to be configured for it to work..

Re: Image Handler 4 (for v1.5.x) Support Thread

Thank you. It worked. The solution was to read it over and over again. I am new to this. The only thing I missed was the "small image width" and "small image height" did not match with the desired product listing image dimensions.
Thanks again,
Peter

Re: Image Handler 4 (for v1.5.x) Support Thread

Help required please.

I am into Day 3 of trying to configure IH4. I've refrained from posting questions, but now could do with some help.

I have resorted to a completely fresh install of ZC 1.5.1, including example categories and products.

I have not created a custom template. Everything is out of the box.

My GD Version (described in php info) is: "bundled (2.0.34 compatible)"

I have read through the installation instructions and installed as described (Route 1, following "New Installation Instructions").

Messages at top of Admin indicated successful install. I also deleted the file indicated in the last line of the messages.

Both IH4 Admin pages look as they should:
Admin > Catalog > Categories/Products
Admin > Tools > Image Handler4

I changed IH resize images to "yes".

From the Configuration tab, I followed the instructions in the "Zooming (fancy hover effect)" section, removing all heights for the image settings, as you have, and replacing the width = 100 settings with width = 50 (so I could see a difference in image size for the hover behaviour).

Other changes:
Product Info - Image Width = 97 (so I can check that the change is effected in the browser)

My problemn is that I don't see any larger images (or indeed anything happening at all) when I hover over small images in pages such as "All Products" or "New Products".

If I click one of these small images, I get the product info page, with the 97px wide image, as expected. Click on that and I get a rather ugly default ZC popup window with a 200px wide image (where does this dimension come from?).

Can anyone suggest what I need to do to enable my images-on-hover?

Thanks.

Nope because NONE of us can see your site, and you haven't posted the full results from your image settings.. I won't begin to just lob random guesses at a problem..

So here's what I do suggest.. I am reposting what I just recently posted for someone asking a similar question.. I'm also including the response from the SAME community member (who's posts appear just above your first post) of what he realized he missed in setting up the image hover..

Usually when someone says they have followed the instructions in the readme and the hover doesn't work, it can be traced back to one setting they did not update.. ALL of the settings laid out in the readme must be updated or the image hover will not work on ANY page.. If after re-checking EVERYTHING, the hover doesn't work, then you will need to post your image settings and a link to your page.. Otherwise it will be nearly impossible to figure out what is going on..

Also with regards to WHERE the image dimensions come from I do lay that all out in the readme document with pictures to help understand what images go where and what image settings drive them.. Also this module does NOTHING to modify the default large image popup window on the product info page.. If you do not like the popup, check out one of the many lightbox options available..

Re: Image Handler 4 (for v1.5.x) Support Thread

I have a quick and hopefully easy question. Installed IH4 on 1.50 and for some reason when the person who owns the store tries to add a second image for her item, it pulls another image from another product. She has to go in and completely delete the item and do it over. Anyone else having this issue? If not would anyone perhaps have a solution?

This was a fresh install both 1.50 and image handler. Never ran into this issue before so not sure how to fix it.

It's NOT Image Handler, and in the readme document we have a troubleshooting section with a link to the FAQ that DOES cover this question.. Please review that FAQ and see if that helps you get to the bottom of the issue..

If you say nothing else has changed I don't have any idea what the issue can be.. and since it's intermittent it's safe to assume it's not really an issue with Image Handler, but some specific issue on your site.. You can try clearing your IH4 cache and seeing if that resolves the issue.. Otherwise you might want to make sure your source images aren't corrupted..

I would suggest rolling back to a pre IH4 install state and starting over.. IH4 is a super simple hassle free install and if you follow the installation instructions TO THE LETTER, it should just install and it should just work..

Re: Image Handler 4 (for v1.5.x) Support Thread

Hi. I'm having a big problem loading images. I have read the read me file, and FAQ many times. I have gone through 29 pages of posts here. I have a website that will have thousands of images by the time its done. So I took particular note on how to name the images, and because of that I may be doing it wrong. My website is fourthquartersports.com... Under category, and sub category; Basketball>Youth Basketball Uniforms, I was able to add 3 or 4 products with 7-10 additional images, no problem. But then the problem starts as I try and add more products. The product image will show up on my product page when I hit preview, but it wont show up in image handler, as I try and add additional images. Then as I try and add more images I get this message. Error!

Unable to determine the page link!

Function used:

zen_href_link('', '', 'NONSSL')... So I have tried numerous times to rename the images to totally different first name without luck. I usually put 7 to 10 images on each product. I started off naming my image (on a particular product) 756_youth_basketball_jersey_columbia_blue_white_01.jpg..... I then name the additional images the same except at the end with an increase of 1 on each image. 02,03,04, ect. On the next product I start its name with the catalog number (924 for instance). I was hoping by starting the name with the catalog number I wouldn't run out of options. But even after running into problems and renaming the pictures, it wouldn't work. Heres a page that I cannot add images to, http://fourthquartersports.com/youth-basketball-uniforms-c-2_36/basketball-team-uniform-youth-shorts-striped-dazzle-short-924-p-69.. And heres one where all is well. http://fourthquartersports.com/youth-basketball-uniforms-c-2_36/youth-basketball-game-jersey-reversible-dazzle-756-p-67.... I must need help in how to name them. But no matter how I name them now, it doesn't work. Please help. Thanks nate.... snoz4343##################

IH doesn't touch your original images, ever. (that is one of the things that makes this module safe, and a pleasure to use).

Don't worry about anything in the bmz folder. The images stored there are created as needed.

Alas, there isn't enough useful information here to give much of a clue.

The 1st thing I note here is that you have some sort of URL rewriter installed. These things almost always cause more problems than they solve. My suggestion here is to disable the writer to see if the problem goes away.

Please ignore these ideas/suggestions if DivaVocals states something to the contrary. Her words are far more authoritative than mine in regards to this module.

Cheers
