Abbington Mega Template [Support Thread]

Hi Ladies,

I do have Image Handler installed. I have additional images loading fine in my custom template (see the site in my signature). The site to which I added Abbington Mega is an exact copy, exact duplicate of the store in my signature however I decided to use Abbington Mega template which I thing is stunning. Before adding AM the additional images were working fine.

I have the settings set at 5 additional images per row but upon seeing the 3 column structure I changed it to 3 but to no effect. In my signature site I modified tpl_product_info_display to bring the additional images to under the main product image and 5 across sat neatly.

I actually changed the position of the code for display images to be under Products Detail List and the 'blank' space shows up as a bigger area than it was and now with one(1) vertical dotted divider but still no images. No matter where I put the code the images do not show.

Additionally I have lost functionality of Zen Lightbox, e.g. clicking on larger image opens a new window instead of the the lightbox - and it doesn't auto zoom with mouse hover (again refer to my signature site) - the configuration settings for Zen Lightbox are the same on both sites (as you would expect being exact clones).

I have tried a few things but to no avail. I guess the commonality is 'images' control. Everything else is Top Stuff !!! :)

Any ideas as to what I should look at to solve the problem? ..... note that I am using v1.3.9h and IH3 ... the site is www.dazzlers.net.au

It sounds like you overwrote (instead of merging) the template override files from Image Handler and Zen Lightbox when you installed this template.. You need to re-install both Image Handler and Zen Lightbox to restore the functionality of both add-ons.. Please review the readme files for both Image Handler and Zen Lightbox to make sure when you re-install them that you properly merge the files these add-ons have in common with this template..

I thought that may have been the issue. Quite simply Zen_Lightbox when installed is specific to a template (like many other plug-ins) so re-installing Zen_Lightbox with YOUR_TEMPLATE_FOLDER renamed to the new template name is the answer to the problem - I didn't have to do anything with Image Handler (it is not template specific).

Zen_Lightbox readme file says;

Rename the following folders to match your template folder name.

includes\languages\english\extra_definitions\YOUR-TEMPLATE-FOLDER
includes\modules\YOUR-TEMPLATE-FOLDER
includes\templates\YOUR-TEMPLATE-FOLDER

So I am not sure if it would be advantageous to have a specific step in the install section of the readme for Abbington_Mega that covers (Plug-ins already installed in your current (custom?)Template) that alerts users to re-install those plug-ins that have files in template folders re-naming the template folder name to the abbington_mega name. If it is already part of the readme file I didn't see it so maybe it could be highlighted?

So Additional images is now functional and I am extremely pleased with Abbington-Mega, it is a Superb template - Great Stuff.

p.s. DIVA - do you know anything about AutoFacebook? - I am having a problem with it and am getting No Response from the support thread (over a month now!) - everything seems to be functional EXCEPT I cannot find the new products posts on Facebook, even though Admin says upload to Facebook successful - they appear to be lost in cyber space.

If it is already part of the readme file I didn't see it so maybe it could be highlighted?No need to add this to this template's readme.. rule of thumb when installing add-ons is that if your template/add-on overwrites existing modified files, you should be in the habit of MERGING those overlapping files..

No, I do not agree that there should be anything added to the readme for the template about this. It is pretty straightforward that if you have modules installed on one template and then install a new template, modules will not work until the override files have been re-installed in the new template override directory.

If I remember correctly, the version of the auto facebook modules is a bit out of date. Facebook likes to change things around regularly. I would contact the module author for help or to hire him to update the mod for you.

Hello and thank you so much for the amazing template! It's almost perfect right out of the box for me. I just have one little change I'd like to make. I really need my logo to be as wide as the site rather than being limited to a max of 400px wide. Is there a way I can use a larger logo and perhaps move the free shipping and search box, even if I have to move them over the logo? You can use a logo of any size that you like. If your logo is wider than 400px you will probably have to adjust the positioning of the other header elemens in the stylesheet.css file.

Can you please tell me how to remove the search from the header? Ideally I'd like to move it down to the menu bar but I would be happy enough with just being able to remove it from the header. I'd like to have it so that my logo is the only thing up there and with no space between that and the header bar. Also, how can I change the blue border around the menu bar?

You can turn off the header search box in admin--tools--layout boxes controller.

You can change styles for the mega menu in the includes/templates/abbington_mega/css/stylesheet_mega_menu.css file.

You can make both of these changes by editing the includes/templates/abbington_mega/common/tpl_header.php and includes/templates/abbington_mega/css/stylesheet.css files.

These types of coding changes will take some knowledge of css, xhtml, and php. If you are not familiar with these I would recommend doing a search on google to find some beginning tutorials to get you started.

Thanks for your suggestions. I think I've got it worked out. The only thing I'm struggling with now is keeping the social media and the navmain links floating where I want them, they shift in different browsers. I've played around with floating and positioning relative and absolute but I can't get it perfect. I suppose I should just leave well enough alone! You can either create separate stylesheets for the browsers that you want to target --if they are internet exporer versions, or you can add javascript to isolate specific browsers. You can see an example of how this javascript is used in the Brighton Pets template.

I was able to successfully change the links in the middle two columns of my footer. I'm wondering if you could help me out with the first and fourth columns. What I'd like to do is move the PayPal image up to replace email in the first column and move the social networking up to replace the EZ page links in the fourth column. Then I'd like to do away with the very bottom of the footer where the PayPal and social networking is now.

Thank you for a beautiful template. I have only one issue-one I've seen in the thread, but haven't found the solution for. I'm trying to turn off the "Show Brands" menu item. I have turned off other menu items successfully.

I have the following in my stylesheet_mega_menu.css file (works for all menu items except .manufacturers-li )

.quicklinks-li {display:none;} 
.categories-li 
.manufacturers-li {display:none;}

Is manufacturers the correct spelling? I tried .manufacturer-li as well. Thanks!:smile:
