Re: Abbington Mega Template [Support Thread]

You can edit the includes/languages/english/extra_definitions/abbington_mega/footer_menu_defines.php file.

Thanks,

Anne

Anne...
That file only seems to address Columns 2-4. The Email us link is in Column 1 under the Phone Number. It does not seem to be in that file.

If you look at my site: https://www.obesupply.com, you will see that if you click on the Email Us link in the left side of the footer, it takes you to:
http://localhost/red/index.php?main_page=contact_us, not to: http://www.obesupply.com/index.php?main_page=contact_us, which would be more desirable.

I am sorry about that! This bug was addresses a while back in the thread and I do have it on a list for a future update. You can edit the includes/templates/abbington_mega/common/tpl_footer_menu.php file.

Thanks,

Re: Abbington Mega Template [Support Thread]

Hello Anne,

subsequent to your response I have merged the files and ended up with a blank front page so have reverted to my default position, ( no tabs and editable home page centerbox). I find myself in a position whereby I am getting advice from 2 quarters and frankly it is confusing, and the advice lacks the 'bouncing ball' type that you put so well in your template instructions (great job as I have commented on before). I have been advised to 'merge files' and/or 'merge folders' and referenced two modules.

Here is what I have done on my latest attempt; merged includes/templates/abbington_mega/templates/tpl_index_default.php from Abbington Mega template with file of same name from Editable Home Page Centerboxes plugin and, merged includes/templates/abbington_mega/templates/tpl_index_categories.php from Editable Home Page Centerboxes plugin with the file of same name written by GAM as posted in the Tabbed Home Page Modules thread. This resulted in the blank page.

I am obviously missing something but the problem is I am not getting a tutorial, I am getting broad suggestions. I know Diva thinks the whole thing is beyond me however I have done similar things before with 'bouncing ball' advice - I am not unintelligent but what I am not is a coder. What I was hopeful of was something like;

  1. merge (file name) from (template or some module) with file of same name from Editable Home Page centerboxes (version)
  2. merge (file name) from (template or some module) with file of same name from Editable Home Page centerboxes (version)
etc etc, which is what is in the installation instructions for the EHPCB (except it lacks the where from, just merge these files), which I have done.
Somewhere between A and Z I have missed something but I cannot find the right signposts.

I was not at first but I am now confident I have merged the files correctly - do it as often as I have over the past few days and you get to become competent at it.

That is why I will wait Anne - maybe someone reading this thread (aside from Diva), or the other threads, will merge the appropriate files and post the files somewhere.

The frustrating thing Anne is that this is not rocket science, but for people like you and Diva and others it is fairly simple or at least not overly difficult as you do this sort of thing regularly so are very competent. People like me do this, or attempt to do something like this very rarely and only generally when it is a problem so I find it very challenging - after nearly 3 years of using ZC and 10 sites I have achieved much, learned a lot, but this is my biggest challenge yet, and frankly it should not be.

Personally I think the whole thing got sidetracked when Diva responded first to my original query and you effectively became a bystander.

cheers,
Mike

This got side tracked when I asked you to repeatedly post this WHOLE thing in the support thread for the Editable Home Page centerboxes, and you decided that I didn't want to help you.. I won't help you with Editable Home Page centerboxes issue here.. I've said that consistently.. I never said it was over your head to do, you did when you threw your hands up and implied that this was some rocket science exercise..

So.. gonna say this one more time here and MOVE ON if you choose to continue to dismiss, and ignore me as you have been doing..

Ppost WHAT you did to merge these files in the Editable Home Page centerboxes support thread, and I'll be happy to help you figure this out.. It helps if you post DETAILS of what you did, and the results. You've done that everywhere but where you should, and THAT has been the issue all along..

Re: Abbington Mega Template [Support Thread]

Anne - an update for your information - Editable Home Page Centerboxes does not work with your template even with the modified file by GAM, includes/templates/abbington_mega/templates/tpl_index_categories.php, whether merged with includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/templates/tpl_index_categories.php from the EHPCB plugin or not - I have tried every merged / unmerged combination without success of all common files, in fact includes/templates/abbington_mega/templates/tpl_index_default.php gives a better result than when merged with the file of the same name in the EHPCB plugin.

Please note that this is not a complaint nor a request for help, I just thought you might like to know so that if you are inclined you can maybe have GAM re-test, for your benefit given that it was something you had on your to do list.

regards,
Mike

Re: Blank "Configuration>Abbington Mega" page in admin

Tried all sorts of things, including reinstall, but still no config/abb mega page in admin.

Any ideas, anyone? Is that page critical to using Abbington Mega?

Would appreciate any assistance.

Thanks.

Joebones - I don't think it is important at all - I have a number of sites using this template and they do not have configuration tab in Admin for the template. To my knowledge it doesn't need it.

Mike

Re: Abbington Mega Template [Support Thread]

Mike --

That sounds promising!

Are you using v3.1 of Abb Mega on those sites? If so, I will just try to live with the bug.

Thanks,

Re: Abbington Mega Template [Support Thread]

Oops. I think that was a silly question because it looks like the older versions don't have an admin tab.

Most of the code implemented in the altered files of tabbed home page modules was done and tested by me and work perfectly if merged or copied correctly.

What you are asking is very doable, I have done it. If I can find my notes I will post in the appropriate threads.

This is just not true. Any stable module will work if installed properly. You need to merge the appropriate files.

Thanks,

Anne

Yes, the newest version of the template does need this page installed to customize the mega menu, slide show, etc.

Look in your database at the configuration_group table and find the id for the template package. Then match this to the id in the admin_pages table.

Thanks,

Anne

You are wrong about this. The latest version of the template does need it.

Thank you, Anne.

Yes ... I tried that (post #829) on 20 OCT 13, as you suggested.

Once I matched the numbers, it titled the blank page "Abbington Mega", but nothing more.

Re: Abbington Mega Template [Support Thread]

Thank you for the awesome template! I have one question, I would like to add a plain text message underneath the footer box that displays on every page, is this possible?

I am happy that you like it :) You can add your text to the includes/templates/abbington_mega/common/tpl_footer.php

Thanks,
