Does this mod require a version of Image Handler or is it wholly free standing?

no this mod does not require Image handler at all, just if you want to use both mods they will function together perfectly

The readme does not mention Image Handler whatsoever, but the code is peppered with IH references.

Right.. forgot the readme was different for this one.. the references to IH4 are to there because like Zen Lightbox, the module works with IH4 out the box.. Doens't mean IH4 is REQUIRED..

I have not yet installed this plugin, as I need to do something with images that does not seem to be supported.

My image, image_MED are both gif. My image_LRG are all jpg. My small and medium images are a crop from a black and white document that has an outline of the image and text, so gif is by far the best. My large images are all actual product photographs so jpg is by far the best.

Is there a way to have this plugin not look for the file type (extension)? That's what I'm thinking to be a way to accomplish this, but perhaps there is a better way (other than converting all my gifs into jpgs)?

This is a LIGHTBOX module.. meaning it's an APPEARANCE module for images, not an IMAGE MANAGEMENT module..

You'll want to look at Image Handler which IS an IMAGE MANAGEMENT module.. You'll want to read through the usage section of the readme and pay attention to an often overlooked feature setting which converts file images upon upload.

For the record, it's not this module or even Image Handler which disallows mixed file formats.. ZEN CART disallows this..

I've NEVER been able to get mixed file formats for images to work.. Image Handler can bridge this gap with the right settings..

So basically IF certain modifications within zencart files were made to allow mixed image file types, THEN there would be no confilics with this plugin and it *should * work (should)?

Not saying that at all.. If you want to modify ZEN CART's native image management to behave differently then ANY module which you use which deals with images will ALSO need to be modified since they are constructed to work with Zen Cart's native image management. (they don't seek to modify it, they ENHANCE/EXTEND it..)

I don't see the gain in modifying Zen Cart's native image management.. Image Handler will convert your .gif files to .jpg is there a reason you DO NOT want to do this??

Looking at the web inspector, it seems to be unhappy with the title of your images (not the file names). Check the one you linked to, and see if there is a special character or something after WH1090

to piggyback on this, the image title is derived from the product title.. so the issue may be in an illegal character in your product title.. try renaming your product and see if the issue goes away..

If that's the case, then you can see that there is (at least) a space at the end of your product name

excellent question. I have been asked by some viewers if the nex and previous buttons at the top are not working...the little ones at the bottom are not easily seen and I do not have it set to do the slideshow thing.

And you are right switching to Zen Colorbox is the answer as there will be no further updates to this (Lightbox) module as Slimbox which this module uses is old, outdated and unsupported..

I've put off installing lightbox or colorbox, but now need to do it, and have since upgraded to 1.5.3, so...

Is Colorbox 1.5.3 compatible? (either officially, unofficially, or should be)
